Holy crap, hahaha. Thanks for the heads up. I was so friggin confused. I guess I'm still a little out of sorts. Still flyin' high from that sweet sweet pick-6. Taron Johnson should definitely win some kind of major award for that.

What da heck is going on? How are both games airing at the same time? I thought KC/CLE was the late game today? I just flipped this game on after watching the refs help Timmy and the Bucs get a TD on their opening drive.

The way he spoke last night sure made him sound like he rrrrrreally wanted the Ravens to win. Lamar Jackson could've sneeze-farted himself off the bench and Collinsworth would've been like, "Oh my, he is just so incredibly, unbelievably, extraordinarily amazing, Al. I mean, when we call his games, I know to pack at least 7 or 8 extra pairs of slacks because I know I'm gonna ruin quite a few! Heck, I had to change twice before the game even started!" He's a goon.

Apologies if there have been other similar threads. As it stands right now, the Jets, Falcons, and Jaguars have all named new head coaches while the Chargers, Lions, and Texans are still searching. Although, last I saw it appears that Dan Campbell is the front-runner for the Lions gig. Brian Daboll interviewed with the Chargers and Jets and to our knowledge hasn't had a second interview with either team. The possibility still remains that he could leave Buffalo for a head coaching job elsewhere. Much discussion has taken place about who could possibly replace Daboll if he leaves. QB coach Ken Dorsey is a popular answer but he's never called plays at the NFL level. Some think they should promote from within but I don't think anyone would get too fussy if they hired outside the franchise. One name I haven't seen mentioned as a possible replacement for Daboll is tight ends coach Rob Boras. Now, this is not me advocating for Boras to become the OC. I just wanted to see how people react to the notion. Boras has coached tight ends nearly his entire career, having been hired by the Bears in 2004 after 11 years of coaching in college, including a one-year head coaching stint at Benedictine in '98 as well as two seasons as offensive coordinator at UNLV. Boras was with Chicago though 2009 and then joined Jacksonville to coach their TE's for two seasons before being hired by Jeff Fisher in St. Louis. He coached TE's until 2015 when he was named the assistant head coach as well as the interim offensive coordinator. He was promoted to full time OC and assistant HC in 2016. He was let go following the season and quickly found work with the Bills in 2017. As the OC for the Rams his offenses finished near the bottom of the league but he was also confined to Jeff Fisher's genius offensive philosophy of "please run it 499 times" as well as a lack of solid offensive weapons. He's been with Buffalo for four seasons now and since he's arrived, the Bills have made much more use out of their TE's than they have in years past. Dawson Knox shows plenty of promise and I believe he will put it all together. I also think they have something in Tom Sweeney, I'm interested to see him get a chance next year. McDermott seems to trust him and seems satisfied with the job Boras has done. Would that be enough for McDermott to consider him if he has to replace Daboll? I wouldn't be surprised if his name comes up but I would be surprised if they give the job to Boras. Personally, I think Dorsey makes a lot of sense. He's been here through Josh's growth and development, he knows the system, he knows what Josh prefers, he knows what he likes in certain situations. As I said above, I think the inexperience with play calling would give me some hesitation in giving Dorsey the OC job. And on one more personal note, I'd be happy for Daboll if he lands a HC job but I really want him to stay here and keep building this thing. Who would you guys like to see as OC if Daboll is hired as a HC somewhere else?

It makes ya wonder why they hang onto Yeldon if they don't even consider him to step up when one of their starters goes down. I don't mind Yeldon, I think he can do some good things out of then backfield as a pass catcher. I know they like Singletary for that role, tho. Maybe they bring up both TJ and Antonio?

I really wanted to scream at Andre Roberts for taking one or two of those out of the end zone. Especially on that one where he made it to about the 12 and there was a penalty that backed them up to the 6. This was after two or three bad drive starts so you'd think he'd have it in his head to kneel on it if it went into the end zone so they could start at the 25. Mostly any other time I'm fine with him taking a return out of the end zone. But he needed better situational awareness last Saturday.

