The Deep State War Heats Up

RR speech last night : </snip> The rule of law is our most important principle. Patriots must always defend the rule of law. Even when it is not in their personal interest, it is always in the national interest. If you find yourself asking, “What will this decision mean for me?” then you probably are not complying with your oath of office. At my confirmation hearing in March 2017, a Republican Senator asked me to make a commitment. He said: “You’re going to be in charge of this [Russia] investigation. I want you to look me in the eye and tell me that you’ll do it right, that you’ll take it to its conclusion and you’ll report [your results] to the American people.” I did pledge to do it right and take it to the appropriate conclusion. I did not promise to report all results to the public, because grand jury investigations are ex parte proceedings. It is not our job to render conclusive factual findings. We just decide whether it is appropriate to file criminal charges. Some critical decisions about the Russia investigation were made before I got there. The previous Administration chose not to publicize the full story about Russian computer hackers and social media trolls, and how they relate to a broader strategy to undermine America. The FBI disclosed classified evidence about the investigation to ranking legislators and their staffers. Someone selectively leaked details to the news media. The FBI Director announced at a congressional hearing that there was a counterintelligence investigation that might result in criminal charges. Then the former FBI Director alleged that the President pressured him to close the investigation, and the President denied that the conversation occurred. </snip> -

Purchasing Farmland Behind Property
Buffalo_Gal replied to mike22nc's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You can get it appraised. My husband had 35+ acres appraised in Niagara County last year. Several realtors told him land was selling for X per acre, the appraisal came in differently (the land isn't landlocked). Without knowing specifics, make sure you get the mineral and water rights too. Get a survey. You can continue to lease to the farmer (ask the current owner for the lease terms), or not renew the contract. There have been a few solar companies looking for solar farm land in Niagara County - hubby keeps mulling it over but has not yet pulled the trigger. I do not know what town you are in, or if you would be looking to rezone, but check with the planning/zoning board(s) before buying if that might be a consideration for you... same for outbuilding rules. If you plan on building a barn or something on that plot of land it may have to be combined with your current primary property (you may need a primary building on the land to have an ancillary building - they may take into account that the properties are contiguous, they may not. Ask the zoning board to be sure.) -

I almost made a comment about the "several times" but like you didn't want to seem insensitive. I am sure there is more to the story than the newspaper article, but on the surface, O.o

How many miles currently are on your car?
Buffalo_Gal replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My 3+-year-old vehicle should hit 29K next month. Honestly, I have no idea how it has so little mileage as I have to drive to everything (not a walkable neighborhood) and have taken that vehicle to Florida three times. Hubby's vehicles get even less mileage per year than mine does. ?♀️ -

Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread

I'm more interested in what he's been promised to run. He has more skeletons than a graveyard, enough gaffes to fill a full television season, and he's an old white dude to boot. If he's not being paid, my only other thought is he is running to scream "political persecution" as the Ukraine mess shortly making its way to the masses. -

Don't blame Bill for either one of those losses; neither one would listen to him. Gore distanced himself from Bill instead of having him campaign with him. Word was out during her campaign that Hillary would not listen to Bill, and she lost (in part) due to that. People can (and do) say whatever they like about Bill Clinton, but even his "enemies" have correctly called him politically savvy. Those two were stupid (my guess is that in Hillary's case is she wanted to do it "alone" (ie, by herself, with no help from her "husband"), and in Gore's case he listened to bad advice from his campaign manager and a few others), and they lost (in part) because they were dumb. -

The best defense is a good offense? ?♀️ She's nuts. I'd say she lacks self-awareness, but this goes beyond that. -
Active shooter at Florida high school

Florida Supreme Court blocks former Broward Sheriff Scott Israel from getting his job back Suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel lost his fight Tuesday to have the Florida Supreme Court return him to duty. Now, in all likelihood, it’s up to the voters of Broward County to return him to office — if they want him back. The court ruled that Gov. Ron DeSantis had the constitutional authority to suspend Israel in January for his agency’s failure to adequately respond to mass shootings at Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland and the Fort Lauderdale airport. The decision all but ends Israel’s attempt to get his job back before the 2020 election — the Republican-led Florida Senate is able to overrule the governor’s suspension. </snip> Without Senate intervention, the former sheriff’s only chance of returning to his job lies with the voters of Broward County, who elected him in 2012 and re-elected him easily in 2016. That was before the shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in 2017 that claimed five lives and the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Doulgas High School in Parkland in 2018 that claimed 17 more. </snip>
