  1. Been a frustrating year. Honestly, every game they've lost they should've won. Nobody has really flat out dominated them and they've been in every one but they've found ways to let six of them slip away. Lame-o.

I'm more burned out from chasing a soon to be three year old and his lil brudder who is a year and a half.

  2. Each year I prepare myself for the officiating to be a disaster, just how it is. However, usually by mid-season things seem to level out. There are still bad calls and whatnot but it's like they get their crap together at a certain point and become mostly competent.

That hasn't happened this season. It's been ungodly awful this year and only seems to be getting worse.

  3. I didn't care for the decision. There was enough time there to try, at least try. That doesn't really go a long way towards showing confidence in your offense, either. Should've let them try.

Last Thanksgiving against the Lions. Tied at 25, ball on their own 25, 23 seconds to go and yeah, 3 TO's...but Josh fired a laser to Diggs on the first play, nearly 40 yards and bam, already in FG range.

    Needed to let them try.

I liked "did you make the tackle"?

I laughed at that too. I've kinda always rolled my eyes when a defender goes wild celebrating a pretty routine tackle. It's like, okay, great, you got him...I mean, he picked up ten yards before you got him but you sure showed him.

Holy CRAP that is what Rob Boras sounds like?  THAT DUDE should be the one mic’d up every single week.

Also, watching this, Knox needs to come back so that Kincaid can be moved farther away from the trash inside near the LOS.  He’s too valuable to be doing so much dirty work, he’ll get rolled up on eventually.  Gotta protect that asset.

Coach Boras seems like a super well liked and respected coach. He was one of the first assistants Sean hired in 2017 and has been here since day one.

I always wondered if he was going to get a look for OC since he has done that before but I think they like him right where he's at.

I’ll get more into the weeds later because I’m at work but the officiating is a HUGE problem and has been. Here are a couple quick fixes the NFL needs to do:

    1. make the NFL refs a full time gig and let them get paid a lot of money

    2. make refs accountable for their mistakes with suspensions and eventual firings

NFL has deep pockets and should’ve done something to pay the good refs rightfully years ago. By doing 1 and 2 on my list there will be so many more potentially great applicants to become refs in the future and we won’t have the “boys club” we have now that doesn’t feel the pressure to make a good call or else.  This may not fix everything but I guarantee it’ll help out a lot

They also need to allow technological advancements into the rules. Stuff like a microchip in the ball to help with spots, etc. I mean, there are already enough cameras and circuits in the dang pylons that they need their own little cooling fans. But, every time the league brings up integrating tech into officiating, the referee's union throws a tantrum, threatens a strike like, "You 'member them replacement refs? They were awful and we'll send 'em out again if you dare try to look at us as anything other than infallible! We are geniuses who see all and are never wrong!!"

I really don't like officials. Anyone who wants to be one at that level... I dunno, I think you probably got farts in your brain or something.

  6. I commented elsewhere in this thread that up until the last two weeks, Singletary had averaged a total of 27 rushing yards per game as a Texan. Awesome for him that he is helping Houston win and being productive. Same goes for Zack Moss, he's had opportunities in Indy and has taken advantage.

But... for the record... James Cook leads the both of them in total rushing yards. He has 688, Moss has 617, Singletary has 471. He also has more receptions and more receiving yards.

  7. Every year I try to just prepare myself for the fact that officiating is going to be an abysmal dumpster fire, yet every year they find new ways to impress me with their idiocy.

This really isn't anything major but for a while I've wondered why "half the distance to the goal" is a thing. Why not just kick the first down marker ten or fifteen yards down the field? Team stays at their own six yard line or whatever, but now it's 1st and 20 or 25, etc.

  8. During the off-season I would've said I'd be surprised if Beane didn't work out an extension with Davis. Now... I'm pretty sure they're gonna move on from him. I think there were rumors that they were aiming to extend him before the season but I've no idea if that's true.

Obviously he's capable of some great games but consistency seems to be his big obstacle. One game he goes off for 8 grabs, 125 yards and a TD. Then he follows up with one catch on five targets, a drop, a deflection off his hands for a pick, a fumble, etc.

I've liked Gabe since they've drafted him and like I said, he's obviously had his moments. I think they move on, though.

"they are far too dependent on execution level being a 10 for the play to be successful"

Bingo. That's what I've been seeing as well.

Definitely feels like that. I mean, Daboll would scheme guys open, lot of pre-snap motion to confuse the defense or do things that gave Josh a chance to see what they were doing. With Dorsey it's really felt like, "Okay, just go beat your man and out-execute them every play!" He's had some decent play designs but it just doesn't feel like he's done enough to create mismatches or create situations that put a strain on the defense.

  10. I've said since his rookie year, the dude is gonna knock your socks off with some plays and make you scratch your head a bit on some others. It's who he is. If anything, I feel like maybe the dude overthinks a bit. All this "low positive" stuff and always trying to maintain a balanced mood over the games. I dunno, I get it, but I kinda miss that dude who was always chirping on the sidelines and getting his guys amped up. Not that he doesn't do that, just seems to be less of it.

Whoever in this thread said they need to cut loose and have fun had it right.

He's another example of Beane not hitting on his first or second round picks.

That same year Miami took Jaelen Phillips. His impact is much greater.

I dont know the issue overall but there are too many DEs on this roster making a lot of money to not impact the QB more. Last night was a perfect example. The fact we are having to blitz as often as we are says alot about where this group is at.

Phillips hasn't had much more of an impact over Groot. Both have missed time with injuries but as it stands right meow Groot has more sacks this season while having 15 for his career and Phillips with 19. Miami fans been waiting for that guy to turn the corner as well but it hasn't happened yet.

  12. I've been fartin' around on Bills forums since like 2002. Always just liked discussing the team and the sport in general.

These days I tend to keep in mind that this stuff is supposed to be fun. No doubt I still get all the feels during games and stuff, and I'm not ignorant to issues the team may have. I just prefer not to really dwell on that stuff too much. When they lose it's a bummer, I don't need to keep it bummin' the whole week talking about why and what they gotta do and this and that.

I'm really just indifferent to a lot of the negativity and real ridiculous criticisms and the kneejerk reactions, etc. So when like more than half the board blows up after a loss and it's just all blaaarrgh I tend to avoid it for a bit.

There are a number of posters that seem like-minded to how I perceive things so I tend to gravitate towards reading and engaging with them. Some folks are pretty funny. I try to throw in some stupid dumb humor curve balls where I can. It's hit and miss haha.

Like I said above, it's supposed to be fun. If fun for some folks is nitpicking the crap out of everything then I guess that's their thing ..weird, but you do you and all that. I used to get real uptight about this stuff too but the older I've gotten the more ways I've found to enjoy it and not get wrapped up in the bummer stuff or letting a loss affect my whole day or week. I guess there are different levels of passion for your home team. I try to keep it fun and level.

I said all offseason that AJE was better than people thought and would start on plenty of other teams.  Now he is proving it on the field.  I am hoping we find a way to keep him at a deal that isn't crazy.  Each impact game though that price tag is going up.

The scouting reports I saw on him all had similar things to say about how he would need some time to develop. The consensus seemed to be, "give him a couple years and he'll be a solid player."