I was pretty pleased, actually. He'd been a hot name for a little while given his work in Carolina. And then through interviews in 2016 (when he almost was hired by Cleveland, I think) he earned a reputation as an incredibly good interview and someone who was prepared on every level and had been studying to be a head coach his entire career. IIRC, after their first interview, Terry was like, "That's our guy, I don't even know if I wanna meet with anyone else." Of course they did because that's how it works but from all accounts they were absolutely blown away during his interview. He was such a breath of fresh air from Rex and Marrone. Frickin' Marrone was a moody weenie who couldn't handle the media where as Rex was in full on "mail it in" mode while loving the media. McD came in and was all business from day one. He picked three cornerstone players in his first draft while making it work with a front office he had no ties to. And then after that 2017 draft, they brought Beane onboard and let him clear out bad contracts and players that weren't gonna be a fit for what McD wanted to do. They had a plan, drew up the blueprint, stayed the course and righted the ship. They gave a textbook example to the rest of the league on how you do a complete and total rebuild with a massive culture shift on top of it. He can coach here until he's 90 for all I care. Beane too. Love these guys.

We've known that Daboll was a great play designer...and this year, we've seen him really excel as a play caller. That's the part that'll worry me if Daboll leaves for a HC gig. Whoever they chose to replace him, surely they'll be just as well versed in play designs and they'll sit with Josh and learn what he likes and doesn't like, etc. But it'll be the play calling that'll be key. Knowing the situations and having the right calls dialed up is something Daboll has excelled at this season. If they go internal I gotta imagine Ken Dorsey is someone who would be strongly considered but I don't think he has any major play calling experience. I'd still feel pretty confident if they went with him. Former QB, has worked with Josh for a while now, knows the players, knows the system, etc.

Just use him sparingly and he's awesome, they figured out the formula.

Their 6-game win streak has seen victories by margins of 10, 10, 11, 26, 29, and 30 points. They've won 7 out of their last 8, beating Seattle also by 10 before the fluke against Arizona. Passing game wasn't great vs. the Chargers but aside from that game they've been ridiculously good in all three phases. They picked a great time to flip the switch and get right.

I can't believe the Saturday primetime game is Tampa Bay vs. either WFT or NYG. I know it's Brady and that's the reason but still. Either a 6-10 or 7-9 team is about to HOST a primetime playoff game. I think their current system is broken.

Looks like he was alright. Might have went back in if they needed him. If he can't go next week, no big deal. Although, it's a slight bummer since he'd miss out on 1K receiving yards by not too much. Bills haven't had two receivers go over 1K since Moulds and Price back in 2002...I think.

I definitely feel like a team with a better record should get in over a team with a worse record but a division title. The league still wants the divisions to mean something. But in the interest of fairness, it's kinda crap that a 6-10 team might host a playoff game. If I were to change it up, I would say, fine, if you win your division you're in the playoffs but if a wild card team holds a better record than you than they get the home game.

Since the Arizona game there's been a shift. In the games since then, the only time the other team is ever in the game is when the Bills make a mistake and turn it over. They beat the Seahawks, Chargers, and Niners by 10. They beat Pittsburgh by 11. They beat Denver and New England by 29. Ever since they chewed up that final 7:10 against Pittsburgh it's felt like they've been more dominant. Early in the season it was like, yeah they can score but as soon as they're ahead they give up the tying TD or a TD that makes it a one score game. That hasn't really been the case lately.

