Both these guys will have interest from a number of teams. I could see Buffalo having interest in Walford. Clay has the knee issues and a hefty contract, O'Leary and Thomas aren't bad but competition is huge for McDermott so adding a guy like Walford isn't the worst idea ever.

Chad Pennington! Nah, everyone has pretty much already been named. Byron Leftwich had a pretty strong arm as well. He won the longest throw contest at the Pro Bowl back in '04 or '05 I think. With Favre, right? Glanville used to call him "Mississippi" and would call him out before games and bet other coaches in opposing team stadiums that Favre could chuck the ball up into the 300s.

I don't know if it was intentional but I do recall Mills being especially brutal that day. Bosa and Ingram were flying right by him, seemed like anyone else that lined up across from him was able to do the same. Mills is especially bad against speed rushers.

I believe they should, and will, draft players that will help the team win foosball games.

His contract doesn't really fall under "big daddy" in terms of solid pass rushers. It's a 5 year deal with $22 million guaranteed, max payout of around $45 million. Being in Rex's scheme for two seasons didn't help much and last season he was really the only pass rusher opponents had to worry about. While he wasn't racking up the sack numbers, he was fifth in the league in terms of QB pressures. So even though he wasn't getting home on every rush, he's still doing his job well by being disruptive, causing rushed throws which can lead to picks or incompletions, etc. He also caused the fumble on Matt Ryan that was scooped up for a TD by Tre' White which proved to be the game-winning score last season so there's that. He's making an impact despite the low numbers. And he's easily one of the most fired up guys on the team, so I don't think he falls into the "got paid, checked out" category at all.

Haha, in what ways is he creepy and weird? Just curious to hear your opinion. Like many other media guys and analysts, I've always found him to be a little arrogant and conceited. Seems like a lot of the sports media either does that or aims to say the most ridiculous thing they can think of not because they actually believe it but they know it'll grab attention.

Even with the added emphasis on player safety these days, many teams will still push for their players to play while injured. I mean, they aren't forcing these guys, most players know that their spot is in jeopardy if they're hurt so they're usually doing everything they can to get back on the field. Sammy is a fair example of that. He definitely wanted to try and gut it out on his bum foot in 2016 but it just wasn't happening. An example of the team, let's say... influencing a players decision can be made of Torrell Troup. Coming out of UCF he had a back injury that was serious enough to require surgery. Bills training staff told him he could play thru it with proper treatment and get the surgery after the season. Being a rookie and wanting to impress, Troup chose to play. His back was never 100%, he only jacked it up more during his rookie year. The surgery helped but long term damage was already done and no matter how hard he tried to heal up, it just wasn't meant to be. Kind of a bummer for him once you learn that that's what he went thru his rookie year. With all of this said, as you pointed out, perhaps there was some heat between the training staff and some players. Maybe Glenn felt like he should've sat out the year he had that kidney illness and the training staff convinced him he'd be able to play. He did play that season but he was far from 100%. Maybe the same thing happened with the foot injuries. Maybe they rushed him back while he felt like he needed more time to heal up so perhaps his attitude just became, "Fine, f*ck it, I'll play but I ain't buying into anything because I may end up making my foot worse and maybe even shortening my career." Or, you know, not.

On a podcast called Moranalytics (hosted by that Patrick Moran guy), Tyler Dunne talked about how he heard Cordy Glenn "checked out" after signing his big contract extension and many in the organization were more than happy to see him go. I found it kind of interesting because we've never really heard that type of stuff about Glenn. He's always been said to be a quiet guy but a good teammate, somewhat of a leader on the OL. Plus, after he came off that season where he struggled with an illness, he came back for OTAs in the best shape of his life, showing his dedication to the diet and fitness plan given to him by the trainers. No. For the billionth time, Hughes (and Lawson, for that matter) are 100% part of this team for 2018. DL is a huge point of emphasis for this team. They wouldn't go and deal out a nice contract for Lotulelei, who's primary role will be occupying multiple OL to free up the ends and LBs. They intend on making the DL one of the strongest units on the team. Trading away their best pass rusher makes zero sense when that's their plan. Having Murphy to rotate in there should be a good asset and more than likely a step up from Ryan Davis. Hughes' contract isn't really a cap killer like Dareus' or Glenn's. If they wanted to clear more space they would've dealt Hughes long ago.

McBeane place a great deal of emphasis on DL... while Hughes didn't light it up with sacks last season, he was fifth overall in the league in QB pressures. Even if he's not getting to the QB every time, he's disrupting the pocket and forcing the QB to adjust/move/scramble/panic, etc. It's not always about the numbers. Stats are easy to look at and use as a reference point for why this guy is or isn't good but you gotta look beyond the stats and account for things that don't always get noticed right away. When they signed Murphy, Vic Carucci reported that the signing had no impact on Hughes and Lawson, those guys are firmly in their plans for this coming season. They want the DL to be one of the strongest units on the team. While I understand the cap/money ramifications, trading away one of the best players on the DL (and the team) doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Be unsettled all you want, your pointing out of his race has absolutely zero to do with anything in this story. At the very bottom, baseline level of this story, these are the current known facts: Male athlete injures self while destroying window on 30th floor of apartment complex, attempts to jump out of it, restrained by his brother, arrested on charges of property damage. Does it look like this happened because of a drug-induced psychosis? Yeah, it does. But that's still conjecture until more facts emerge. And yeah, objective journalism still exists. I'm not exactly sure what you meant by your belief that the news is somehow covering for him for "something much bigger" by only reporting the known facts at this time. What's to gain for any news outlet with a story like this? I understand we are living in an age of subjective and sensationalist journalism but a story like this doesn't warrant that type of stuff because what's the point? It's not like the news has any interest in writing stories in such a way that make the Bills look good or somehow "covers" for a player who made some bad decisions and is now dealing with the consequences.

I've read comments on Rosen quite a few times that teammates and coaches view him as the type of player that, no matter the circumstance, he's one of those guys that can give his team a chance to win when the game is on the line. That's one of them intangible things. It'd be fun to experience games wherein we had some real, actual faith that the QB is gonna rally and pull off some comeback victories. And at least he was throwing it up there, giving his guys a chance.

Well that'd be a welcome change, wouldn't it? A QB willing to throw into tight coverage and give his WRs at least a chance to make a play.

This here... in watching several UCLA games they looked like a poorly coached team overall. The effort from some of his WRs was dismal. Rosen seemed to be one of the only guys working hard to make plays happen. I saw a few plays where his ball placement wasn't great but the ball was catchable with an adjustment from the WR. This WR in question was running a crossing route, the ball was a little bit behind him, receiver saw it but just kept running his route right to the sideline, didn't even make an attempt at catching it. Not every pass is gonna be perfectly on the money but if you get the ball in your receivers range, you'd think they'd at least make an effort to catch it.

*ahem* Josh Allen won't suck in the NFL..... or maybe he will. Check back in 2 or 3 years.

From some tweets/speculation, I've read that Buffalo's offer to move to #2 is #12, #22, #53, #65 and 2019's 2nd round pick. That would leave them with #2 overall, and one pick in the 2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th rounds.
