  1. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Golden Tate, great player, but he'll be 31 or 32 heading into next season and with the whole youth movement direction this team is going in, I can't see them making a run at Tate. Not sure of his situation but I wonder if he'll get an extension from Detroit before the year is done. Yeldon I mentioned in another thread, I think he can be a viable replacement if McCoy is done here. I also think they'll take one in the draft, earliest round I'd guess is third and latest probably the fifth. If they end up with a top five pick, they're gonna be in excellent position to get one of these big time DL coming up. Although, with so many needs, if they do find themselves in the top five, I'd be hoping for them to trade down and acquire more capital. Yeah, I'd be bummed if they had to pass on Ed Oliver or something but, they just have so many spots to fill.
  2. I prefer to smack my face on the floor as hard as possible when the Bills make me keel over, cause, hey, I figure it feels better than seeing them get their dupas handed to them each week lol
  3. Haha, fitting they call themselves Trainwreck, I guess. I mean, they could have a source, but could also be speculating. Like I said before, I think the fact that they label him week-to-week allows them some wiggle room if he misses more time than anticipated. I don't think the Bills themselves have actually said, "He's out until this date" it's been other media sources speculating on how long it takes to heal up from an elbow sprain but that stuff is dependent on the person. No reason to rush him, so however long needs, let him heal up.
  4. I mean, sure, I'd like to see Gronk receive his comeuppance but you know if it happened, the next time a Bills player came within 3 feet of Brady it would be flag city. "Sneezing near Mr. Brady, #55 defense, ten million yards, lifetime ban from the NFL."
  5. I was gonna mention what Yolo had posted about him possibly being out until December. I've never heard of that Trainwreck Sports so I have no idea how credible they are but given that the team refuses to put an actual number of weeks on when he'll be back and instead choosing to label him "week to week" is a sign that the injury is one that could heal up in a few weeks or could drag on for a couple months, just depends on the person.
  6. Yeah, I thought that too. But, everyone already knows us as the whackadoodles that hurl themselves through tables and partake in bedroom-time activities in the middle of a crowded tailgate. And given that it's near Halloween, I fully expect to see some people in big ol' wiener costumes out there. Maybe some with a sign saying, "Property of T. Brady." You have a couch specifically available to catch you when you faint? How often do you pass out, man? Maybe you should get that checked out.
  7. Not that its ever seemed to matter vs. the Bills but Gronk is (as usual) playing at less than 100% healthy. What I expect to happen is what seems to happen most Bills/Pats games... he's quiet for the first half and most of the third quarter but then when it counts, he goes off and ends up with 8 or 9 catches and 120+ yards and a score within the final 20 minutes.
  8. It's gonna be fine, man. He's gonna trip on one of them dildos and break all his toes before the game.
  9. I sincerely hope it's not a massive blowout. Hopefully the defense can get back on track and given that New England's defense isn't really setting the world on fire this season, maybe they can keep it kinda close? But, who knows, probably not. And at this point, I think most fans just expect the worst. Plus, Shredd & Ragan have been calling all week for fans to get nuts with the dildos.
  10. You stop, fella. I was just throwing out an idea as to why this dude believes Allen is in a good situation and maybe, just maybe, he believes the future could be bright given the fact that they should be pretty busy in the 2019 off-season. And I dunno what team you've been following but over the past two drafts, this regime has shown a propensity for trading around so of these 10 picks which you find so craptastic, I'd keep in mind that they probably plan to flip some picks and possibly some players to move around the board.
  11. Honestly, if I was Brian Daboll... I would go and see if I could get my hands on some Chan Gailey playbooks and schemes. That's right, good ol' Chan. Not a great head coach, but a pretty solid offensive coordinator. Don't recall what year it was, but when he was here with his island of misfit toys (Fitz, Stevie, Freddy, etc.) he really did a lot with a little. Of that receiving group, only Stevie Johnson had the ability to run his routes and get open on a routine basis, everyone else was open by scheme. Daboll has shown the ability to do that but yeah, why not take a look at what Chan was able to do with a not-so-talented group like they currently have.
