  1. I think the ground rules were pry established when he was hired and am not even sure he needs his approval. Having said that, it's a lot of money so he probably did. No. They aren't.
  2. An argument made can be an elite goalie in hockey. Hasek nearly won us a cup in '99 with a ridiculous .939 save %.
  3. We're officially on Ty Johnson/Mack Hollins watch.
  4. He was my biggest buyer beware on the WR market this year. Chiefs did well to only sign him to a one year deal though.
  5. I think you would've been surprised at how much Rousseau would've gotten in the open market. I'm surprised tbh he re-signed here for that low of a contract relative to the importance of the position.
  6. The Bears gave Montez Sweat 4 years $95m ($24.4m per year) a year and a half ago and he never eclipsed double digit sacks in his career. I was pissed at the time because I thought he effed up the market for us re-signing Rousseau. We just got a 25 year old Rousseau at $19m a year (factoring in the 5th year option) for five years. That's good business.
  7. I guess Reid was tired of being "cut" wink wink parking lot deals.
  8. I don't know. I get my timelines messed up.
  9. He was also on the defense that ranked #1. That's pry the worst critique I've seen of the trade.
  10. I'm somewhat surprised by the negativity on this one. I understood the Bernard critique. I thought $20m a year was a steal given the premium of the position. I was expecting the 4 year $100m news.
  11. Hopkins wanted to go to a contender too and he signed with the 7-10 Titans because they offered more money. Seattle not willing to pay him over $30m a year on the next extension is the reason he's leaving Seattle. I think the money in the new contract will take precedence over the weather or chances of signing with a contender. The Raiders make a lot of sense as Carroll might want to reunite with Metcalf too. They're 2nd rounder is pick #37 and that's might be all it takes to acquire him. Who knows what the relationship is between Geno and Metcalf is though.
  12. The real test will come this year and if he has a Spencer Brown type post contract extension year this will look like a bargain. Bills brass obviously believes in taking that calculated risk.
  13. I take it Diggs isn't the best man.
  14. His non DK Metcalf games were rough. Other than that, he's pry in that 15 to 20 range of starting QB's. When I close my eyes though I just can't ever picture him holding a Lombardi trophy over his head. Seahawks were just treading water so it was a good move by them imo.
  15. The agents seem far apart based upon Cook's social media posts. None of the other extension candidates have taken to social media so it's harder to determine how close they are to an extension.
  16. I agree. With the extension Barkley will be two years out so he'll be playing at $16.5m per season. Cook would be around $12.5m per season if they give him a 4 year $60m extension. Whether Beane thinks that's too much for a player that only plays around 50% of the snaps we shall see.
  17. He was outstanding this year. He's everything we thought Elam could be at this point. The two concussions he had at the end of the year scare me a bit though.
  18. You're basically saying that contracts rise every year with inflation of the salary cap and I think most people get that. I'm interested if the Rams give Kyreen Williams an extension as he's put up similar stats to Cook but is an every down back. He had over 100 more carries than Cook last year. If he gets around $17m per year than around $15m should be about the range Cook is extended for imo.
  19. The contracts really only work that way with QB's for some reason. It's such an important position that once you think you have your guy you have to pay them top of the market franchise money. By your logic Bernard would've been paid more than the $17m/year that Baun just signed for.
  20. I'd rather have Bernard at 4 year $50m than Edmunds at 4 year $72m. Especially given the contracts will be three years apart since Bernard extension won't kick in until 2026.
  21. Gosh darn it.....
  22. Nabbing Dorsey from Alabama is an underrated Sean McDermott move even if they butted heads that last season.
  23. Either position is desperate for a significant upgrade. We're not even sure if the Browns will shop Garrett at this point. Whenever you can acquire elite talent at a premium position of need you do it imo.
