Interesting tidbits and random thoughts you may find interesting
blacklabel replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
A win is a win. The injuries keep piling up for this team, it's ridiculous. I've never seen such a rash of injuries. Game after game. Sucks. That said, when they're in there playing with backups that can cause changes in the game plan on both sides of the ball. They had all of two starters playing on the OL, one playing out of position. Pile that on with the six feet of snow, tons of players having to dig out then get robbed of a home game, then turn around and play on a short week. Always room for improvement but I'll take 8-3. Hopefully they get Tremaine and Groot back soon. -
I'm with you on the dome. Unfortunately Buffalo isn't likely to host a Super Bowl anytime soon. The city does not meet the requirements for hotels and other accomodations. But besides that, yeah, a dome would mean concerts and other shows year round if they'd want. And they can still play outside, just make it a retractable one. It's a bummer they don't go with the dome over this odd sense of tradition with weather games. In reality, they get one big snow game once every few seasons. Then there are the super windy games which don't really give an advantage to any team. And then the freezing ones which just make all the contact and the hits hurt even more. Just seems silly to me. Could keep it open in September and October and close it for November thru January.

Week 12: Bills at Lions on Thanksgiving

....fudge. -
When can this dude play? He ripped up his knee early February.

I know the numbers weren't as good but in 2020 they had to mix it up on defense like halfway thru the season. They became more aggressive, more of an attack style rather than a sit back and let it come to them style which is what they usually do. I'd like to see them be a little more aggressive at times. The front four usually can generate some pressure. They're like notorious for getting within an inch of the QB and he gets rid of it at the last possible second. So frustrating. But with being more aggressive that can leave them open for big plays and they're all about shutting down the big plays. Or trying to anyway. Edmunds not being out there is huge. He's a major part of this defense and if I'm Beane I'm finding a way to retain him.

Week 12: Bills at Lions on Thanksgiving

What time does the dang game start? I got google telling me 12:30p but I've also seen quite a few fans online saying it's the primetime 8p game. -
He's likely donezo. Might get a chance to hang on a practice squad somewhere but that's probably it. Dude had like four fumbles in his first 850+ carries in the league, in his next 800 he's had like 25 or something? And this season alone he's coughed it up in the red zone three times, I think six times total all season with two being scooped up and returned for TDs. Apparently at some point this season he was in the huddle and told a teammate, "I'm gonna fumble, I just know it" and sure enough a few plays later he fumbled. So he's got them mental yips too or whatever.

He's definitely played better than many expected, I'm sure. I was mad for him on that bogus PI call yesterday. It was just good coverage with a great play to knock down the pass. Some dipschnitt ref a mile away calls foul, unknowingly confused by the monstrous bucket of beef farts from the bratwurst demolishing mongoloids in section 139 that has wafted up his snout and clouded his judgement. "Blargh, I'm confused! I can't see! What is happening?! I have no idea but I'm gonna throw my special yellow hanky. I call her Gladys. Fly, my sweet Gladys, fly!! Oh boy oh boy nothing gets Daddy Official's nipples harder than screwing a player out of a great play." I hate the refs. What were we discussing again?

I hate the Bills Schedule - Is this done on purpose?
blacklabel replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
The weather stuff has always been overrated for me. I'm on #TeamDome but I digress. The elements, bah. It's funny that the Bills have their road game against Miami early on these last few years. Early 2010s the Phins cried about their schedule because they were routinely playing their road game against the Bills in late December. So then for a while the Phins were playing the Bills before December. Whatever. Stupid Phins. May Tua slip on a rogue floormat. -
Google says a flight from Buffalo to Detroit is 70 minutes.

Roster is built pretty well IMO. There are always going to be areas that teams have to go light on. Just the name of the game sometimes. Gabe Davis hasn't quite become the guy a lot of us thought he'd be. It's also been evident that they wanted Kumerow more involved on offense but he's been hurt. They signed Crowder, he's been hurt. Shakir has had some moments but they bring the rookies along slowly. They're finally getting Knox going in the pass game more. I just assumed with only Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, and Shakir out there that they'd line up guys like Knox, Cook, and Hines to make up for it. All that said, if the WR class is another solid group maybe they ought dip into that pool within the first two or three rounds. Allen is the only first round offensive player the McBeane Era has ever drafted. Seems like they don't like using their first rounders on anything but a QB, or all three levels of defense. Just how they prioritize I guess.

JESTS Radio and message boards having a melt down
blacklabel replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I read that after the game Wilson was "walking around like he isn't the problem" and more and more teammates are getting irritated with him. I kinda hate how the Bills made him look mediocre so I hope they slap the crap outta them in a few weeks here. Saw some Jets fans lamenting the days of Mark Sanchez. If you look at what they've drafted for first round QBs he's been the best of a bad bunch, but if you rank them it'd be Sanchez, Darnold, earlier this season Joe Flacco who threw two of the worst INTs you'll ever see, Zach 'Weenieface' Wilson. Suffer you stupid Jets, suffer! -

NFL Week 11 Browns at Bills (Detroit) - 1st half game thread
blacklabel replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
When they got the ball, I specifically requested "no poopy plays!" Apparently Gabe Davis doesn't listen. Sheesh. I'll try it again. I specifically request the Bills to make zero poopy plays! That oughta do it. -
The second half of the Minnesota game showed how important he is in this defense. Only after he went out was Minnesota able to move the ball.

