A 27 year old WR that wears #14 that's been misused in an offense so far in his career with confusing character reports is available via trade? I'm just guessing but maybe a first and fourth should suffice.

Jags release Christian Kirk, seems like a Billsy move

I don't know about Hollywood Brown. I feel like he'd get injured getting hit by a feather. -
That's not how you spell DK Metcalf. Maybe a clerical error.

Three of the four times they got the first round bye too which is huge. The year they didn't we had to play on short rest because of a blizzard that delayed the game a day and had a cluster of injuries at LB. I think the Chiefs had two extra days of rest. The sole focus of the Bills this year should be to aim for that #1 seed. Two of the four teams are in rebuild mode in our division and it's always something with the Dolphins. I doubt the Chiefs go 15-2 again as there was some luck involved in that record and the Chargers/Broncos are teams on the rise. The AFC North will cannibalize each other like always. The only competition might actually be the Texans and beating them gives us the tie breaker. If we get the one seed and still lose to the Chiefs than we might just have to just beg the league to switch conferences.

Eagles reset RB market, extend Barkley.

I'll let some other team make that bet as I doubt the Bills give him that role this season. Protecting Allen should be the priority. -
Gonzo Mock Draft Version 2.0 After Combine( Starts on Page 5)

I googled it too and came away more confused. Lol. Thanks for clarifying. I think it might point to a trend that teams are valuing their draft picks more now than ever. -

If we win the Super Bowl Beane can pay Tyler Bass 60 million a year and I wouldn't care. -

He's not though. On 2nd down of the final drive in KC Cook whiffed on his block causing Allen to have the ball batted down at the line because of the missed block. They had to bring in Ty Johnson after that. If he was an effective every down back I wouldn't blink an eye at paying him $15m per year until his later 20's. -

The cap hit last year with three RB's was about $3.6m and we got adequate production. Beane and his scouts get paid to find the next Cook in the draft and use your money at more premium positions. -

You're the one who specifically said Beane broke his own rule and then gave a lecture on leadership because he broke it. -

I was speaking more hypothetically for Josh's next contract. Not his last one as it was obvious extending him as soon as they could would be the best long term financial move. I just don't think it's one of Beane's "rules" that he'd never extend a player more than a year before their current contract expired. Most NFL contracts are usually done via being free agents or having one year left on their current deal. Not specific to Beane. -

Um, guys. I don't want to speak out of school here but I believe Cook might want a raise. -

There's no way Beane would franchise tag a RB and pay him that much money for one season. I think he plays out this year and then will be able to hit free agency. I don't know if you can add incentives on the final year of a rookie contract but if you can it might avoid a messy holdout. -

Even Barkley only averaged 3.9ypc behind the Giants o-line in '23. I don't think the off-season training made him a better RB to where he shot up to 5.8ypc. -

He's never stated that though and would it surprise you if he extended Josh Allen more than one year before his deal is up? In Diggs's case I remember he was laughably underpaid for what WR's were making at the time when the market exploded with big time WR contracts (Hill, Adams, AJ Brown). There wasn't a clue even on here that he wasn't fully committed to the Bills and I'm sure he fooled pretty much everyone in that locker room. I remember the only worry about the contract was about if Diggs could maintain that level of play as he got more into his early 30's but that was mostly dismissed because his style of play would last longer than other WR's. There was no worry about him going full diva like he did though. It was in hindsight a bad move by Beane but it was certainly defendable/praised at the time. -
Even if Diggs stayed on the roster there wouldn't have much difference in terms of signing or re-signing free agents last year. Trading him for what now looks like really decent value saved us money against the cap this year. Beane isn't as hamstrung this off-season to trade and sign a Metcalf or a Garrett as simple contract restructures could create more than 50 million in cap space depending how much he wants to kick the can down the road. He's definitely not trading or signing both though and Cooper isn't in the equation of we trade for Metcalf.
-
Diggs had the most successful four year run as a WR in Bills history and that trade is arguably the best move Beane's made after drafting Josh Allen. Extending him prematurely was the mistake.

Did Beane ever come out and say he doesn't extend guys more than one year into their contract? If he did my apologies but your leadership advice falls flat if applied to Beane if that isn't one of his rules. -
Not sure about his leadership abilities but I am sure we are severely lacking at outside WR. It was borderline gross negligence last year before we signed Cooper. I could easily see the argument for DE over WR. Especially with what the Eagles did to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. However, Beane's number one priority should be to make sure the offense "doesn't lose its fastball" to quote McDermott.
