Doug Flutie to be legend of the game this Sunday
StHustle replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you serious? Rob Johnson completed 10 of 22 passes for 131 yards, 0 TDs, 6 sacks, 3 Fumbles and gave up a safety. You consider that playing "pretty well" ??? Anyone who paid any attention to how Flutie played and his skill set KNOWS we win that game with him behind center. Heck we almost, and should have still won despite how garbage RJ played. Bottom line, we arent in position for a run back to cost us the game if Flutie started like he should have, -

Wrong. Flutie is indeed a Legend. Highest win percentage for a QB in Bills History. Was unceremoniously benched for a lesser QB which led to the Music City Miracle and then the longest playoff drought in NFL History. He had his own cereal. And was the original MAGIC QB before Fitz. Him leaving under bad terms WAS NOT HIS FAULT. Was clearly Ralph's fault. He had every right to be PISSED and react the way he did after fighting all year to get us in position for a superbowl run, only to be benched cause our backup looked good in a no pressure game. BTW the team we should have AND WOULD HAVE beat if Flutie started, went on to the superbowl and lost in the last seconds. Could have/should have been us with a chance to win a ring that year. SMH. Flutie was ROBBED! LONG LIVE THE LEGEND OF FLUTIE!!! -

Smells like a FAKE account. Then whoever made it has the nerve to be advertising their blinds company. -

This was featured on Good Morning Football. Pretty cool stuff. Sounds like he has a great case for a lawsuit. The company would have a hard time arguing they didnt copy his image. A shame they didnt get permission first and offer to pay this guy. -

Doug Flutie is still the Bills best QB since Kelly (Josh is nipping at his heels). SMH at the hate for a guy who gave his all week after week and has THE BEST winning percentage of all QBs in Bills history. What happened to him NEVER HAPPENED TO ANY OTHER STARTING QB IN NFL HISTORY. And still hasn't happened since. People wanted him to suck it up and accept it like he isnt a human being and a man who was Robbed (pun intended) of what he earned. So many bash him but Flutie was a WINNER and a PRO BOWLER. Sure we averaged the #3 defense during the 3 years he was with us but Offense can have a huge effect on those defensive rankings (our defense fell like 20 spots after he left) PLUS we had plenty top 5 defenses over the dought and no QB had a winning record (sans Orton who was 7-5) let alone 70% winning percentage. SHOW THE MAN SOME RESPECT!!! -
Thinking another young QB is better is one thing. Voicing a complaint that we should have drafted them instead, is another. Would our team be in better shape RIGHT NOW had we stayed put, drafted Lamar, kept our two 2nd round picks, and hired Roman instead of Daboll. OBVIOUSLY. If Beane's hindsight were foresight we'd win the superbowl every year from now on. Often times you won't make the best possible choice when you look back. But as long as the choice you did make works well, be happy and move forward with no regrets. If you make one gamble and win $100k, should you really complain because you didnt make a different gamble that could have won you $200k? Especially looking at how many others CRAPPED OUT and even remembering how many gambles youve lost yourself in the past? I LOVED Jackson coming out. I also knew drafting him early would be a gamble as he had a pretty good bust probability. I actually thought Josh had a larger bust probability so I wasnt happy with the pick. However, our GM believed in Josh and made a decisive decision that so far looks like a very solid move. Drafting any QB, Josh and Lamar moreso imo, is a GAMBLE. Lets just be happy so far it looks like a win for the franchise.
-
Most Bills fans are just happy we didnt pick a bust like Rosen or someone. To say you wish we picked anyone else would almost come off as unappreciative of what we have and after so many failed attempts at replacing Jim Kelly, not many of us want to be unappreciative. I mean we sit here in early December with a realistic shot at the Division and a 97% chance to make the playoffs. This is the best situation we've been in in over 20 years. We arent about to sit back and complain about our QB. Now with that said, there are many who, in a redraft, would still pick Josh over Lamar simply because they don't prefer his HEAVY running style and think he wont have longevity, which history has proven the odds are in that favor. Anyone who, with a do-over, would still trade that pick to KC and not select Mahomes, is being plain foolish. However, it's not foolish to refuse to admit it. There is simply no point in discussing such hypotheticals. We selected Josh to be the guy, he is a winner with plenty room to grow and we are happy.

What % do you think we have a chance of winning?

They are due for a loss. We are at home. We will win or at the very least beat the spread. -
A comment about Lamar gets a 49er's announcer suspended
StHustle replied to Stallions's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Reading some of these comments remind me of just how insensitive many Bills fans can be regarding issues of race and color. Not saying this was some huge offense but even something small like this bring certain types out the woodwork. Takes me back to how Bills fans treated Kaepernick THE worst during his protest days. Hundreds of shirts being worn suggesting he should be shot and killed for kneeling. Many won't admit or even aren't conscious of the fact that the real reason they were so upset was not the kneeling itself, but the reason he was kneeling for. If Kaep came out and said he is kneeling to protest and bring attention to the poor way war veterans are treated when they return to civilian life, there would have been almost ZERO national outrage. Something about racial wrongs being pointed out that ruffles a certain demographics feathers more than it should. -

