Probably. The NFL is a machine when it comes to marketing where they get everyone hyped about a schedule where we already know our opponents.

Beane elaborates on the process of picking Josh Allen
Doc Brown replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed but at this point to quote a former Bills GM "don't tell me about the labor pains, show me the baby." Beane lecturing us on WGR that we aren't appreciative enough for what they've done falls on deaf ears at this point. I really have no interest in listening to him anymore as he keeps reminding me more and more of a politician. Especially on national shows like this where he's not required to be on. He's still a very good GM but sooner or later people are going to run out of patience until we break through. I think we drafted/signed close to the same future all pros right before he got here in 2017 (don't know whether to give McDermott or Whaley the credit) than we did the last seven off-season. Could be wrong though. -

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
Doc Brown replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
The view is pry first. For me second is are their cup holders? -
True. He is a five star recruit for a reason but he still has to show it on the field this year. It might come down to who picks first in the draft. The Saints I'm guessing would be attractive situations for another Manning for obvious reasons. If not, Nussmeier would be a nice consolation prize. If Shough has a promising rookie year then the Saints don't even have to worry about QB. Point is, there's no reason to sign a veteran QB to go 7-10 or something like that.
-
Saints would pry rather tank for Arch Manning and see if Rattler or Shough can be their guy. Steelers may have a handshake agreement with Rodgers. If Rodgers doesn't go there they'd pry rather have Rudolph than Winston. Winston throws way too many picks for Tomlin's liking imo. I'd love to see another 30 TD, 30 INT season from him though.

I read it as middle of the season. My mistake. Taylor's a much more complete back that's only 8 months older that we'd only have to commit to for the last year of his contract. Regardless, at least we can agree that it's not good business to extend Cook now unless he significantly lower's his asking price.
-
I'd rather use the money to extend Edwards and/or McGovern right now. See if Cook can replicate last year and then either let him walk for a comp pick or put the non exclusive franchise tag on him guaranteeing he'll be here until his age 27 season is up. He'd still cost less than $13.2m I believe on a RB franchise tag. By not extending him now they also could trade for a truly elite RB like Jonathan Taylor next year if the Colts are in rebuild mode as he enters the last year of his contract. Replicate what the Eagles and Ravens were able to do with Barkley/Henry. There's other unexpected opportunities that could open as well. The point being there shouldn't be a rush to re-sign him this year as it could prohibit a lot of possibilities next off-season.
-
The way the Saints are run it's more likely they trade for Cousins, rip up his contract, and give him $100m guaranteed by restructuring 20 contracts. Then every salary cap isn't real idiot can do a victory lap.

I meant nobody reputable in their mock draft had Hancock above Barron. I'd question their overall knowledge of how scouts as a whole feel about a certain player. I know some didn't like Barron because of his arm length. Trapasso had Baltimore taking him at #27 in his final one. Sorry for the confusion.
-
If that's true than Chris Trapasso should find a new day job. Lol. Nobody reputable had Hancock above Barron.
-
I think most fans have learned that guaranteed money is the thing that matters most in a contract after the Watson fiasco. How do we know Cook doesn't want a 4 year $69.2m extension so his average is $15m over the next five years? I kid but the point is do you think he's worth $13.2m a year over the next five? I don't. Replenish through the draft next year and spend that money at more premium positions.

If Hairston becomes the next Elam and Strong becomes the next Benford then Beane needs to sit the first round out from now on. Let him cook on day 2 and 3.
-
Draft picks are always so hyped by fans that it's difficult to predict. Jackson Hawes I guess if Knox or Kincaid are hurt for a period of time. Can't we just ask who will be the most disappointing?

This is a family message board.

It has nothing to do with height.
-
The Bills. Why do you think out of all the positions (besides K, P, and special team aces) that running backs are paid the least?
-
Guess the team during the drought years that spent the most first round picks on running backs......
-
Reading the tea leaves his agent and Cook pry had a different price in mind after they started negotiating in early February when Cook started with his instagram stuff. I'm guessing Beane offered a team friendly but fair deal like Rousseau, Bernard, Shakir, and Benford signed. Take it or leave it. That seems to be Beane's MO when it comes to extensions. Yeah. Davis is definitely not at Cook's level and pry never will be. He'll be a lot easier to let walk after his rookie deal.
-
Even if you think he can defy the odds what's the hurry in extending him when you have a year left on his rookie deal and have the option of using the franchise tag next year? I guess I just don't get why there's such an urgency amongst fans to extend him now?
-
Not adding a RB in the draft makes me worried that Beane will give him an extension using this exact logic. Running back skill is the position most dependent on speed and strength. The human body will naturally deteriorate starting at age 27 regardless of the wear and tear on the body. RB's fall off the click the quickest and Cook is even more likely to hit a wall within the next year or two because relies mostly on speed. There's outliers to the age 27 natural drop off but I don't want Beane to pay for an outlier. Especially since we're paying a QB elite money and will always be skirting with just getting under the salary cap every year. Let him play out the year and if he puts up similar numbers I'd rather franchise tag him for one more year than extend him for top of the market value right now.
-
The non exclusive franchise tag should be on the table if he has the same impact this season that he had last season. No way I'd extend him though.
-
I'd be more open to it if the data of RB's declining after age 26 wasn't so damning. Beane has the rare advantage of seeing how how an older brother (siblings share anywhere from 37 percent to 65 percent of their parents genetic variants) declined once he hit age 27. I'd even consider a franchise tag next year depending on how he performs this upcoming season.

Trying to be more optimistic in life. I said I was being more confident than usual because the one seed is more attainable than ever at this point. Five out of ten of the teams that won the one seeds made the Super Bowl since the playoffs expanded in 2020. Once they started seeding in Super Bowl X, 53 of the 100 teams that made the Super Bowl were number one seeds in their conference. We've lost one this year. Darn it. There goes my optimistic goal.
