  1. They can be but you're rewarding mediocrity in the regular season. The 8-8 Steelers would've gotten in with Mason Rudolph as the quarterback if this playoff system was in place. The year before the 8-7-1 Vikings would've made it in the NFC. I don't want to see them in the playoffs.
  2. Most of these I agree with. Banning smoking in bars/restaurants is one of the best laws enacted as I fricken hate that cigarette smell.
  3. Mine as well go eight playoff teams and go full ###### (NHL, NBA) to further devalue the regular season. You're going to see more resting of starters at end of year for playoff teams as that 2nd seed bye is now out of play. Just love the NFL fixing something that wasn't broken for a cash grab.
  4. Davis has potential but dealt with injuries. He's also had a problem with drops since entering the league which isn't good when you have a quarterback that throws the ball really hard without the best ball placement. AJ Brown made Davis look really bad last year considering Davis was the 5th pick in the draft. If you can get him cheap he may be able to turn his career around but I wouldn't count on him.
  5. Just look at 1st round WR's taken in the last five drafts and it's like flipping a coin..... Cooper, White, Parker, Agholar, Perriman, Coleman, Fuller, Doctson, Treadwell, Davis, M. Williams, Ross, Moore, Ridley, M. Brown, and Harry. I'd take Diggs ahead of any of them except Cooper. There's at least four busts in there and a few who've underwhelmed.
  6. 1.) Diggs was drafted in the 5th round and Spielman is an above average GM who won't give him away for peanuts. It will be at least for a 1st round pick. 2.) The #14 will always be Frank Reich's number.
  7. Bummer. I have no choice but to hope he lost a step and fails miserably.
  8. Thielen is excellent with his release against press coverage as he'll physically manhandle CB's with his upper body. Other than that Diggs is his equal or better in pretty much every aspect. Especially in and out of breaks and tracking the deep ball.
  9. Cook is pry their best weapon but salary cap reasons come into play. He doesn't punch nets or call GM's crackers. He's making around 14.4 million a year so that puts him just outside the top 10 in terms of average annual salary. We have the cap space to maybe sweeten the contract a little. I'd rather go with a proven commodity.
  10. That's why I used the declaimers "if he checks out medically" and "could." We'll get a better picture after the pro day and combine.
  11. If Tua checks out medically then there will be a few who make the argument he should be the first pick. Burrow does have some leverage in the sense that if he comes out before the draft and says he'll play for any team but the Bengals because they have a horrible owner. You could see an Eli Manning/Phillip Rivers type trade happen then between the Bengals and whatever team picks Tua.
  12. -Turn WGR on and Steve Tasker says "wasn't he the guy the Bills traded for Hughes?" Sigh. -Immediately change station.
  13. Lions show "interest" in Tua. Miami hearing this and makes the Redskins an offer they can't refuse to move to #2 to pick Tua. Lions draft Chase Young at #3.
  14. Thank god. Why you'd want to discuss them at all is beyond me.
  15. I question the Lions strategy of trying to trade players who perform for them. This is a hard pass given he's pushing 30 and we have to resign White eventually.
  16. They also get to play the NFC East like we enjoyed last year.
  17. He died in a plane crash a few days after recording that song Bolton was like 14 at the time.
  18. I'm game for changing it to just York, Jersey, and Hampshire. Rename New Mexico to Montezuma to avoid confusion. Combine the Dakota's and Virginia's. Make Puerto Rico and Canada states so we don't have to change the stars on the flag and we can get across the Peace Bridge quicker.
  19. The Seahawks, Redskins, and Bills apparently. He's not washed up yet as he put up nearly 600 yards last year despite catching passes from Kyle Allen, Will Grier, and a decrepit Cam Newton. There's a reason he's in high demand as he's an upgrade over Kroft and Sweeney. Great hands, knows how to get open, and would provide a reliable safety blanket for Allen. They also won't have to commit to him long term. Olsen and Knox can be quite the 1, 2 combination.
  20. 15 yard cushion and he calls a fair catch falling backwards. This is why the XFL won't last.
  21. I know you did. The point is there really hasn't been any real bipartisan legislation passed since the early 2000's due to both parties continuing to move in the opposite direction leading to increased gridlock. The only thing they can agree on seems to be extending the Patriot Act (just changing the name) and increased domestic/military spending.
  22. Our pursuit of Olsen makes me think it's unlikely we go after any of these guys as they pry expect Knox to develop into a premier TE. Giving a short term contract to a veteran that can help mentor young players and still produce on the field fits McBean's MO (K. Williams, Alexander, Gore). It's more likely we give a big contract to a premier guard or tackle to beef up the o-line than any of the players listed above.