People are reacting as if the man was fired. Certain platforms require you to be more PC than others. I dont understand how anyone doesnt get how suggesting the color of someones skin is giving them an unfair advantage won't go over well....AS TRUE AS IT MAY BE. In his position, you cant say everything that comes to your head even if it makes great sense. If he worked for Bar Stool Sports he wouldnt have had to worry about a suspension. -
I dont think Beane or anyone else would even remotely consider extending a kicker who doesnt work out as "risking his job" Again, this is only the type of thing you would do with a kicker. In the grand scheme of things it was low risk- high reward. Lastly, I knew what you meant by "dumb" and Thought I referred to it accordingly in my post.
-
What you are saying would make sense if they didn't extend him after one of the worst stretches of his career. They could have EASILY waited to see if he got back on track first and extended him midway through the season. Im not saying they ONLY did it as a confidence boost because they also believed in him. The TIMING of it all was PURELY so it was one less thing the kicker would have to think about. FACT: Getting an extension makes most players feel more secure. FACT: Most humans are less tense when they feel secure. It lessens anxiety. For most players, you invite that insecurity to get them to step their game up. That philosophy isn't a good idea for a kicker for obvious reasons. You sit here and speak as if what Im saying makes no sense. To want your kicker to have one less thing to worry about isnt "dumb" as you call it. Now if they didn't quite believe in him and still made the move then you have a point. I think they did indeed believe in him and felt the early extension may even improve his play even more. So far they were wrong.

He has shown to be VERY intelligent ON THE FIELD. To say performance in preseason "doesn't mean a goddamn thing" is asinine. If that's all the tape you have on a guy than that's all you can judge him by. According to you, all we have to judge him on play -wise, is a kneel down? So if he was starting next week, I guess the opposing team would just watch the kneel down since what he shown in the preseason "doesn't mean a goddamn thing." What an idiotic assessment. This debate is over. Just agree to disagree. But tell me how that crow tastes once he does get his chance.
-
Have you actually watched him play in preseason? Can you say anything negatively about HIS GAME cause your whole case for him not deserving to be in this league is off the field stuff. HE MADE ONE MISTAKE WHILE BEING IN THE NFL. Im sorry but getting intoxicated, blacking out and wondering in someone;s home is NOT grounds to be permanently banned from the NFL. You are compiling stuff from his teenage year. Look, beating out a first round pick (albeit Paxton Lynch) IS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. Dominating the preseason opportunities you get IS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. The guy is decisive and accurate and can make all the throws. His last name has NOTHING to do with my belief in him. His last name is simply the reason why I paid an attention to him and once he got my attention I saw a kid that has ALL THE TOOLS to be a successful starting QB in this league.
-
You keep mentioning off the field stuff. Show me where he hasn't dominated on the field when healthy. All he can do is make the most of the opportunities he does get. Im not saying its guaranteed that he will be great. All Im saying is what I BELIEVE to be true and giving the only evidence I have available to back up my belief. The kid was immature and messing with drugs. My nephew is good friends with Chad and is certain he is clean now. He doesnt even go out anymore AT ALL and has totally abstained from substances including alcohol since that Halloween incident. I got high hopes for this kid.
-
Based on seeing every preseason snap he has taken. Dont forget he firmly took the backup job from Paxton Lynch in Denver then with the Colts beat out his competition to grab the final QB spot. It's called the eye test. It cant always be quantified but I believe in this kids ability and will be excited to see him get his chance one day. As I said, just needs to continue to prove he can be trusted off the field.
-
CK is better than Hoyer but lacks the experience Reich wanted in his back up. Like I said, all he needs is an opportunity. He has maximized every on field opportunity he has gotten since being drafted.
-
Meh. Thats a move you would only do for a kicker. So when you say "throwing money at players" I feel its an isolated event and not the beginning of some trend we have to worry about. It could have worked but so far it hasn't. I would immediately bring in Chase because he is the best option out there. If we let another team grab him up and decide to make a move a few weeks down the line after finally being convinced the change should be made, it'll be slim pickings and possibly no better option out there. Playoff games too often come down to field goals and I DREAD that being our downfall after a great season.
-
A BIG game against his former team will go a long way. Beasley had his shine last week now its Smoke time!
-
Chad Kelly is better than many current starters in the league. Kyle Allen, Drew Lock, Trubisky, David Blough, Duck Hodges and Haskins to name a few off the top of my head. All he has to do is continue on the straight and narrow and his time will come.

Do we have any pro bowl players this year guys? Not talking alternates either. John Brown and Tre White deserve it but not so sure either get the nod....smh.

I see a lot of people in here who have a misguided view of Ron Rivera. I live in Charlotte and often watch Bills games at my Uncle's house. He has lived here 40 years and is both a Bills fan and Panthers fan (when he tells people that he ALWAYS adds that if they were to meet in the super bowl he would root for the Bills) Anyhow he sets up a second TV in his living room and watches both games when they are on at the same time. I've seen PLENTY Panthers games the last couple years. Ron Rivera is NOT a good head coach. Terrible game management and has a team that consistently underachieves. Yes he rode his defense and MVP QB to a Superbowl where he was terribly outcoached. His firing was deserved and MOST Panthers fans are happy about the move. Trust me on that.