  12. From what I can tell, he was struggling with pro OL concepts and whatnot. And that's typical for a young OL, even highly touted prospects nowadays are entering the league having put their hand in the dirt like, half a dozen times. The way the college game is played these days has impacted the development of OL and QBs the most. I think he'll have a chance to crack the starting lineup next year.
  13. Maybe he sees Allen's situation as advantageous due to them holding 10 picks and a nice chunk of change for free agents. Perhaps he feels the situation is so poopy it can only get better from here.
  14. They were kind of at a handicap when it came to free agents this off-season. They only had so much money to work with as they're dealing with all the dead cap money from the Whaley era. That's not to say they didn't attempt to bring in some decent players. So many people get riled up when a player doesn't sign here. Lot of people see a player they recognize coming in for a visit and there's 20 "Don't let him leave the building, OBD!" threads that pop up. People gotta remember, the player has to wanna sign here as well. A player declining an offer or taking an offer somewhere else isn't an indictment on the front office. It isn't a mark of, "Oh, they suck at getting free agents here!" Signing a free agent isn't quite as easy as just calling the guy for a visit and then trying to woo them so much that they wanna sign before the tour of the facilities is over, ya know? They did try to get better at receiver. They brought in John Brown and made a decent offer from what I recall but most receivers with options aren't going to choose the team with the unsettled QB position. They took a run at Maclin last season. They've inquired on guys that come up on the trade block. Can't win every situation like that, though. I like that they're much more active than past front offices in terms of trades and calling about different players that might be available. But anyway, to get back to the original question... I don't have too many adjustments I would make. I really think they're doing this thing the right way. For years, the Bills have consistently been a league-leader in a category you don't wanna lead... which is the percentage of the roster made from homegrown talent. McBeane is definitely working to change that as they aim to build most of the team through the draft. So far they've done pretty well. I think with the OL, I would've tried to identify my starting five a little quicker than a week before the regular season began. An OL has to have time to gel and create chemistry so they can adjust on the fly and make sure they get in the right protection. Some of their ills are on a rookie QB seeing defensive alignments he's probably never seen before, some of it is also on some players underachieving, but I maintain a good part of it was on the constant tinkering they did during pre-season. The WR group... obviously they expected more from KB, dunno what's up with that dude. He's in a contract year, has a chance to ball out and earn a nice contract, instead he's playing like a dude that doesn't wanna be here. He strikes me as the kind of player who was never really passionate about the game, but discovered he could play well enough to make some money and is just riding it as far as it takes him. Zay Jones I still have hope for, he's certainly looked better this season, it's just a matter of gaining better timing/chemistry with Allen and being seen more on the field. The rest of the group... ehhh... I would've thrown a nice deal at Deonte Thompson over a guy like Andre Holmes.. I know, special teams and all that but Thompson made some clutch plays last season and I felt like they should've done a bit more to keep him around. But, overall, I think their formula this season was gonna be the same as last: lean on the run and an opportunistic defense, take your shots on offense when you can. Just hasn't played out that way. TE - I like Clay but I honestly think his body is shot for this game. His knees consistently give him issues, I wonder at times if that gets in his head as he seems to disappear for stretches during games... but also, again, young QB not seeing the entire field just like Tyrod. Had high hopes for Logan Thomas but at this point I think he's just another guy. I've shifted those hopes over to Jason Croom who, I feel, can become a decent player. RB - I'm good with this group. They'll have to figure out what to do with McCoy this week but as of now, I mean... how much more do you wanna handicap your young QB? Kid doesn't have much to throw to and McCoy is the only playmaker they have. Allen is already in an undesirable situation with a shoddy OL and a lack of weapons, I mean, you gotta be careful not to mess with this kid's psyche. You have to at least show him you have the chops and ability to create a decent situation around him, even in a rebuilding year, because that has to play into the future. Gotta have the kid trusting his front office and coaches that they can surround him