I'd say she was set-up, but these are the people that signed on with it: Meanwhile, this pretty much sums up yesterday and AOC's very, very, bad day: -
WaPo story... Va. Gov. Northam reaches out to Lt. Gov. Fairfax and AG Herring, other men at the center of scandal </snip> Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) said Thursday that the state’s Democratic congressional delegation, which had called for Northam’s resignation, is withholding judgment on Herring, who is trying firm up support from Virginia’s black leaders. Kaine said that the delegation remained unified in its demand that Northam resign following his admission that he also wore blackface at a dance competition in 1984, in addition to the racist photo in his medical school yearbook. “We are likely to come out with a statement soon on the Herring case that, I think, we feel that we are generally in the same position – that he reached out to each of us individually, very apologetic,” Kaine told reporters in the U.S. Capitol after most of the Democratic delegation met in his office. “He is in dialogue with the legislative black caucus and African-American leadership in the state, and they have been impressed with his sincerity while they’ve been very disappointed with what happened.” Kaine, a former governor, said that the lawmakers felt Herring had been sincere in his apologies in a way that Northam had not, but the attorney general still “needs to answer questions of the press and the public too” to shore up support to continue in office. But the federal lawmakers could not agree on how to proceed on the allegations of sexual assault against Fairfax. “Everybody is still grappling with the allegation and trying to – we all believe it should be taken seriously but I don’t think you’ll see us reach a conclusion about that,” Kaine said, adding that the lawmakers would monitor events. “We’re going to watch it over the next couple of days.” </snip>

HuffPo. I won't go into how they never, ever, ever reported on Michelle Obama's high staff turnover (because she was the Wicked Witch of Washington), this is again, the first salvo to take this person out of the Democratic Presidential race, and get her donors behind the sacrificial lamb. What comes next? No idea. Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s Mistreatment Of Staff Scared Off Candidates To Manage Her Presidential Bid At least three people withdrew from consideration to lead the senator’s nascent campaign — in part because of Klobuchar’s history of mistreating her staff. </snip> -

Someone whispered in a group I follow that the DNC internal polls after the SOTU showed a much higher approval rating than the 70+% reported by abc, cbs, etc. Methinks that whisper must be correct if this is true. -
The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

I am kinda surprised they accepted the ad: -
NELLIE OHR: UKRAINIAN LAWMAKER WAS FUSION GPS SOURCE * Nellie Ohr told lawmakers in October that one of Fusion GPS’s sources was a Ukrainian parliamentarian whose government has accused him of illegally meddling in the 2016 U.S. election. * Ohr, a former Fusion GPS contractor, testified that Serhiy Leshchenko was a source for the Democrat-funded opposition research firm. * Leshchenko was the leading force behind the release of the so-called “black ledger,” which accused Paul Manafort of receiving illicit payments from the Ukrainian government. The ledger led to Manafort’s firing from the Trump campaign, but its validity remains in dispute. </snip>

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Has Fallen
Buffalo_Gal replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I can't decide if it will be Booker or the Hooker. With Cory getting a "girlfriend" for PDAs (bet they both brush and gargle twice after that) he's definitely prepping for a "real" run. Kamala obviously has baggage. Sleeping your way "to the top" (ok, the next level) is generally frowned upon by other women, and I am not sure many men will vote for her over President Trump. Anyhoooo I wish I had purchased more popcorn stock in 2016 as this has been one heck of a political ride, and I foresee only more entertainment to come. ? ? -

Liz is not the "chosen one". It is gonna be death by 1000 cuts as small items about her past are released to the media (and any big items will be saved just in case she appears to be making headway with the American public). When WaPo showcased the Texas license, you could read the writing on the wall. -

Welllllllllllll this opp took an unexpected turn. There have been whispers that Fairfax is a "creep" and his past was "polished" as he was to be pushed on to higher offices after the LT Gov gig was up. "People" expected him to be the next VA Governor, and then on to the White House. That appears most unlikely now. The question I have is... what else is going to come out about him? His handlers are said to be "most unhappy".

Here is a rundown on how succession would go: If the governor were to resign, the lieutenant governor — Justin Fairfax — would assume the office of governor for the duration of the governor’s term. That is what people thought would happen … </snip> If the lieutenant governor were elevated to the governorship or if the lieutenant governor resigned — now a genuine possibility — then the current president pro tempore of the State Senate “assumes the duties” of the lieutenant governor. Note that the president pro tempore does not assume the office of lieutenant governor. It is a subtle difference, but the office of lieutenant governor would be left open until the next statewide election in 2021. The current president pro tempore of the Virginia Senate is Sen. Steve Newman of the Lynchburg area. Newman is a Republican — a mild-mannered conservative who is well-liked on both sides of the aisle. Interestingly, he would not have to give up his Senate seat as he assumed the duties of the lieutenant governor. That means that he would get his vote as a state senator, and he would also get to vote to break any ties that arise in the chamber. </snip> There is more, and it is worth reading if you are interested in the Clown Show in Virginia
