So much for the National Weather Service
Doc Brown replied to Roundybout's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That's what sucks about all these federal cuts. Needed or not. I wonder if/what their buyout package is. -
After 13 Seconds I'll never question Mahome's "clutchness" again. The go ahead drive. The perfectly executed two plays to get the ball down the field in 11 seconds for the game tying field goal, and then orchestrating another 70 yard drive for the OT winner was clutch. In the last two playoff games, despite it being incredibly unfair to Josh because he carried us to that spot in the first place. We did have the ball down 3 with a little over three minutes left that resulted in zero points both times. Bass and Kincaid are the scapegoats but better decisions by Allen may have led to not needing those two to step up. It seems like an unfair criticism but heavy is the head who wears the crown.

I get that sentiment but the Eagles also have AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. We don't have a WR close to their caliber. We don't have an elite player at two "premium positions" of outside WR or a defensive pass rusher (whether DE or DT). Any chance to get a stud at either spot via trade and sign should be on the table. You then can attack the other area in the draft. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Not sure him and the fans are on the best of terms....

Oh God please let this happen. Daboll and Rodgers are a match made in entertainment heaven.

We never trade for Diggs though and life just wouldn't have been as fun.

Hard Knocks Goes to College (UNC/Belichick)

Are we talking about Beane to Cook's agent? -
Financially the Bills are now in a position to make it work. The Diggs trade would be comparable I'm guessing as far as trade compensation goes. We just don't know the status between DK and the Seahawks though. This could be just pure gossip.
-
True but a lot of what allowed us to get to that average will revert back to the mean (turnovers). We forced the second most and gave up the fewest. We were only 10th in yards gained so we weren't some kind of historic offensive juggernaut last year.
-
Yeah. All the guys he wants to equal in price range are every down RB's. Kyreen Williams who is in a similar situation to Cook played in 87% snaps last year because he can pass block. James Cook can't right now. I'm not comfortable ditching out $15m to a guy that only played in 46% of snaps. It's my guess to why Beane hinted at the press conference on Tuesday the value of having running backs being versatile in all areas. To me that was a subtle reference to Cook not able to be relied upon to pass block.
-
Welker and Wayne are WR's though but I agree with most of this. It was the statement that you wouldn't possibly even trade Cook for two firsts that made me think your rationale went out the window. KC would get publicly roasted even if they gave a 2nd round pick away (yet alone two firsts) for a very good but not elite RB on the last year of his rookie deal.
-
Forget defense if this guy becomes available. Give up whatever trade compensation that's required, give him the bag, and Josh Allen will have a #1 stud WR for the rest of his prime years.

Shows how one play can define a legacy even if it's unfair. It's like the lasting image of Cam Newton not trying to recover the fumble in the Super Bowl.

Did not know that Russ Brandon was now president of the UFL. No wonder things aren't going swimmingly. What's the leverage the players union have? You're going to have to find replacement players for already mediocre football players.

NFL Combine Thread: 1 (PK, DL & LB's)

This is going nowhere as we obviously value running backs and James Cook differently. No team would offer us a 2nd for Cook anyways given his contract demands so we'll pry have a year left with him. If Cook can prove himself to be an every down running back and not be a liability in pass protection than he'll deserve top RB money.

Who was the Bills next best edge rusher after Bruce?
Doc Brown replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall
Single season was obviously Paup as he won DPOTY in '95. It's hard to argue against Mario Williams though (43 sacks in 4 seasons). -
Giants didn't receive anything for Barkley because he was a free agent. Plus, Cook isn't Barkley. Trading Cook for a 2nd would be defendable if you know you're not going to re-sign him next year. If the Chiefs gave a RB $15m a year it would stop them from spending as much money on more premium positions so it would likely hurt them long term.

A lot of good defenses? That 2013 defense was historic. First in yards allowed. First in points allowed. First in turnovers created. No defense had done all three since the '85 Bears. They held the best scoring offense of all time (the Mannng led Broncos) to 8 points in the Super Bowl. Lynch also wasn't even close to what Saquon Barkley did last year. He put up 1257 yards at 4.3 ypc. Barkley put up over 2000 yards at 5.8 ypc.. I think the Seahawks cruise to a Super Bowl with just an average back because of how historically good that defense was. Barkley was way more valuable to the Eagles than Lynch was to the Seahawks. Lynch a better case of being a seminal reason the next season where they lost the Super Bowl.

Ouch. So many great movies. Hoosiers, Unforgiven, and The French Connection. Obviously. Also, was easily the best Lex Luthor. Favorite line. “Where are you going? I was going to make espresso.”