with talent and develop it further with coaching. I thought Chris Ivory was a good signing despite a lot of people going bananas over his, "BAH GAWD HE ONLY HAD 2.9 YPC IN JACKSONVILLE!" You can blame that on Douggie "I Refuse to Make Adjustments!" Marrone and his love of the "three yards and a cloud of dust" super duper power run game. Marcus Murphy is OK but he can be upgraded. I expect them to draft a guy in the mid-rounds next year and maybe sign a young back up (maybe another Jacksonville guy, TJ Yeldon has been on my radar for a bit now) that's shown promise but has been behind a more viable starter. QB - Toughest position to get right. For years we watched other regimes pass up on QB after QB, only taking a late round flier here and there. Signing career backups as band-aids and whatnot. So, I credit this front office with trusting the work they put in on these kids and doing what they needed to do to finally climb up the board and snag who they believe is their franchise guy. I credit them for having trust in their coaches that they can help the kid evolve, but at the same time, I kinda don't have any faith in David Culley... I think the only reason he's here is because he fell off the Reid coaching tree and maybe Reid gave McD a recommendation on the guy but for me, I don't like it. I know he's experienced and all that but I'd go out and try to find a young upstart coach with a head full of new ideas and such. I believe a guy like that would relate to a young QB a lot better than a dude who's spent the last 20 years coaching just about everything else on offense BUT quarterback. But hey, what can you do... DEFENSE Eh.. not much I'd change here. I like what they're doing. They have a solid rotation of DL guys, the LBs are coming along and the secondary is one more outside corner away from becoming a top 10 group. I assume the vision here is much the same as it was down in Carolina. Ride a strong defense and the run game and take a chance on a QB who might run hot and cold but always has the ability to make a big play. I feel that with Allen and that's why I understand how they compared him to Cam Newton. Cam is never gonna be the most accurate passer, he's never gonna stay inside the pocket 100% of the time, might hold the ball too long, might make a bad decision here and there, but, will have the trust of his teammates that he can make the play when the game is on the line (unless that play is diving to recover a fumble) and has that ability to make some "wow" plays.
  15. Solid take from the flip-side of this situation. For me, I would've liked Anderson to have been here earlier with the caveat that he was strictly in a mentor role and the only way he'd see the field would be if injuries happened to Allen or Peterman. I believe having a veteran guy like that would've been good for both young QBs. Peterman has really turned into fool's gold, in a way. I mean, everyone saw how consistent he was and how well he played through camp and pre-season so based off of that, yeah, I think most coaches would feel comfortable with him as their #2. But then, for whatever reason, kid can't keep it together in real games. I mean, you could go back to the Chargers game last year and say, "They shoulda seen it coming!" but of those five INTs, only like, two were solely on Peterman. Others happened due to guys not catching the flippin' ball. They saw how he played in pre-season and figured he was worth keeping around and giving another chance to. I dunno... I think if Anderson had been here earlier, I'm still naming Josh Allen the starter. I feel like a lot of the struggles on offense can be pointed back to indecision on the part of the coaching staff. The OL was off to such a bad start because they tinkered with the lineup all pre-season. First it was Groy, then it was Bodine, let's get Teller some first team reps, nope he's not ready, back to Miller, is Conor McDermott ready to go? No? OK, back to Mills. Really, from the start of camp and pre-season, Dawkins and Ducasse were the only two who were regularly lining up with the first team, and consistently at LT and LG. The other three spots they kept shuffling around and they were less than a week away from the regular season before they named their starting center. I've said before during this season that they needed to have that stuff together a bit sooner than that in order to give those five guys a chance to find chemistry. Combined with the indecision with the OL is the whiff of an evaluation they had with the rest of the offense. They obviously expected a lot more from KB. They keep saying Zay Jones is working hard and if you watch the tape, he is, he's getting open more regularly as of late, he's just not being seen consistently yet. They wanted to lean on the run game but they fell behind so early in too many games so they abandoned the run. The one week they do get McCoy going, it's followed up in the next week with a concussion for the guy, that's no one's fault, stuff happens. Charles Clay, they have not found a way to get him