  1. Last season was a rough go for the whole OL, not just Dawkins. I understand how they want competition at every position but last season I really felt like they let the OL battles play out a bit too long. They still didn't have their main five settled after the final pre-season game. Then they rolled out Dawkins, Ducasse, Groy, Miller, and Mills. Groy was swapped out for Bodine, Ducasse eventually cleared the way for Teller, Miller swaped reps with Sirles, Mills was replaced with McDermott a few times. Just a lot of shuffling around. OL is one of those groups that needs to have chemistry and be a tight unit. As others have pointed out, they clearly missed the leadership provided by Wood and Incognito. This makes the Morse signing that much more important. I also like a couple of the veteran guards they picked up. I think their preferred scenario would see the OL made up of mostly homegrown talent, guys that they've drafted. So, Dawkins, Teller, Morse, Long/Spain, Ford. Something like that. All these OL they signed on such short-term deals, it makes sense that they'd wanna have guys that they've mostly drafted be their starters so they can have sustained success and not have to shuffle things around every season. Of course if one of the guards they signed wins the gig they could always extend them.
  2. Ah, ok. I was. I read a list of UDFA's on NFL.com last night and didn't see his name. Thanks.
  3. To date, I don't believe he's been signed as a UDFA by any team nor has he even been extended a minicamp invite.
  4. If Hughes still has gas left in the tank at the end of this season, I wouldn't doubt that they offer him a nice, short-term deal (one, two, maybe three years) and then if he plays out that deal and still wants to play, maybe that's what they keep doing. Kind of how they worked Kyle's contracts over his last few years here.
  5. Can't wait til this guy is throwing tantrums by week four because he ain't getting his targets. He will have nowhere near the success in Oakland that he did in Pittsburgh. And he shuns the Bills, who are further along in their rebuild and definitely seem to have a more coherent plan, to go to a team that doled out a ten year contract for a coach who had been out of football for years who then comes in and proceeds to get rid of the teams best player. They also have no friggin' idea where they'll be playing home games in 2020. Can't wait to see it all implode.
  6. I'd like to see them come away with AJ Brown at 40 but we'll see. Either way, they should have a chance at a solid receiver if that's the route the wanna go.
  7. They gotta be thrilled in that war room right now. Didn't have to do a thing but sit and wait to get the player they wanted all along. I think he's a great fit in this defense and I'm psyched to watch these kids fly around with their hair on fire.
  8. It's not up for debate, the line done been drawn!
  9. The sad part is that he actually gets paid to act like a whiney moron.
  10. It's debatable. We are gathered in a corner of the internet specifically for debate...about football...and the Bills...and their current draft situation...which will change numerous times over this weekend. The Houston Oilers?
  11. Right? Sheesh. "Muh draft picks! Not muh precious draft picks!" Either way people wanna slice it, I guarantee Beane does NOT leave this draft with 10 prospects. He will move around the board and try to turn those 10 picks into 5 or 6 picks happening in the first five rounds.
  12. Definitely seems like this idea is picking up more steam the closer we get to the start of this thing. If they think Q. Williams is the difference maker they need on their DL then I'm fine with it. I have a lot of faith in this front office. I wouldn't want to see them sell the farm to slide up six spots and I'm certain Beane has a limit on what he's willing to give up. He's not going to move so much capital that it'll throw their entire draft off course. He has a calculated plan and if things line up the way he wants, he'll pull the trigger. And if Quinnen Williams goes on to become an All-Pro, no one will care what they gave up to get him.
  13. I'm probably wrong but the more I think about it the more I feel like they're going to find a way to walk outta this draft with Ed Oliver. My other scenario is that if they lose out on Oliver their focus will be on moving around the board to turn their 10 overall picks into five or six picks within the first five rounds.
  14. This is perhaps one of the stupidest insights I've seen this draft season. Hughes is their most productive pass rusher. McD also greatly appreciates Hughes' work ethic and approach to the game and likes having players like that around so the young bucks can see how it's done. Finally, $6.8 mil for a solid pass rusher is not exactly breaking the bank, plus they have the money anyway. Cripes. Who wrote this? I genuinely hope they smack their toes and shins on every piece of furniture they own.
  15. I can't disagree. It certainly seemed like Whaley wanted to make a big impression. And I understand his reasoning was trying to do as much as he could to help Manuel but it was a lot to give up. Even if he had worked out here I wonder if people would still be salty about what he traded away.
  16. I've seen Torell Troup mentioned several times and I feel like not many people know the situation he ended up in. Coming in during his rookie year he had a back injury that he was told would require surgery. Bills team doctors at that time disagreed and convinced him he could get by with therapy and such. They urged him to play. Not wanting to disappoint as a rookie, he decided to play. He only made the injury worse. Had the surgery after his rookie year but then was rushed (again by Bills team doctors at that time) through his rehab and was never really the same. I'm not saying the kid would've been All-Pro or anything but he really didn't get much of a fair shake. And as for Watkins being viewed as one of the worst picks... I disagree. Yeah, the method in which they drafted him may have not been the best but at that time, this fanbase was constantly up in arms about Buddy Nix's draft tendencies. Nix never moved around the board. Always stayed in his spot and let the board come to him. Fans hated that he never swung any trades. They felt he wasn't making enough of an effort to improve the team by standing pat on his picks. Enter Doug Whaley who runs his first draft in a polar opposite fashion than Nix, making deals, moving around the board, which fans had been clamoring for... but of course he didn't do it in the way they would've preferred. So it's like, "They never move around the board and never take any risks, that's why they'll always be horrible!" *moves around the board, takes risks* "No, not like that!" Watkins was always a no-win situation with most fans. Seemed as if people felt like if he didn't turn in 115 receptions for 1700 yards and 12 TDs every season then he was a colossal bust. Injuries have jacked up his NFL career and he'll probably never be the guy they thought he could be but I don't think he deserves to be lumped in with "the worst Bills picks of the 2010s." That's just me, tho.
  17. This staff loves versatility so a guy like him could be a good fit for what Daboll wants to do. I'd like to see him here but like I said, I dunno if he'll be there when they pick in the second round.
  18. He's one of my favorite receivers coming up this year but I don't know if he'll be on the board by pick 40.
  19. Why trade a left tackle with two years experience for an inexperienced rookie? Doesn't make sense. They like Dawkins. They're gonna challenge him this summer based on his performance last season where he said he became a little too content but he'll be the Week One starter at left tackle.
  20. They're not moving Tremaine to OLB. They didn't hand him the keys of the defense and spend all of last season coaching him up to play MLB just to switch him to OLB the following year.
  21. I doubt Fant is on this team's radar. Word on him right now is that he doesn't love ball all that much and there are questions about his dedication, work ethic, and how hard he's willing to push himself. Hockenson on the other hand, there hasn't been much about him but the general consensus I've seen is that teams like him and think he's a good but not great player.
  22. Sometimes where there's smoke there's fire. Last year we kept hearing the Bills were in on Allen as the draft got closer and sure enough, that's who they took. A lot of times teams will dish out the wrong info to find out where leaks come from. Gil Brandt posted an interesting tweet and said when he was with the Cowboys, they allowed a scout they didn't trust to see their board, which had a player they weren't taking ranked as their top choice. The next morning there was a story in the newspaper about who the Cowboys were taking so they found the leak and eliminated it. Not saying that's what the Bills are doing but this time of year, all teams are dishing out false info to throw other teams off and all that.
  23. Haven't they said several times that Shady is firmly in their plans for 2019? I know things can be fluid in this business but I think it'd take quite the offer for them to move him.
