Yeah I think Jimmy got the rock like six, seven times? Ray carried it maybe three or four times. Josh did the rest on scrambles.

So about the refs tonight UPDATE: Rams game discussion on page 14
blacklabel replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Typically I go into every game with zero expectations for the referees. Rams game was the first time all season I was like, "WTF are these nitwits doing??" It was pretty bad. That false start they missed on the Rams RT still annoys me lol. -
Mack continues to do what he's done all season, catch nothing but first downs or touchdowns. He's currently at 23 receptions for 288 yards, 5 TDs and 19 first downs.

Josh Allen film review (Kurt Benkert former NFL QB)
blacklabel replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd suggest JT O'Sullivan's QB School for that stuff. I like his breakdowns a lot. -
Just in case anyone missed it, Mack caught another TD this week. That's 4 on the season on 19 total receptions, 16 of which are first downs. You're thinking what I thought, "wait, 16 and 4 is 20, dummy!" And that's correct. My best guess is that they'll count a first down on a TD play if it would've also gained a first down.

I'm psyched for him, glad he's settling in and enjoying football again. I'm sure it wasn't much fun down in Cleveland. Others have discussed it in this thread but if you've watched the McDermott Era from day one it's not difficult to notice the culture he's brought to the team. 2018 was really the first year it stood out. Young team, not expected to really compete, yeah had some rough blowouts but it was the "growing pains" season and many times during games you would see how excited teammates would get for each other. There would be guys that got very few snaps and if they made a play in the game the entire sideline would just go bonkers for them. It was cool to see. It was very clear that they were playing for each other and despite not winning, they weren't rolling over in games that were out of hand, they just kept trying to make plays and when one was made it was something that would help strengthen their bonds. This continued through 2019 and 2020 as well. There were now foundational core players and established veteran leaders in place to keep them grounded as they soared to new heights. 2021 saw them go from the underdogs to the favorites and that's when it felt like things began to get a little tense. Obviously, the expectations were high, lot of eyes on them, lot of anticipation to go out there and win it all. And they kinda had to slug through the back half of that season to make the playoffs but once they got there, man oh man, a lot of us seem to agree that that 2021 squad was the group that could've won it all. Stoopid 13 seconds. In 2022 they were determined to run it back and it seemed to weigh on them. They fought as much as they could but just came out super flat against the Bengals in that divisional game and obviously there we saw more of the rift forming with not just Diggs and Josh but Diggs and coaches as well. I think Beane and his crew probably felt like they could take one more crack at it in 2023 with the squad they had established over the years. Once more go 'round to try and win it for the vets like Hyde, Poyer, White, Morse, etc. He threw the extension to Diggs, probably in hopes that it'd pacify him and prevent him from bringing drama around the team. Diggs fell off during the back half of the season and then in his ultimate "your team needs you" moment he whiffed. And at that time, the culture just wasn't the same as it had been. Yeah, teammates were excited for one another but you could sense there was tension and not everyone was on the same page. Heading into 2024, Beane knew they had to retool things and I mean...I'm not sure you can really do any better than the job he's done in rebuilding parts of this team and finding suitable replacements for a number of staple players that had been here for a while. Since the official start of the 2024 season, you can see how the culture has returned and evolved to carry the current group of players. Many of the players talked about the vibe feeling different/more positive and a lot of guys just seemed less tense and more ready to cut loose and have fun balling out. And here we are again seeing these dudes go bananas when one of their boys makes a play. Could be a five yard gain for a first down in the 2nd quarter, don't matter, they go off for it. It's one of my favorite parts about being a fan during the McDermott Era. Yeesh. I didn't intend to write a dissertation, I guess I just made use of the time where somehow everyone in this house but me has randomly fallen asleep on this Saturday afternoon.

TNF 🏈 Steelers vs Browns - 8:15pm ET on Prime Video

Ha! Eat my shorts, Squealers. Russ got launched on that last play, dang. Thought it was kinda neat that Cleveland's guys who kick da ball were both with the Bills previously. -
Yeah, that spinarooni dipsy-doodle reverse BS they ran on their first play is straight out of their preseason playbook lol.

I maintain that the injuries he's been dealing with since camp have been slowing him down. Earlier in the season, even when he was good to go, you could see he just wasn't schemed into the game plan too much. And if he was, they'd try to get him the ball earlier and if those couple attempts got shut down they really didn't dial up anything for him the rest of the game. But these last few weeks you can see he's been much more involved into their plans. Obviously some of that is based on injuries to Keon and Kincaid but in these last few weeks when I've watch Samuel out there he definitely looks quicker and more confident. So yeah, I hope whatever injuries he was dealing with are under control right now and he continues to be more involved in the offense. Cooper, Coleman, Shakir, Samuel, Hollins, Kincaid, Knox, Cook, Davis, and Johnson, that's a pretty good and diverse group of skill players.

