Gonzo Mock Draft Version 2.0 After Combine( Starts on Page 5)
Doc Brown replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting. Thanks. I wonder if each team had a 1st round pick at this point in the calendar before the draft. Goes to show teams value the draft maybe more now than ever before. -
I meant the best players possible that aren't in the NFL.

Tee Higgins franchised tagged by Bengals

Burrow wants to pad those stats. He can do that if they have a crappy defense and two stud #1 WR's. -
True. You'd think as a league though the way to attract viewers is to have the best players possible. Not sure how many players don't join the league because not many seasonable jobs give you health care coverage. It'll be interesting to see the details of the next CBA.

Let's not get hyperbolic about the lack of weapons around him. He has one of the best o-line's in football, a decent running back trio, two above average Tight Ends, and Shakir (okay, they might want to work on WR). I don't question his clutchness factor but I do question his decision making at times late in games or overtime.

Do they all sign one year deals? Is it a per game contract? Can they move back and forth between the NFL? Do they cover living expenses? Do they pay union dues?

Gonzo Mock Draft Version 2.0 After Combine( Starts on Page 5)
Doc Brown replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
Somewhat off topic but reading this it occurred to me that every team has a first round pick this year. Has that ever happened before? -
We can easily get out of Knox's contract next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted his replacement.
-
I'm not sure how their contract system works.

Jets planning to either trade or release Devante Adams
Doc Brown replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's the WR I hope that Coleman can eventually grow into. I think he'll have more enticing offers elsewhere but would love to have him here. -
Mighty suspicious this move happens right after the Devante Adams news breaks.

If they can't even guarantee basic health insurance for a year than it was stupid to even start the league in the first place.

That's a really good point about his workload that I hadn't considered. I just assumed the lower snap number was Ty Johnson being an excellent 3rd down RB with pass protection, blitz pickup, and receiving ability. To Cook's credit last off-season he seemed to put on some muscle as he seemed to have more physicality to his game. I think it was the Chiefs regular season game where he ran over somebody into the end zone that made my jaw drop a little bit. Still though any acquiring team would be well aware of his limitations so the best realistic offer I could see Beane getting is a 3rd rounder. If he does get something better though and his agent is fixated on that $15m number I'd do the deal. Re-sign Ty Johnson and draft a day two running back. What pry ends up happening is Cook remains but Beane adds some incentives in the final year of his contract. Cook's situation is why I was always so adamant about never drafting RB's in the first round. Fans can get too attached to them and the owner may put pressure even on the most analytic driven GM's to re-sign that player to a huge extension. It usually backfires.

I think the compensation is fair (55k for basically four months) but not having full year health insurance is bullcrap considering they play tackle football. If you at least can't give your players that then you shouldn't have a league to begin with.

There's a backlog in my opinion of guys who need to get in first. Ruben Brown, Moulds, Butch Byrd, Kyle Williams, and Aaron Schobel. If they let Hansen (no pro bowls) in then those guys should get in too. Cornelius Bennett is more controversial and maybe we can just swap him with OJ when going to the new stadium and nobody will notice.

That's why I don't buy it. His separation stats in 2023 were consistent with his previous three years here. I think Brady's system was the straw that broke the camels back with Diggs getting traded. He may have lost a little but not much. Now with the torn ACL it's doubtful he'll ever be more than a role player. Like I said, I'll believe Brady can effectively use a #1 WR when I see it.
-
I get both those sentiments but it's still a mystery to me of his sharp almost instant decline starting about halfway through the season. Also, I really haven't gotten a good answer of why Cooper was just an ancillary piece of this offense when we gave up a 3rd round pick for him. He averaged about 2.4 receptions a game (including the playoffs). The jury is still out on whether Brady can effectively use a #1 WR if we get one imo.

Adam Peters is killing it so far. Hires Quinn, drafts Daniels, flips Dotson for a 3rd, and now gets Deebo for a 5th.

NFL Combine Thread: 3 (RB's, QB's & WR's)
Doc Brown replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he's there at pick 30 Beane and Veach could do the funniest thing ever. -
O'Cyrus Torrence might be of interest to them. They really struggled on the right side of the o-line last year.

I don't usually just see that in the middle of a season though. It's usually during training camp the following year and a surprise trade/cut happens.
