NFL to Have Vote That Would Alter Playoff Seeding
Doc Brown replied to Doc Brown's topic in The Stadium Wall
NFL loves its rivalries. Think they'd prefer five out of conference games over two. Some teams would rarely if ever play each other which would suck for some fans. A Bills fan in Atlanta might never have an opportunity to see the Bills play there. At minimum now they'd play there at least once every eight years. -
Try saying Saskatoon Suskatchewan five times.

It would be a great troll job if you had Fields at #5 on your list. -
NFL to Have Vote That Would Alter Playoff Seeding

We're the suckers that watch the two extra Wild Card games each year. They'll never go back to a twelve team playoff field because that third Wild Card spot means more pivotal games at the end of the year and the NFL makes a lot of money with those two extra Wild Card games. Unless they add two more teams in each conference I doubt they'll ever have three divisions again because two divisions will have six teams and one will have five. I think the NFL likes this format. It guarantees you a playoff birth which should be good enough. I think the only tweak that's possible is if you win the division going 8-9 or worse than you are the 7th seed and the three Wild Card teams are 4th, 5th, and 6th in seeding. Other wise, they keep it the same. -
First of all, Kincaid and Coleman are different. Kincaid's separation stats were elite for a TE. Brady/Josh was more of a problem than Kincaid. Kincaid's stats were identical pre and post injury. Brady, Allen, and him need to get on the same page if they want this offense to truly be elite. Coleman was inconsistent before the injury and reading the tea leaves he didn't work as hard as he should've to recover from the wrist injury. That's on Coleman.

When you're lacking a premium position player on either side of the ball and have a chance to do it you should or we'll just keep winning our annual Wild Card games. I don't think our offense had a no punt game or something like that against KC.
-
No. I'm taking to to the grave with me. Same goes for not aggressively pursuing Hopkins when he was still elite going to the Titans when the Bills could've made it work salary wise when we were desperate for outside WR talent. A guy that could've been that could've been that true difference maker down three with three something minutes ago against the Chiefs two years in a row. So, if Josh Allen is out for the year we can't use that as an excuse? Seems a little unfair to Trubisky.

Kincaid is the most obvious player Beane's drafted that will make a huge jump his third year (more obvious than Brown, Knox, Cook, T. Johnson, etc.). Just watch last year's tape and please tell me how Allen/Brady weren't more to blame for Kincaid's struggles than Kincaid.

A lot of fans wanted Worthy too if we're going to be fair when looking back at this class five years from now.

That is kind of a fun hypothetical for this year. I'd make the assumption they brought Hollins back if they drafted McConkey. Who'd you rather have as WR's in 11 personnel... Coleman, Shakir, Palmer/Samuel or Hollins, McConkey, Palmer/Samuel?
-
I really don't get the Moore hype and that would be disappointing if Coleman wasn't the week 1 starter. His rookie year he was basically tied for the lead in snap count percentage per game started with Hollins among WR's. I'm guessing it will be mostly a three man rotation (Coleman, Palmer, Samuel) for our outside WR spots in 11 and 12 personnel formations.

You called him a pretty good and mediocre QB in the same post. Which is it? He had the 7th best QBR in the NFL last year despite all the injuries. I know he went 6-9 but the 49ers defense had its worst year of the Shanahan era finishing 29th in points allowed. He doesn't look like a prototypical NFL QB but he's a really decision maker, throws with anticipation, is accurate, and can even make some off script plays. This helps make up for his average arm and smaller stature. I think he's a very good QB (obviously not elite though) and the 49ers won't regret this contract. -
I agree that you'd pry need a three term president with a majority in both houses throughout. However, to your point about China with Trump. You think he'd welcome Apple moving its manufacturing plants out of China to India. Instead he publicly chastises Apple telling them they should build here. He seems to want to have his cake and eat it too.
-
I think they have a nebulous end goal in mind but don't know how to achieve it without freaking out the markets. Their messaging and execution sucks. Trump just warned Wal Mart not to raise their prices because of the tariffs. That's like someone warning a car insurance company not to raise my rates despite two at fault car accidents in the same year.
-
Guys. I know. I was imitating Beane lecturing the fan base.
-
Hey. That game got Gabe paid $2.1m per catch playing for the Jaguars.
-
This is like 2018 all over with you guys again. You pry wanted Josh Rosen and Beane took Josh Allen. Now you have the gull to question Beane when it comes to constructing an offense? Again, this isn't fantasy football.

A year ago I guess I get it. I just don't understand it now. We lead the league in points when you include postseason. No one scored more points than us last year though than us, including the Super Bowl champions. We did it last year without Stefon Diggs. How is this group not better than last year's group? The offenses job is to score points. I get that we need something to fight about in the off-season but we need to stop bitchin' about WR's.
-
I think Brady's system is more dependent on having an X physical WR2 who can block and has decent ball skills despite not being the best separator. The problem is we don't have a 2020 Diggs on the other side giving D-coordinators nightmares taking the pressure off Coleman. I just wish somehow there was a guy available this Offseason that we could've hypothetically traded for without having to give up a 1st round pick.
-
I don't know but why are we talking about WR? We scored over 30 points in eight straight games last year. This isn't fantasy football. Talking about WR is one of the dumbest things we should be doing right now.
-
True and I guess at that point in the draft you have to bet on traits. McConkey would've been an even bigger head scratcher at that spot and we would've spent months debating whether he could play on the outside if Beane drafted him. Lol.
-
Which was the prevailing thought at least on this board to my recollection. I remember going into round 2 thinking Adonai Mitchell made the most sense at pick 33 because he was a faster guy who played on the outside who had a chance at developing into a WR1. I was even prepared for Franklin. I definitely didn't expect Coleman given Beane's comments in the past on what he learned about the WR's Josh excelled with. I hope Coleman develops into a true outside weapon but his rookie year was exactly what I expected.

Tua's never won a playoff game. Purdy's 4-2 with a 94.3 passer rating in the playoffs. I know he doesn't look like a typical modern franchise QB but he's better than people are giving him credit for imo.. -

I get it but I’ve seen enough off script plays from him where I think he’s a little bit more than just a good system quarterback. I’d take him above Tua, Love, or Lawrence if forced to pick. He has a high floor and can win with him at that salary if you consistently nail the draft.
