True. Although I'd argue the NFL does a better job than any other league in creating parody though in various ways (hard cap, schedule design, no lottery draft, etc.) than any other league.
JOK had a heart condition that apparently constituted the slide. Pry cost him around 10 million bucks in total contract value and no chance at a 5th year option.
Probably not but if they spent a 1st or 2nd round pick on a LB I'd be more inclined to guess they wouldn't pick up the option and make this a make or break year for him.
I feared a turnaround for the Browns when they hired Stefanski and got Baker into that offense. Luckily, the NFC North is so stacked that even if they win the division they'll pry be injury plagued by the time the playoffs come around. Patriots always benefited from a banged up Steelers or Ravens team over the years come playoff time.
He was only selected to one pro bowl on the original ballot so the 5th year option will be 12.791M. I'd see him wanting a four year extension or new deal like White, Dawkins and Milano got. It's hard to project contracts but my guess is he'd demand 27 to 30 million guaranteed. That might be enough of a difference to convince him to sign an extension if we do pick up his option. He could very well bet on himself but there's always that injury concern like you said.
I made a mistake and read it wrong. It's actually projected to be 17.425M next year according to overthecap. About bout a 4.7M dollar difference. More digestible though.
True but we're not sure if the Bills will be able to afford franchising him at this point. The cap is expected to take a significant jump from 2022 to 2023 so I lean to be on the safe side and just pick up his option now.
The franchise tag for a LB is projected to be around $19M next season. A $7M dollar difference. I doubt they put the franchise tag on him next offseason unless he has a monster 2021 season. They'll most likely either have to sign him long term or let him walk after this season if they don't pick up the 5th year option.
Now that the draft is over and the Bills have until Monday to decide on whether to pick up his 12.791M dollar 5th year option for the 2022 season. Was interested to see where fans stood on this.
