It was a 3rd round pick for Rudolph. Big difference. Plus, Big Ben has been hinting at retirement like Favre was at the time. I think it was March of 2005 when Favre said he'd be back next season and wouldn't commit beyond that. Unless there's something going on behind the scenes, I haven't heard Rodgers mention the possibility of retiring any time soon.

Definitely a wasted pick. Love almost threw as many picks as touchdowns last year. It's even more damaging than a wasted pick though because it creates a toxic locker room. Huge mistake by the Packers that will likely cost LaFleur his job down the road.
-
Two reasons. Rodgers was a much more highly touted prospect than Love as their was debate about him possibly going #1 while Love was barely considered a first round pick and is a huge project. The Packers only took Rodgers because he fell to them at #24 and couldn't pass on the value. Also, Favre had already started his yearly retirement talks so they didn't even know at the time if he'd be back that year for sure. If Tua or Herbert fell to them at #30 then I'd be all for drafting Rodgers eventual replacement. All they did by drafting Love was waste a 1st round pick on somebody that won't help them win now. It's just going to create a toxic locker room for a quarterback that compares more with Bortles as a prospect than Mahomes.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Doc Brown replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The hell it isn't. You'll get less selection and higher prices if the meat industry takes a hit. -
The only way it makes sense is if they thought Love was a once in a generation prospect. Rodgers has four years left on his contract and they'd have to wait until after the 2022 season if they don't want to swallow a ton of dead money. They were one win from the Superbowl and they could've used that pick to address their offensive line or provide Rodgers with a #2 WR opposite Devante Adams in a WR rich draft. On top of that they gave up a 4th round pick to move up fro Love and drafted a RB. This is the kind of draft that would make more sense next year at the earliest.

He's a punter. What's he going to tell us? Patrick Mahomes car is red. -

Joe Namath was a good draft pick. -
Tyler Bass, kicker, might be Bills' best pick

Hold on. Let me see Folk nail two 53 yarders against us. Yup. Kicker's important. -
He pry gives you the best value. I could see him putting up the numbers Kareem Hunt did as a rookie in that offense (1,327 rushing yards, 488 receiving yards). The award usually goes to QB's or RB's.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Doc Brown replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I would idiot proof it for him and just have him ask likely questions without allowing reporters in. Since it's a Black Swan event I'm glad at least one country took a different approach so we can better prepare for the next one. It definitely wouldn't have been the right approach for NYC but pry a good idea for the more suburban/rural areas of the country that haven't been hit as hard. -

Realist. He sees it's hurting him more than helping him. I'd honestly just have the doctors talk and maybe just have Pence there since he is head of the task force. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Doc Brown replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So, the theory is that even though they have double the deaths per capita from other similar countries that herd immunity will cause less deaths in the long run. It's an interesting way of implementing things and I guess the long term numbers will speak for themselves but they're basing that off an assumption. That's quite the gamble and it will be interesting to see how much it actually helps their economy in the long run. -

Out of curiosity, how does Sweden's death rate per capita from Covid-19 compare to other Nordic countries? -
Jameis Winston signing 1-year deal with Saints

I think both their legacies are already cemented but Belichick has more to lose legacy wise than Brady. Brady has a valid excuse if he fails. He'll be 43 fricken years old and his arm could fall off like Peyton's did his final season. Belichick can't use the age excuse. That 11-5 season you mentioned was with a team which remained largely intact went 16-0 the year before. You could make the argument without Brady they saw a five win drop off. His overall record as a head coach without Brady starting is 54-63. He'll still be remembered as the greatest coach ever but if he can't succeed without Brady the gap between him and 2nd best won't be as wide. -
I'm more cynical when it comes to politics way before any of this happened. It's been the norm well before Trump took office. I watched a party try to use the birther movement and their network to delegitimize a duly elected president under the guise of protecting the constitution's integrity. I watched the excess of the Benghazi trials where McCarthy let the rabbit out of the bag that it was really about hurting Hillary politically knowing she'd pry be the 2016 nominee. I watched the absurdness of what was supposed to be an investigation into an Arkansas land deal turn into a sex scandal that led to impeachment. I watched a Republican primary where the "bring decency back to the white house" president stirred up a rumor that McCain had an illegitimate black child. It's always been a blood sport where no accusation is beyond the pale and it turns people off to politics.

I know but I like their coaching staff, their upgrades on the o-line, and it's a better offensive system that's more dedicated to the run (Chubb and Hunt) which should open up large plays down the field to OBJ and Landry. Their defense is above average. Signing Keenum as a backup QB was also a smart move. It's hard to argue that personnel wise they aren't as good as us.
-
They went 14-2 last year and kept their team largely intact. Plus they added Campbell and had a very good draft. Even though they laid an egg last year in the playoffs, I don't see them regressing from last year.

I'm more of a tier guy. I think the Browns are going to be better than people think. Tier 1 - Chiefs, Ravens Tier 2 - Bills, Colts, Steelers, Browns, Titans Tier 3 - Texans, Broncos, Patriots, Raiders, Jets, Chargers Tier 4 - Dolphins, Bengals, Jaguars

Reggie Bush: Aaron Rodgers to NE?
Doc Brown replied to John Gianelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd watch that Hard Knocks seeing Belichick criticize Rodgers at a film session in front of the whole team. They wouldn't last a week together. -
Fair enough. I think most honest people would admit that the Trump Russia thing just didn't add up. My main reasoning was the Trump campaign was way too dysfunctional and disorganized to pull any kind of collusion off. The Trump/Ukraine situation was inappropriate but not impeachable based on the evidence presented. I get bored with this forum unless something significant happens as it's basically right wing talking points by numerous posters (with some exceptions) combined with a few left wing trolls. This thread being a good example and the post about "group think" only being applied to the left gave me a chuckle.

COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic
Doc Brown replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall
Just wanted to put this tweet out there to give you an idea of how much the testing capacity has improved in a week. Sadly, the deaths are still pretty high. -
Does the right constantly using this phrase count as group think? At least it's not "This is how you got Trump." What's interesting is when Trump does say something stupid the jerk reaction for posters on here is to seek out the media's overreaction to it instead of just saying, "Yeah. That was a really dumb thing to say."
