They pry are fine with Barkley because it’s the same regime that thought starting Peterman was a good idea. Barkley (who couldn’t even make a roster) has a good game against the Jets and suddenly he’s the answer at backup despite being horrible as a starter previously. If Allen goes down we’re screwed like the Steelers were when Big Ben went down. A wasted season despite an elite defense as the duck and the reindeer were terrible. Allen’s style of play makes the backup even more crucial. I’d like them to make a hard push for Mariota who may have to come to grips with the fact that the best he can be is a high end backup at this point. Dalton may be in that same position. I’d also take Keemun ahead of Barkley. Hell, bring in Kap for a workout to create a really fun offseason on here.

Really liked what Beane had to say today

They started the year with Star/Oliver and then substituted in Harrison/Phillips. I don't know if the Bills keep Liuget or draft a backup for Oliver if they decide to move on from Phillips. -

I think Phillips walks as this regime has made DT a priority since they got here (Star, Harrison, Oliver) so the depth is there. I'm all for an upgrade at DE and would love for Beane to pursue the top FA available or negotiate a trade for an elite pass rusher. If Beane doesn't think he can pull it off then I think resigning Shaq should be a priority as you don't want to regress at that position and then draft a pass rush specialist to rotate in. -
The Rooney Rule (still) isn’t working?
Doc Brown replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like the rule because the rule itself sends the wrong message. It states that you have to interview a potential head coaching candidate based on their race (not experience, past performance, potential). It just leads to sham interviews and that causes that candidate (and those who are fans of that candidate) feel used because they happen to be born of a certain race. Thus exasperating racial tensions. The NBA has eight black head coaches and they didn't need a Rooney type rule to do it. The diversity committee should focus on growing the pipeline for people of color to advance up the coaching food chain. -

Three out of 32 head coaches are black. Less than 10%. Approximately 13% of population is black and I believe around 70% of NFL players are black. So, no. It’s not working and needs to be tweaked or eliminated. -
Tepper was an aggressive hedge fund manager known for taking risks who thrived during recessions. If there was competition between him and the Giants for Rhule he wasn't going to lose and the contract reflects that. Not having that pressure of being fired lets you build a team the right way in your image too.

Here's what I'd take away. -We were lucky to escape with a victory as we came out flat which is typical of us in the playoffs. Need a much better effort against the Chiefs. -Watson struggled early but his performance in the second half was encouraging to earn his first playoff win. Hopefully, winning a playoff game is just another hurdle in the eventual road to the Super Bowl. He showed the "clutch" gene that we saw at Clemson. -We desperately need to upgrade our offensive line as Watson was sacked seven times. -Bill O'Brien calling a qb sneak on 4th and a little over yard to try and ice the game was incredibly dumb considering the Bills knew it was coming. He was lucky to escape with a victory and we'll have to put up with him for at least another season now. -Even I was embarrassed as a Texans fan at how much ABC drooled all game over JJ Watt. -I hope Fuller and Joseph are ready to go against the Chiefs.

Next year this team is going to have to deal with a tougher schedule, heightened expectations, probably more injuries to overcome, and a lot more traveling. If Josh Allen continues to progress I think we'll be fine. I have enough faith in Beane that he'll make the most out of the draft and be aggressive yet wise with the 80 million in cap space.

Is Tre White worth top corner money?

Panthers defense regressed quickly under McDermott when they lost Norman. I don't think McBeane makes that same mistake twice. -
The REAL reason Duke Didnt Catch The TD Pass
Doc Brown replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he had the speed Metcalf had he'd be making 20-25 million a year on his second contract for the team lucky enough to draft him. -
Cleveland interviewing Jim Schwartz for HC
Doc Brown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'd also have to deal with the divas around him in OBJ and Landry. I can understand the talent argument being the best he's ever had to work with, but he'd have to have a lot of faith they're committed to rebuilding their o-line. -

Would you really want to leave Josh Allen for Baker Mayfield? Plus, he's already been an OC in Cleveland so a lateral transfer seems unlikely at this point. -
He was talking about those who already joined the military was mostly due to financial reasons. That's the new "draft." The low unemployment rate we've had since 2015 or so has made it more difficult for recruitment (that and young one's are getting fatter).

Kirk Cousins Has Some Words After the Game
Doc Brown replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I put a small amount on the moneyline for the Vikings because Cousins is clutch in 1:00 games and horrible in any time slot later in the day. I plan to bet the 49ers heavily as next week is a 4:35 game. -
Right, but the defensive guru turned us from the 4th ranked defense under Schwartz to the 19th two years in a row. That amounts to a mediocre football team.

Besides Ford I'm very happy with our other picks in the first five rounds (Oliver, Singletary, Knox, Joseph). It's really hard to knock all your picks out of the park.

NFC Playoff Games: Seattle at Philly, 4:20 EST
Doc Brown replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Drafting a guy who you could've easily predicted would become a headache in a city like Buffalo was the bigger mistake. Plus, drafting a RB in the 1st round is idiotic in this day and age. We did it three times in eight years. -

Losing Jackson, Jeffrey, and Agholor has made them very boring offensively. -
