    Defense wins championships.

Wildcard weekend folks. The best offenses have not even played yet because they got the week off...

Balance Grasshopper. The teams that are doing well and going far have balance. They play well on both sides of the ball. Dallas, the Chargers, NE,...

    This as well.

    Allen at 32nd.

    Scattershot accuracy

How could Jackson be higher than Allen as he runs and doesn’t pass well? I hope Josh stays motivated and crushes it next year.

Jackson had a better comp %, better TD %, and lower INT %. Also 6-1 BTW. If he doesn't pass well, what the hell does that mean for Allen? I personally think they both have played well.

Allen played in twice as many games and only had 800 more yards passing and 4 more passing TDs. I personally like Allen and his potential over Lamar but that statement is just plain incorrect. If Lamar played as much as Allen he was on pace to have better numbers pretty much everywhere.

  3. Comeback Player of the Year - Zay Jones, HM Shaq Lawson

Offensive Rookie of the Year - Josh Allen, HM Robert Foster

Defensive Rookie of the Year - Tremaine Edmunds, HM Taron Johnson

Team ROY - Josh Allen, HM Robert Foster

Defensive MVP - Lorenzo Alexander, HM Jerry Hughes

Offensive MVP - Josh Allen, HM Robert Foster
Team MVP - Lorenzo Alexander, HM Josh Allen

Few comments: People giving Kyle team MVP using their hearts not heads. Milano had a good season but no where close to how good Lorenzo was this year. He did it all and he played an insane amount of snaps. Old Man Zo's year is really being overlooked by a lot of you guys. Give the big man some respect!

However you want to characterize it and however you want to assign blame... I just realized how significance of that play.  And not in the way you thought of it before.  Sure, to cap off that thrilling win would've been very exciting.  Still, just like Robert Royal's inability to inexplicably get a second foot inbounds at home against the Titans in week 16 in 2006 meant Buffalo was drafting 12th (Marshawn Lynch) at 7-9 instead of drafting 20th at 8-8 (based on strength of schedule)... the last play of our week 13 Dolphins' games means TWO things:  1) we're drafting 9th instead of 16th (yes, seven spots that play accounted for) and 2) our third-place finish means we get the Titans & Broncos instead of the Colts & Chargers.  Had we beaten & swept Miami, we'd have finished in second-place at 7-9 while they'd have been in third at 6-10.

Sometimes it's all how you look at things.  In turns out, that wasn't the worst outcome in the world.

When you are dead in regards to playoffs, it is better to lose, always.

Play design, similar to why Allen had a pretty high completion % vs the Dolphins.

Allen arguably had an average post injury throwing day, but they designed a bunch of high completion passes hence the higher %.

That's why this whole shallow NFL pundit and fan obsession of equating completion % to accuracy is misguided.

There's a definite difference between comp % and accuracy. The actual problem with Allen is designed, 3-step drop and throw the ball plays is where he really struggles. He can hit every throw on the field but he has to get better at bread and butter plays. Those 6-7 easy gainers are how you win in this league, the round about, tackle breaking, rocket arming, LBer leaping plays are entertaining, but not how you go 13-3.

KB's playing time and targets decreased noticeably as the younger guys flashed potential, especially Foster, and NP played himself back into a starting job over the course of the offseason/preseason. Then the QB injury bug hit and he was forced into spot duty yet again. No FO will ever be perfect, and I agree that Star is overpaid and Trent has been a disappointment with his injuries this year, but you can't hit on everything, and they are making plenty of other "right" moves along the way that are paying dividends already. Let's revisit this in another year.

What are the other right moves? Poyer and Hyde? Jury is still out on Allen, he looks promising. Two LBs that went after Edmunds have been just as good if not better. Trading up there was dumb. Trading up for Zay was dumb, Kupp and Juju went after. You never trade up for a non-QB. Now watch Robiskie get moved to WR coach and us get a REAL QB coach. "Calculated".

The only thing these guys really "did" was get a lucky playoff berth. We get blown out at a ridiculous rate and that has to stop. Our top ranked D really only performed well against bad teams and against a clearly declining Brady.

If Allen busts, they are toast.

