The Trump Shutdown
Buffalo_Gal replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The border wall gofundme just took a turn... this is the team <snip> If the Democrats won't provide the funding for what the American people voted for in 2016 then we the people will. When Americans see us completing real miles of beautiful wall, we know that we will raise the many billions we need to finally secure the entire border. I am 100% committed to secure our southern border and protect Americans. </ snip> -

No, I would not find it funny for someone to suffer a spinal injury. I know a lot of things are said in hyperbole on the Internet, including by the people who wish a broken leg on Brady, etc. They do not really wish it would happen to him, they just say they wish it would happen. That is why I expressed myself as "I do not find this funny, and here is why." You (generic you) may find it hilarious, that does not mean I (generic I) do. On the other hand, I am the person that rushes to see if someone hurt themselves when they trip and fall instead of laughing at the fact that they tripped and fell. -

I know it is a stance too PC for some... to find no humor in disparaging the weak(er). I find no humor in tragedy, only sorrow. -

I expect no less from a few of the people in this sub-forum. Because after all, there is nothing "funnier" than never being able to see your loved ones, never being able to witness the first steps of your child, see your children graduate or walk down the aisle to get married. To never see a clear blue sky, the green, green grass, or the beauty of a snowfall. It is "hilarious" to live in fear of not being able to see obstacles in your path, not have the freedom to drive a car, and constantly worry if you can trust people enough to not hurt you when you cannot see the expressions on their face. Yup, nothing says "all in good fun" like blind jokes from people who can see. If I laughed about it, that would be one thing... but honestly? No, I have never found one single thing funny about being unable to see. And I thank goodness for my surgeon every single day for his ability to restore my sight. -

Again, put on a blindfold for a few days and see how "funny" being blind really is. -

I do not find those types of jokes funny. At all. As someone who did lose my sight (and thankfully had a surgeon who was able to restore it), I find jokes about blindness to be in very poor taste. Put a blindfold on for a few days and see what life is like without your sight. And then come back and report how "hilarious" that was. -

Why don't you want a wall built to help keep out human tracking, drug smuggling, and terrorists? -
Ummm she's something. How come all roads to chaos in first world countries lead back to George Soros? So crawling down a rabbit hole, Rashida Tlaib was paid by Open Society Institute (Soros funded). The 2016 tax returns for that non-profit. Open society grants. Story from December (which sources a lot more cash and non-disclosures for said cash ) : Congresswoman-elect Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) did not disclose the name of the source of funds for a fellowship that was paid by liberal billionaire George Soros—as required by the House ethics committee—and also disclosed a lesser amount than she received, according to a review of tax and financial disclosure forms. The Washington Free Beacon obtained the most recent copies of tax forms for a number of Soros's organizations, including the Open Society Institute, the legal name for the Open Society Foundations, the entity in which Soros pushes millions in funding to a number of liberal causes and organizations. </snip>

From a local San Diego TV station: CNN requests KUSI for local view on the border, declines our reporter after finding out wall works SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Thursday morning, CNN called the KUSI Newsroom asking if one of our reporters could give them a local view of the debate surrounding the border wall and government shutdown. KUSI offered our own Dan Plante, who has reported dozens of times on the border, including one story from 2016 that was retweeted by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and posted on DrudgeReport.com. The Border Fence Tour is below. (video) We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol Agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work. We have continuously been told by Border Patrol Agents that the barrier along the Southern border helps prevent illegal entries, drugs, and weapons from entering the United States, and the numbers prove it. </snip>

The campaign for new Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has made helping the working class and poor her top priority, was fined by the state for not carrying workers’ compensation coverage for a month last year. “The employer did not have the required workers’ compensation coverage from March 31, 2018, to April 30, 2018, and was issued a final penalty of $1,500, which was paid,” state Workers Compensation Board spokeswoman Melissa Stewart said. “This coverage is vital to ensuring workers are protected for on-the-job injuries.” </snip> -

This is a great thread for anyone who says "a wall is a waste of money" or "the US doesn't have the money". The United States government funds a LOT of stupid stuff (mostly as payback for political donations). A wall is hardly stupid. Put that money towards a better use; build that wall, Mr. President! -

I know!! We should do nothing!! We should let 30, 40, 50 million illegals flood into our country! Let's just give up on the idea of a sovereign nation and have.... open borders!! What a marvelous idea. /sarc ***** that *****. ? It will NEVER be good enough for some people. A more concrete form of border security is necessary. Start with 200 miles of wall. Then build 300 miles of wall, then 1000 miles, etc, etc, until it is enough to slow the masses. And then reinforce the damn wall to keep out people who are not citizens of this country, when they for some reason feel they can jump in line past people who come to the United States legally and feel they are entitled to suck off the dollars of American largess. -

{sigh} Catch and release... Congress is full of spineless $#@!!*& that have no will to deal with this through better laws... WHY these people are allowed to stay in the United States once crossing illegally is beyond me. Honest to Pete what do you think would happen to you if you landed in JFK from a foreign country and tried to jump customs? An appearance ticket!? Yeah, I don't think so. -

You think anyone in Washington cares about their voters these days? I know the old rule used to be 1 call (or 1 letter) = 1000 voters, but I have no idea if it is still applicable today. Would a call in campaign or an email campaign wake anyone in Congress up?