involved much. And the decision to roll with Peterman to start the season was a bad one. Trial and error. That's how you learn, especially as a first-time HC. I know people are frustrated and expected more this season but really, they exceeded expectations last year so I think that placed some unrealistic expectations for this season. My expectation was, yeah, they're going to lose games. But I also had hoped that they could keep some of these games close or at least make it interesting. It is definitely troubling to see how many blowouts they've had. It seems like the message is getting through, players say they feel pretty close as a team, they're all rooting/playing for each other, which is what you want. But there have certainly been games where they all just looked like they've checked out. Looked like that in Indy for sure. I dunno, that fumble Clay had seemed like it just knocked the wind right out of their already shoddy sails. I'm also sure a lot of the team didn't really have the utmost confidence in Derek Anderson. No offense to him, but he was coming off the couch with a handful of practices under his belt, can't expect a lot in that situation. I think long-term, they're pointed in the right direction. They've drafted pretty well so far. Jury is out on Allen, of course. Edmunds looks like he can be every bit the player they've expected. Phillips looks like he'll get better the more he plays. Taron Johnson has been a great find, pretty much the Matt Milano of 2018. Neal has a chance to provide solid depth and Teller likely has a chance to crack the starting lineup next season. Ray-Ray... I think he's an "on the bubble" guy at this point. And for 2017, can't complain with White and Dawkins. I think Zay is coming along, Milano was a steal, Peterman's a bum and Vallejo didn't work out, neither did Proehl. But so far, Team McBeane has drafted 14 players overall, they've cut two, will likely have to dump Peterman but still, they have four solid starters already with White, Dawkins, Edmunds and Johnson. We all hope Allen can become the guy, and we all hope Zay can turn the corner. Over the last decade, the Bills have always been a top-5 team in terms of rosters with the least amount of homegrown talent. McBeane is definitely on the right track to changing that and they're staying true to their word of building most of this roster through the draft and filling in other spots with some decent free agent signings. I kinda rambled on there for a bit, my bad, but, eh... I think it'll be alright.
  16. I caught some of their "Sports Talk Sunday" stuff on the 6 PM news and, honestly, these guys know 100% that the Bills were in for a rough year. They knew that the team was light on talent and experience, they knew they drafted a very raw QB prospect, a very young MLB, etc. They also know how much McDermott can get from so little, as evidenced by the playoff run last season. Despite the fact that they know all of this... they still need talking points to make people tune into their show and read their columns. Controversial talking points work the best. What better way to rile up the fan base than by having two of the most tenured Bills media guys start talking about how McDermott might be losing this team. They know exactly what they're doing while simultaneously knowing that the Pegulas hired Beane and McDermott for the long haul and will definitely give them plenty of time to finish their rebuild and see where it can take them. The Pegulas are the absolute last people that wanna keep firing and hiring new coaches every other season. They got stuck with the Marrone situation, they intended on keeping him around but he took his ball and went home. They whiffed on Rex because I believe Russ Brandon still had their ear and was telling them the team was "just a couple pieces away" and Rex was a "big name" that could sell tickets and get the media talking. Bad move, but they're young owners and you gotta make mistakes in order to learn. For all intents and purposes, they love McBeane and were very involved in the hiring process this time, whereas before, with Rex, I think they let Brandon and Whaley run the show a bit more and have them report back to them while also chiming in for a question here and there. Terry said it himself that he was always much more of a listener during the interviews for HC's before they hired Rex. I believe he stated he was more involved when they hired McDermott. We know they feel really good about the hire, they prefer to be hands off and allow these guys room to work. I don't see that changing based on the results of this season. They knew what they were in for. No pain, no gain.
  17. Yuss, 100%. He's made some great throws that definitely show you what he *can be* but, like any young QB, consistency will be the key. I'm sure he's more bummed than anyone that he has to sit out right now. Bad OL or not, no real receiving threats and a sputtering run game, kid loves to compete. Hopefully he can become the type of QB that elevates the play of those around him.
