  1. Correct. Teams can assign two players each year with a post June 1st designation. It's also interesting to me that they didn't say take a pay cut or we're trading you (maybe not so bluntly). See how he looks and whether the rookies we drafted are ready. The two idiots that Beane signed who cheated complicates things and makes trading AJ or cutting Jones less likely. Last year the Bills started the season with 4 DT's (Oliver, Jones, Johnson, Carter) and six D-ends (Rousseau, Epenesa, Miller, Smoot, Soloman, and Toohill). I think they go 5 DT's and 5 DE's this year because of the two suspensions. DT - they pry be Jones, Oliver, Sanders, Carter, and Walker (who might be a healthy scratch because of his back issue). When the idiot DT gets back in week 7 my guess is that Carter will be the cut. Jones is definitely a possibility though. DE's would be Groot, Bosa, Jackson, Epenesa, and Solomon. When our idiot DE gets back in week 8 I'm guessing it's Soloman that gets the boot. This is of course assuming that none of these players on IR going into week 8. This may just work itself out naturally. I kind of miss the days where it was just keeping it simple with Mario, Dareus, K. Williams, and Hughes. I get the rationale behind the rotation but have never been a fan after seeing those four produce like they did in 2014.
  2. I don't know man. Quentin Johnston had better numbers than him last year. QUENTIN JOHNSTON!!!!!!!!!
  3. Since there's no tackling involved our defense would pry be really good at grabbing a flag.
  4. I have mixed feelings on Romo. He has a touch of John Madden in him with his general enthusiasm for the game. He's also decent at explaining exactly what happened on both sides of the ball after the play as far play run, blitzes, coverages, etc.. However, Romo salivates over the QB's too much. I'd hate Josh Allen because of Romo if I was a fan of another team. Always liked Nantz though and they have some decent chemistry. Basically the exact opposite of Michaels and Herbstreit. Yeah. I'm kind of baffled by the hatred too. He's basically Mr. Rogers in the broadcast booth. If you suck.
  5. Palmer's biggest knock on him coming out of college was his limited production. That continued in the NFL before Roman got there. Plus, McKonkey seemed fine in Roman's offense. I think Palmer is who he is at this point. I'd be happy if he's a slight upgrade over Hollins who should be able to get open against man better than Mack could.
  6. I'd like to see how many of his targets are throwaways compared to other targets. This may have been brought up before in this thread but I'm trying to make sense of the low catch rate and him receiving a receiving grade of 76.0 on PFF which ranks him 8th among 72 TE's. You'd think it would be much lower and I'm wondering if they look at times where he was open and Josh didn't throw it to him. Or if they excluded plays they deemed as throwaways.
  7. This is my simplistic opinion looking at all of this. Josh thinks he's throwing to Knox. Kincaid isn't as strong as Knox. How do you fix that?
  8. That and sometimes divisions get the short end of the stick with the rotating schedule. For example, a 10-7 NFC East team (plays the AFC North and NFC North teams) is a lot more impressive than an 11-6 NFC West team (plays the NFC South and AFC South teams). Just only re-seed them if you have an 8-9 division winner or worse.
  9. Great information. Thanks. It's wild to me that they don't have a better screening test for possible prostrate cancer with men over 70.
  10. I appreciate the insight. Cancer sucks. I know you're not a doctor but you seem to have a better grasp on this than I do. Let's for hypothetical sake they did hide the cancer problem and detected it early, is the treatment usually effective to the point where it would ever reach Stage 9 and metastasize to the bone?
  11. That's true and I for some reason thought he was in the '17 draft so Beane definitely gets an A+ for that one. The coaching staff seems to be a lot better at developing day two or three DB's compared to other positions.
  12. That as well but my first thought was attention hoore.
  13. I think it was 31 teams as the Rams were in efff them picks mode with the Goff trade up the year before. It can get exhausting though but when you haven't drafted an elite, proven player besides Allen fans lose patience. Benford and Groot could become elite soon and some would argue that Benford already is. Bears kind of bet on traits too with that signing as him being only 24 who's only getting better was the pitch that Poles gave Bears fans. It's not hindsight when pretty much everyone on here agreed it was a massive overpay even though many were worried that he couldn't effectively be replaced. He definitely wasn't a whiff or a bust but if you trade up for a player in the first round that's not a primary position you expect him to be elite. McBeane were hoping for their Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly in that round. Luckily, the one they hit on (and then some) was the former or they might not have jobs right now. I disagree with Bernard at his best isn't close to Wagner who has been the golden standard imo for ILB's with his play over the last five seasons. I think both contracts were appropriate.
  14. Oh. Got ya. Thanks. The sole point of my existence is defending ex Bills players that left two years ago that I feel in any way got slighted.
  15. 6 feet 1 and 1/8 inches.
  16. Us arguing about a QB selected 23 years ago is prime off-season. LOL. David Carr was never considered a slam dunk prospect. He had a strong arm but only one year of high level play in college mostly against defenses. It was considered a weak QB class and there were major concerns about his throwing release, holding onto the ball too long, and not going through his progressions quick enough. The Texans did him no favors as you don't build from the outside in on offense as it was a weak line. However, all the concerns coming out of college came to fruition in the NFL. I said elite QB prospects can overcome a terrible situation. Average NFL starting QB prospects are more reliant on the team and organization so they'll bust if drafted in the wrong spot. David Carr was never more than a potential average starting QB IMO.
  17. You saying that I said Rousseau had no impact and that was my only gripe. Your pesky stats proved me wrong. It is impressive that Groot's season was almost as good as Verse's who won Defensive Rookie Of The Year. It's funny because I thought the Groot re-signing at number was the best move Beane made this off-season and I came across as an anti Groot guy in this thread. If (and a big if) both him and Bosa stay healthy this year we could finally have a decent pass rush.
  18. David Carr's biggest weaknesses were holding onto the ball too long (very similar to Rob Johnson), reading pre snap blitzes, and would try to run instead of throwing the ball away (not ideal when you're a pocket QB). Give him a lousy offensive line and that's what you get.
  19. Yeah but Shakir and Kincaid would've made his role redundant as he's mostly a slot WR. It's the not trading up for Brian Thomas Jr. that's frustrating. Maybe they tried. Who knows? I'd love for Coleman to tear it up this year so he can shut all of us up.
  20. Right but the whole defensive line rotation purpose is to keep guys fresh. The fact that Verse played more snaps and still had a higher pressure rate carries a lot of water with me. Especially being his first year in the league. Rousseau's contract even if he's reached his ceiling was completely the right move by the Bills because it will look like a steal in a couple of years. I'd still rather have Verse though on a rookie contract if I had to choose.
  21. I read his first and nothing above that in all honesty. Even looking at your stats though you're assuming more volume would equal the same production. I think Groot is right below that elite tier of DE's but Verse's rookie season was better than any Rousseau's had through four years.
