  1. words have meaning. whether one chooses to fit that meaning into their own narrative by implying that that meaning is not really what that word means is another matter entirely. some might call this having rose colored glasses.

speaking of crooks....on the bright side, Goldman Saks bought the exchange Poloniex not long ago. this is another sign that tells me it is part and parcel of the early days of a movement and not what some might term a pyramid (in the traditional sense).
  3. coming into last year, Falk was part of the Rosen, Darnold discussion. he intrigues me as i simply find it hard to believe he fell off a clif as much as it would seem.
  4. i don't know that i have a favorite R&R band. what i do have is a favorite sound. i love, love, love the raw unpolished sound. give me the early stuff of most bands and i am a fan.
  5. yeah, no. i don't believe you let a guy make a decision that important that you know is not going to be around much longer. if you trusted his judgment that much, you probably wouldn't be planning to move on.

as for my manipulation comment, here is an interesting chart... https://imgur.com/a/FEd2W
  7. honest question here... why would Whaley have been the one to make that decision? at the time of the draft last year, the popular wisdom on the board was that Whaley was merely a lackey and doing McDermotts bidding. I happen to agree with that line of thinking as, if they knew they were going to fire him, why on Earth would they let him make picks forming the future of the franchise he was no longer going to be part of.
  8. i think Reid is stuck in the Schottenheimer mold. great coach, just not great enough.

yeah, i remember you talking about your friend previously in this thread. i still believe we are on the ground floor of this thing. however it isn't going to last much longer. i do have to admit to it going sideways for a bit longer than i thought the current phase of consolidation would take originally.
  10. had they stumbled last year, our pick from them would have been higher. crap shoot but not totally unexpected.

your funny row. still harboring those feelings of FOMO it seems. you think it is a pyramid, i believe it is a movement. apparently never the 'twain shall meet. there is a great amount of ammunition to support my belief it isn't funny.
  12. we were in what, 10 place? traded back to 27th and got a first this year. i'd say it was a good trade for us. providing Mahomes is not a true franchise qb.

the market has certainly walked sideways since it's high in Dec/Jan. it has a certain aroma of manipulation to it.
  14. perhaps your right, my bad. nothing derogatory there. still working the first cupajoe this morning.
  15. why the need to make it personal? climb up over the curb and address the argument at hand.
  16. i agree, it will most likely be expensive. i trust Beane to do what it appears he does best, making the best deal possible. perhaps a balance of some capital this year and next's (though any capital from next year would cost more today). i was going to start a new thread with this thought but , meh it's not that good of a thought. anyhoo... the draft almost always never goes as one can think it will go. what if... the Browns take Barkley, the Giants take Chubb at #2 leaving the Jets with the pick of the qb lot @ 3? do the Browns then take a qb @ 4, what about the Broncos @ 5? would that leave the Colts ripe for a trade with say Arizona or us? no matter how i envision it, there is a run on the top 4 before we get to our pick. it certainly would cost a lot less to trade into the 6th slot than say the 2nd. it all depends on how the draft unfolds. for this reason I don't envision a trade up until draft day, if at all.
  17. i was all for trading up to get our qb, however now i am not so sure. the cost is quite probably prohibative at this point. with that being said, all i know is the approach we have been taking for the last 18 years and most of our history for that matter has gotten us essentially nothing so !@#$ it, go for it and acquire whomever OBD thinks is the one.
  18. i still think a 3 team trade is the best possible way to get to #2.
  19. i've watched him some, yes. what he has done in college will not necessarily translate to the pro environment. gotcha, thanks.
  20. really? he hasn't even set one foot on NFL turf and he is already better than Vick (in his prime)? this might just be slightly delusional
  21. my choice would be Luke Falk. after the 2016 season, he was being touted as the #1 overall pick. did he fall off the clif or was he never reeally that good to begin with? either way, i'm all for a late flier on the kid.