I said it in a different thread but big praise for Torrence. He went 1v1 with Jones a lot more than you'd expect and he held his own. And on the 4th & 2 TD run in particular he gets the leverage on Jones and forces him right out of the play. Jones may have not had his best day out there but Torrence certainly did.

Woody Johnson suggested benching Rodgers in September

It's kind of astounding how some people that just don't seem very bright end up operating billion dollar corporations. The Jets have had their head up their dupas for a long time now. And every time I see a new blunder, I can't help but chuckle and think, hey couldn't happen to a better team! They just can't get their crap together from the top down yet the "insider experts" wanna pick these nerds to sneak up and win the division every other year. I know it's all just production and something to discuss it just gets old and dumb. Anyways, here's to the Jets being a basement dwelling crap salad for decades to come. -
"FitzWorth" was right there.

Who’s the best Left Tackle you have ever watched?
blacklabel replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jonathan Ogden. I remember seeing some former players who went up against him talk about what that was like. I think it was Michael Strahan who said he'd get frustrated as heck because the harder he'd try, the more Ogden would be giggling about it. He would just completely shut guys down and laugh about it the whole time. That's gotta be demoralizing. Walter Jones is the other guy who came to mind. One of the first players I've ever heard of who told his team, "Yeah, so I'm done with training camp. I'll be there for regular season" and the team pretty much goes, "Yup, sure, no problem big guy!" -

Seahawks release Tyrel Dodson - UPDATE claimed by Dolphins
blacklabel replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
This happened with the Bills in 2017 or 2018, I think? They claimed WR/KR Dri Archer from the Steelers and the dude just never showed up. I think he just straight up quit football lol. -
Brian Baldinger (#BaldysBreakdowns) of Bills offense play structure
blacklabel replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was something that kinda irritated/confused me about Dorsey's offense. He's all about that "our guy vs. your guy, go win the route and get open" and sure, that's great, you need that in your offense. But I don't think you can rely on it 100% of the time and sometimes that's what it felt like with Dorsey. He had more of a down the field passing attack but like, could never mix it up with a mesh route here and there? Just scheme a guy open to give Josh an easy completion every now and then. Felt like that wasn't happening much with Dorsey. Brady, tho, he has no problem designing things and dialing up stuff made to get a guy in space. -
You're a real Mackimaniac, that's why. All jokes aside, I'm a fan. He seems to have settled into his role really well, he's very well respected, he's smart, works hard, you know, all that kinda business that McDermott loves. And yeah, I made the post today after I took a look at his stats. Sure they're not dialing up ten targets a game for him but when his number is called, he answers. If he's not catching a touchdown, he's at least getting a first down! Go Mack! But also, don't always shun the shoes! They're there to keep ya feet safe. You need those things. Both of 'em, for running and stuff.
-
Mackimaniacs unite!
-
Yeah, I know virtually nobody was excited to sign this guy. I just thought this stat of his was neat: he has 16 receptions on the year. Three of those went for touchdowns. The other 13? All first downs. That's neat.

You can also keep track of every "Eeesh, aw, Jim I dunno!" he does and every time he tries to create drama in the most mundane, routine plays. James Cook off left tackle for four yards. There is no fumble, nor is their a possibility of a fumble because he's been tackled. Nantz: "And there's Cook falling ahead for about four." Romo: "Oh boy, I dunno Jim, does this ball get knocked loose?!" And this is what I imagine Nantz's inner monologue might be like sometimes: "What?! No, you frickin' jaggaloon! He carried it for four yards and got tackled, nothing else is going on, stop making stuff up!"

NFL officiating is broken. How do we fix it?
blacklabel replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
They don't want it fixed. They probably think it adds drama to the game. I go into every game expecting the officiating to be abysmal. When you set the bar underground...they still somehow go lower. -
Pish posh. Quiet down.

For cripes sake. This is what's on your mind on a Friday night? You must be a blast at parties. "Hey, I know Bass set a franchise record and won the game last week but I just wanna remind everyone he missed one and doinked another!" We knowwwwwwww. What do you propose they do about it? He's on the roster for a reason....because there isn't anyone else available that's gonna be any better.