I guess Flores is lucky he has Fitz to fall back on. I really thought it was like a rule with head coaches and young QBs that once you give them the keys, you don't take them back at the first sign of trouble. Honestly, Flores deserves all sorts of criticism for his decisions regarding his starting quarterback. I mean, Fitz was playing fine and there's nothing wrong with having your rookie sit behind your vet for a season to see how it's done. Plus, he makes the switch while they're playing well and winning games. To me, that tells me he lacks some forethought into what kind of message he's sending his team with these kinds of decisions. So far this season, he's basically said, "Fitz is our guy, Tua is our future! Hey, look at that, we're winning and in the playoff race and Fitz has done marvelous. Sit down, Fitz! Tua is now our guy! Wait. What's that, he's not doing so hot? Well, we still won sooo...Tua is our guy!! Uh oh...adversity...Tua isn't doing so good...uh...umm...okay, Fitz is our guy!! Oh, phew, he bailed us out, so that means... Tua is our guy!!" I mean, if Tua is your future then you have to roll with it, good or bad. Every time the kid makes a mistake he's gonna be wondering if he's getting benched instead of focusing on the next play. Personally, I don't have a great feeling on Tua. Of course, we never really know how it's all gonna turn out but at this stage, when I watch him play I'm just not seeing it.

I'm sure he'll stay at receiver. He brings some size to the position and I believe he's faster than Duke. Rodgers loved him in Green Bay, said on record several times he wanted to see Kumerow get more snaps. So what did Green Bay do? They cut him and drafted a Rodgers replacement!

I'd be breathing a sigh of relief if I was Trevor Lawrence. The Jets just destroyed Sam Darnold with a level of epic incompetence the likes of which we haven't seen since...the last time the Jets drafted a QB high. As long as Woody Johnson owns that team, they're screwed. Lawrence will at least have a chance in Jacksonville. They'll probably tear it down and rebuild around him whereas the Jets would go, "We got our guy, now let's do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to build around him and then when he loses too much, we fire him!"

I felt the same way, haha. I was like, "Gah, just go down, Jerry!" and then he made that cut and it was, "Hey wait, he might make it!" Awesome to get defensive scores in back to back games. And awesome for Hughes. I feel like he's been a hair away from one of these kinda plays for a while now.

Not for the division. A Super Bowl? Like a little baby.

I would add 2011 Fred Jackson, before the injury of course. As for a non-playoff team right meow, I'd say everyone's already named who I would pick, guys like Bosa (either one), Mack, CMC, Kittle, all studs.

Knox definitely has the ability to become a very productive player in this league. Unfortunately, injuries have hit him hard this year, and the dropsies still seem to get to him at times. I still have confidence that the kid can get it right and become a real threat for this team.

While they have an identity as a downfield passing offense, Daboll's system requires them to be able to do a little bit of everything. That's what they do up in New England where he learned it. He wants to be able to shift gears based on the defense they're facing that week. If Daboll exits for a head coaching gig then I could see Dorsey taking over as OC. The biggest concern for me would be the play calling. Dorsey has input on play designs and surely he'd keep things he likes/knows they execute well, as well as introduce his own stuff and add tweaks to other things, thus creating a playbook that'd be his own. But that's different than calling those plays during the game. I really feel like Daboll has been killing it with the play calls lately. He just seems to dial up the right plays at the right time over and over again. We talk about Josh maturing but Daboll and the offense as a whole has matured right along with him. The consistency they've had over these last three years has been a major contribution to their success. So...you wonder if they would go with Dorsey to replace Daboll considering it'd be Dorsey's first time as a play caller. But, you gotta figure he's picked up a lot from Daboll by now and it's not like we're in the man's head or know his thought process but you assume he's working towards moving up the ladder so he's likely making note of things he sees so he can be prepared for a promotion. But yeah, the play calls would be my concern. Daboll has been really good. I wanna say that Daboll might be one more year away from a HC gig but then you see how Josh has played and you gotta think there are teams out there saying, "Look at what he did with the Wyoming kid who only hit 54% of his passes coming out of college" and they're thinking he can do the same with a kid they have on the roster already or one they plan to draft. If I'm Sean McDermott though, and the Jets call, I'll say, "Sorry, Brian is unavailable." Because eff the Jets and their stupid faces.
