I wish all he did was golf.

Palmer beats man coverage and Mack doesn't. Simple as that There's a reason teams played the most man coverage against the Bills than any other team last year. We're pot committed to Shakir, Samuel, Palmer, and Coleman. I don't blame Mack for going to a lesser team where he can be on the field regularly with Josh McDaniels who he had his most success playing under calling plays.

My first thought after the Palmer signing was we're not re-signing Hollins. An outside WR who can block who has a more complete skill set. So we were basically looking at the Jake Kumerow role if he stayed and I doubt he wanted that. Also, Hollins had his best season under Josh McDaniels so who knows what his motivations were and if Beane tried to match the offer.

Inflation is really hard to battle politically. It was coming anyways but Dems added fuel to the fire by pumping trillions of dollars into an economy that couldn't keep up with the jump in demand. You could just feel it every time you went grocery shopping. That's why they lost (not immigration) despite the stock market being near record levels. If Trump stops looking at the stock market to alter his trade policies then we're screwed. It's what kept him in check his first term.

It's unlike Rodgers to hog the spotlight like this in free agency but I guess sometimes you can't help the outside noise.

Who gives a crap. How do we not make that Metcalf deal?

That's a lot. Good for him. The barefoot thing weirded me out though.

Stop with the Metcalf stuff please. I'm still in mourning.

QB Justin Fields to the Jets as per Tom Pelisserro

Yup. That's the one. -

Geno Smith too. Zach Wilson will pop out of nowhere in 2030. Rodgers tore his Achilles there and Favre tore a tendon in his biceps there. Only Chad Pennington can avoid the Jets QB curse. -
Their skill sets aren't even close. Palmer is an X WR who can separate. Shakir is a slot WR who is great at finding soft spots in zones and has great YAC ability.
-
He definitely can.

Not much happened in San Diego last season.

Young studs in their prime never want to come here now that the grain elevators are no more. Gotta draft top end talent because teams don't let top end talent go. When they do you should pounce and that's why I'm ticked off about the Metcalf potential deal. I do like this signing though.
-
Just watch some tape on him. He can separate.

Do Mercedes get a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty? Enough said.

A great sign here that Beane didn't accidentally oversleep today.
-
He'll fit right in. LOL.

Go all in one way or the other. Apathy will not be accepted here.

Cheaper than Metcalf I guess. Makes sense as he's a guy who can separate. Pry an upgrade from an older Amari Cooper.

Josh Allen gets record contract extension $330 million
Doc Brown replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bill Barnwell did a decent write up on Allen's contract showing how much of a team friendly deal this really is. Tidbits.... In return, Allen has clearly taken a smaller salary than his performance and the quarterback market would suggest. At six years and $330 million, his new deal will average $55 million per season. That's below the top of the market, where Dak Prescott's $60 million average resides after his deal with the Cowboys last September. Allen's $55 million average ties him for the league's second-largest figure with Joe Burrow, Jordan Love and Trevor Lawrence. The difference is that those players signed their contracts in smaller cap environments. Burrow's deal came in 2023, when the cap was at $224.8 million. Love and Lawrence signed in 2024, with the cap then up to $255.4 million. The cap is now at $279.2 million in 2025, meaning it has risen by nearly 24% between the time Burrow signed his pact and Allen inked his. Put another way, that $55 million represents 19.7% of the current cap. That figure ranks 13th among active quarterbacks on multiyear veteran deals in terms of extension average annual value. It's closer to Derek Carr (who signed for 16.7% of the cap as a free agent) than Prescott (23.5%). Allen could have credibly asked for $70 million a year on a new deal. He could have waited two more years and signed for even more, albeit while making less over that time frame. Tom Brady (and Drew Brees, to a lesser extent toward the end of his career) was renowned for taking less money than the top of the market for most of his career to allow the Patriots to help build a winner around him. Though there's some truth to that statement, it was mostly over a four-year span late in his career, with the Patriots using some creative accounting to help keep his cap hits low at other points. Allen is doing this much earlier in his career than Brady. -
Now will they still extend Benford or Cook?
Doc Brown replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just because he's advocating for himself on social media doesn't mean he isn't a good teammate/person etc... McDermott went out of his way to compliment Cook for the work he put in to get better. I only see downside to using social media when it comes to contract negotiations but it's not egregious enough of "engaging in behavior that I don't believe Beane or McD will tolerate." How dare he stop following the Buffalo Bills on Instagram. Hell, if he gives us Diggs like production for four years if we extend him he can send all the cryptic tweets he wants. He seems like a quiet guy though so once he gets his money he should stop all the social media nonsense. -
DK Metcalf traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh, PA is actually quite nice this time of year. -
Josh Allen gets record contract extension $330 million
Doc Brown replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
We're definitely cap compliant now with cutting Von and giving Josh a new contract. At least $20m under I'm guessing. I definitely agree with the bolded though. We could've had Metcalf for a fricken 2nd and a 4th pry giving Allen a borderline elite #1 outside WR for the next five years. It was a rare opportunity and Beane blew it. Plain and simple. Edit: My point still stands about the Chiefs though. Doing cap gymnastics to make it seem like he's vastly underpaid at $45m per year because he takes less to win more like Brady simply isn't true. God I hate everything about that team.