If your point is that firing assistant coaches admits mistakes and takes heat off the GM and the coach by placing blame elsewhere, I agree.

I do think its a little optimistic to think that every staff hire is going to be brilliant and every player personnel move is going to work out swimmingly.  It's not really the way it works.  Even Belichick makes mistakes in assistant coach hiring and player moves.   One of the emerging strengths of the current regime is admitting errors and cutting bait (Benjamin, etc.).  I think Terry and Kim have created the environment that allows this as long as they see progress toward the vision.

Um. Benjamin was awful all season yet continued to get play when younger guys didn't get a shot. Nathan Peterpickerman was shoved down our throats for two years and we didn't retain an actual vet presence until this season was essentially over; both of those guys got extended shortly. We had to endure a full year of Rick "No Offense" Dennison. We paid Trent Murphy and Star wayyy to much and we can actually cut them without too many repercussions. I doubt either of those moves happen. I disagree here and it warrants questioning how calculated things are.

There is literally no evidence or that. In fact, just the contrary, while it is true we lost out on others, we were a part of those conversations. We didn’t lose out on anyone for not acting quick enough.

"There was no evidence either way, but my opinion is 100% right"

There was enough evidence that Dennison was not a top choice as it was reported by a million different people.

The oline was bad because we have crappy players. How do we know the position coach holds any blame?

Special teams was bad because we had guys starting who should have been on special teams, and guys on special teams who should be sitting at home watching the games on TV. Again, it's a talent issue.

I don't care AT ALL who we have as position coaches. Our HC and coordinators can keep whomever they like. And I am not willing to blame our special teams coordinator for having a bad result with very bad players.

The organization seems to agree with me.

If the only thing that matters are wins, then his playoff season in year 1 should buy him a little extra credit. Hell, getting this team to six wins with THIS ROSTER should get him some extra credit, as well.

I do agree he needs to start piling wins next year, but "hot seat" time if he doesn't? Tough crowd.

If we go 6-7 wins next year, you really don't think he will be on the hot seat? If a wild card loss is enough for you to be satisfied for 4 years you need to increase what your expectations should be.

I spent several years living in Ohio and a lot of you guys sound like the Marvin Lewis defenders. No expectation for greater results but he's a nice guy so why not keep giving it a chance.

That's fine. When was the last time we got lucky? The only bad loss this season was against the Jets. That's the kind of loss that was ROUTINE for many years under many different Bills Head Coach's. I don't include Houston. I never really felt like we were in control of that game. I'm certainly not a member of the Process fan club, but there's something to be said for winning 50/50 games. I'll bash him all day for mistakes so it's only fair to give him some credit for something.

Excuse me the only bad loss this season was the Jets? Were you asleep this whole year? We got spanked multiple times until the schedule got easy. Our "top ranked D" only showed up against good teams twice. MNF vs Pats and Texans. Pretty much every other playoff team scored 30-40 on us easily.

Who's this Cowler and what does he know about football? Just busting your chops bud.

I like McDermott. Many of the statisticians who I generally agree with look at our point differential from 2017 as a negative. What I took away was that his teams found a way to win tight games. I feel like McDermott has won quite a few more one possession games than he's lost. The blowouts are a concern, but winning the 50/50 contests is not something I'm accustomed to as a Bills fan.

He's pretty conservative, but has done well with what Beane has given him to work with. 2019 is the true test.

What that means is we got lucky, which we did.

We have a top 5 defense, a franchise QB, 10 draft picks and 90 million. How can he possibly mess that up? Any halfway competent coach can get us to the playoffs. McD is too smart to screw this up.

    1. We had a defense that did poorly against good teams and beat up on some bad ones. The signature performance was probably first Pats game and it's not like we are dealing with elite Brady. Every playoff team we faced put up 30-40 points on us except the Pats and Texans. Embarrassing.

    2. Franchise QB? We have a rookie QB who had an up and down season. I wouldn't even call Baker a franchise guy yet. Mariota and Winston had pretty good rookie years and both of them are pretty darn avg. Not guys that can get you in the playoffs consistently.

    3. 90 million? Sure. So far these guys haven't hit on their signings besides Poyer and Hyde. Everyone else has not panned out well, having more money doesn't mean you become better in free agency.
