Doesn't seem to have moved the betting line yet.

Whatever...this is my suggested playoff alteration.
Doc Brown replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think they'll keep the current format until TV ratings fall. If you get to eight teams the importance of the regular season diminishes. I think seven is the sweet spot for playoff teams. -
Raiders had discussions with Belichick about becoming their HC

Wouldn't even be the best coach in his division. -
The best candidate by a country mile imo. Titans can't let him leave the building.

No. It's still the Bengals. Broncos are 1-6 against teams with winning records. Only beating the Bucs and I discounted the KC backup game. They're a very good defense (big test for our o-line) but have struggled against elite offenses which I'd like to think we are. They're not great at running the ball or attacking the middle of the field which helps us. Bo Nix is better than your typical rookie and he will hurt you with his legs but it's still his first playoff game in a hostile environment. Two weeks ago I said my preferred WC teams in order were Colts, Fish, Broncos.....................................and way down the list............Bengals. I think the Broncos have enough to beat us but it will only be because we had a bad day.

Analytics were never meant to be the end all or be all. It's just a tool you use along with human judgement and experience. If you're a terrible 4th and short team you'd take the field goal even if the analytics say go for the first down. The stats about WR separation are what they are regardless of who his pass catchers are. He has more wide open throws so his stats will be inflated compared to the average QB. It's a combination of scheme, teams loading up the box more often to stop Henry and Lamar in the running game, a good pass protecting o-line, and Lamar extending plays with his legs.

It definitely is but Lamar got 45 out of 50 1st team all pro votes and 49 out of 50 MVP voters last year. That's at least four voters who though all pro and MVP were different criteria. So, if Lamar gets say 28 first team all pro votes Allen could still win MVP.
-
I get your overall point but what does the pandemic have to do with it?
-
Interesting chart based on betting odds. Allen not winning would be the exception to the rule
-
Seems kind of cruel to wait until Tuesday but that's the Raiders for you.
-
Lamar seems like good value at +180 to +350 depending on the sports book. In my experience, that's a suckers bet. The sharps are on Allen based on the criteria with how MVP voters have voted in the past.

Gave up a 3rd round pick to get him too. Also, gave up a third round pick to pay for Sneed from the Chiefs. That's now the first pick in the 3rd round. Dear GM's, stop doing business with the Chiefs. Overpaying for Ridley, Landry III, and Awuzie didn't help either. He deserved to get the can.
-
Yup. That's it. Sometimes new head coaches will get the current GM fired though during the off-season (if they're smart). The obvious example is McDermott and Whaley not seeing eye to eye before he was fired and then hiring Beane.

Did the Bills purposely lose or is New England just plain stupid?
Doc Brown replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
No clue but half of the weekly Bills party we have was spent trying to explain to the casuals why both teams wanted to lose. We do jello shots every time the Bills score usually but on Sunday even we just did it every time either team scored. -
I didn't want to even bring that up but since you did that was my immediate thought listening to McDermott. I don't know if it was a physical or mental health thing with him or someone close to him. A football game with a bunch of kids (in a lot of our eyes) isn't that important. Plus, you can get great value on the Denver point spread right now.
-
If someone that close to him died I don't think McDermott would say "I hope so." Seems insensitive IMO. Oh darn. I'm casting aspersions.
-
Rest him. Make sure he's 100% for mini camp next season.

Nobody freak out about Cooper until Wednesday if he's not there. Promise?

1/5/2025 Week 18 GAMEDAY Bills @ Patriots* Post Game Thread
Doc Brown replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a really weird game to watch because both teams deep down knew it was beneficial to lose. If the goal was to get players their incentives, not get anyone injured, and lose to knock the Pats out of the one spot mission accomplished. Dolphins and Bengals getting eliminated was the icing on the cake. -
Out of all the crazy stats this year the most impressive imo is forcing the third most turnovers (32) and turning the ball over the least (only 8). A turnover differential of plus 24 is crazy and is best in the league by eight. That's coaching and making a concerted effort on offense to draft players/sign free agents that aren't loose with the football. Plus, Josh Allen not throwing into triple coverage in the end zone helps too.

Will Miami start taking calls on Hill?
Doc Brown replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
A little but the Chiefs let go of Hill while he was still in his prime and got much better compensation. My feelings about Diggs the person will always be mixed but I do know he hasn't had any of the legal problems Hill's had. -

People praise the Chiefs for trading Hill when they did and deservedly so. They knew the person he was though and knew it couldn't continue. I wouldn't touch this guy with a ten foot pole.