What are your thoughts on John Murphy as our radio announcer?
blacklabel replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Never been the biggest fan of Murph. He does alright but he doesn't create the excitement and drama like other broadcasters do. And almost anytime he tries to sound excited his voice goes real high then cracks a bunch. I like Eric Wood. I think he's doing a pretty good job. I listen to him post game mostly tho. But usually, I typically watch the games on mute. After years of hearing the talking heads I just can't do it anymore. I can't stand how they have to exaggerate on so many things and act like routine plays or even just decent plays are some sort of amazing act of foosball mastery. And they have their talking points and things they need to highlight and sometimes they just drone on and on about the same crap. Or they come up with some real obscure stat like, "On all days ending in Y and when Josh Allen wears his favorite Spider-Man jammies and eats four bowls of Count Chocula and then spins a football on his left pinky toe he averages exactly 1.0033 yards per pass!" It's just...meh, I think I'm just burned out from it. -

I've been such a fan of the guy since he came into the league. Wanted the Bills to draft him, which they said they were going to but in the 4th and then Seattle snagged him in the 3rd. But the more I've learned about the dude this season the more he comes off as really disingenuous. He works incredibly hard to uphold and present a very specific image to everyone in everything he does. The things we've heard out of both Denver and Seattle, in regards to his teammates, is that the dude is just a bit much at times. Some Broncos fan posted a video where he highlighted how it appears some of his teammates aren't really on the same page with him. Russ was trying to get the team pumped for the second half but most guys just kinda jogged right past him and gave a little fist bump on their way into the locker room. It's wild that he's screwing up play calls and audibles when you hear about the wristband stuff lol. Just wear the frickin' thing so you can reference it when needed. It seems like a vanity thing for him. "I have the entire playbook memorized, I don't need the wristband!" Well, you're out there mixing up calls from your old team, maybe ya do need it.

Josh Allen leads NFL in interceptions
blacklabel replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's had his fair share of picks that have been 100% on him but he's also had a handful of unfortunate ones that got tipped at the line and redirected to a defender, or bounced right out of a receivers hands and to a DB. Schnitt happens. It's the INTs that he's personally giftwrapping for opponents that make you wanna flip out. I remember the talking heads would always point out how he had zero red zone INTs in his career until he got picked in the AFC Championship in 2021. Then it was "only ever had one red zone INT!" And this season he's done that like four times already. Those turnovers really kill the momentum they build as well. I think Josh might be feeling the weight of expectations more then anyone right now. He already expects a lot from himself and although he does his best not to pay too much attention to it there's no way he hasn't heard the chatter about him being the MVP favorite and the Bills being a Super Bowl favorite. Isaiah McKenzie talked a bit about the pressure they're feeling on his weekly podcast with Ty Dunne. He basically said they are really meticulous with meetings and practices but when you get out there with 63,000 people cheering for you, it's just really easy to get super amped and just wanna make a play. And in Josh's case he's probably feeling like he needs to make a play. A lot of the time it works in his favor. The times it hasn't just seem to really sting. He'll be alright. -
Thanksgiving…and this season - What are you thankful for?
blacklabel replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm a new dad (first son will be two in Jan, his baby brudder is six months. I dunno whose idea it was to have two babies during a pandemic but when I find that guy I'm gonna kick his @$$) so I'm thankful for them being healthy and happy. Mom and dad are tired. In fact, I'm pretty sure I died a few weeks ago and nobody's had the common gotdamn courtesy to let me know! So yeah I'm thankful for them, the wife, and that dreamboat Josh Allen. There goes mah hero! -
Seriously, how complicated is our offense
blacklabel replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, their tendency to slowly bring along rookies and new signings can get irritating. There are only so many plays to be run, it's more just about knowing the terminology and the checks and stuff. But even with that, I mean, dude been playing football his whole life, surely he can look at the playbook and see plays he ran in Indy just under different names here. -
Highest graded defenders for Week 10 (Look who's 1st)
blacklabel replied to Gambit's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've been saying for a while, the dude is just a steady player. Might not always have the big splash plays but he does so much that goes under the radar. Minnesota scored 10 points in the first half and then all their other drives were three and out or a turnover. Soon as Edmunds went out, Minnesota had no problem. I think he's a guy you keep. He's the main defensive captain, his size and athleticism causes issues in the middle of the field for opposing offense. He has his flaws, he's not perfect, but you could do way worse. I'd like to see him and Milano remain together. They're a different defense when either of those guys go out. -
If he gets the boot after this season I can't see any team that'd wanna give him another chance at head coach. He's shown he doesn't have the chops for it.