  18. Benjamin, not great. Ducasse, playing better than most think. Bodine, serviceable, they could upgrade but maybe a full season in this offense will help him progress some. Miller, not great. Mills, again, playing better than most think. Alexander, playing well for the role they have him in, providing valuable leadership/teaching to young guys like Edmunds & Milano. Williams, playing well this season, likely helping Harrison Phillips come along, and maybe now Jordan Phillips as well. Depending on how he finishes the season, the Bills will have a decision to make on re-signing him or not (Jordan Phillips, that is, I feel like Kyle retires after this season but if they finish the season on an uptick and they're able to make some decent upgrades in the off-season and if Kyle thinks they might be able to go for a playoff run, maybe he comes back, especially if the Brothers Phillips get more time in the rotation). Murphy, does get hurt a lot, missed most of camp and pre-season and just went down with an injury Sunday but he's not bad when he can go. Hughes, they've said it numerous times that they have him firmly in their future plans. They love the intensity he brings, he practices hard everyday, works his tail off, he's a good example of what the coaching staff wants to see from their players. Gaines, not great, but they can't all be zingers. Maybe Dontae Johnson or Ryan Lewis come along and get better. It's not as grim as you might think. And if they wanna keep adding to the DL and make it the strongest unit on the team, this next draft coming up is absolutely loaded with solid DL players. On the flipside, it's not a great year for receivers or offensive playmakers, which they really need. Oh, and backup QB, yes, I'd like to see them move on from Peterman, kid just implodes whenever the real games start. Anderson, I wanted him signed earlier this season to fill that mentor role, it's a bummer he has to start right now.
  19. If you're referring to Proehl, he was a 7th round pick, and one pick away from being Mr. Irrelevant. 7th round picks get cut all the time.
  20. Quiet down. Mama's heating up your bottle, it'll be ready soon.
  21. Great post. I expected it to be a tough season. The blowout losses are the main concern, though. Young team or not, gotta compete week in and week out otherwise these blowouts start to pile up and can quickly demoralize an entire team and crush whatever culture was being built. They may have overestimated themselves in certain areas but this is what happens when you finally rip off all the band-aids and truly start over. For over a decade we've been told "this team is close" and they were just one or two players away from making it over the hump. Year after year of quick-fixes, short-term planning, poor cap management, etc. So for years fans have called for the full rebuild. Now that they're getting it, most of them can't handle it and think swapping out another coaching staff and front office is the answer. What do you think a new staff would wanna do? Build the team in their vision. So it would be back to square one all over again. It's not a lot of fun to watch but just let these dudes keep working. Either way it's gonna be alright, because it's just a f*ckin' game.
  22. Look for them to buy, not sell. When the "McCoy back to Philly?" bullsh*t started, the word from Buffalo was that they have him firmly placed in their plans for the future. Same with Hughes. They're done trimming the roster, they're looking to add, not subtract. What are they gonna get for KB? A bag of Skittles? He walks in the off-season but right now they literally have no one else to throw to so he may as well play out the rest of the season. I've got no issue with this team losing games. My issue is these blowout losses. Can't keep having these. They're demoralizing. They're gonna cause players to check out, doesn't matter who the coach is, or the GM, or the owners, etc. You have to stay somewhat competitive even though you're in a rebuild otherwise your entire culture becomes, "Why should we ball out? The other half of the team doesn't, why should we?" They have to take the field with some belief that they can win or at least keep it interesting. Keep this up and they'll be taking the field wondering how much longer they're stuck in Buffalo until they can leave.
  23. Let's take "Sh*t You're Clueless About" for 2000, Alex. Pryor has a reputation of being soft and difficult to work with. He hasn't done much of anything over the last few seasons. Kamar who? They made an offer to Maclin last season, he declined. He's sitting on his couch because he's not worth what he's asking for. Same for Dez Bryant. Cooper would be nice but the Raiders are currently asking for a 1st. Not gonna happen. Thomas has been in decline for a while now and has a heavy contract.
  24. Right. The same "frauds" that ended a 17 year playoff drought. Quiet.
  25. And hire who? A whole new operation that's gonna do the same thing this regime is in the middle of: tear it down and rebuild. That's a surefire way to guarantee your team never goes anywhere. But I'm sure you knew that already.
