Last year’s team was really terrible. Perhaps the worst in the Josh era.

I am really enjoying this. Thanks op! We do need to remind ourselves periodically that we have an all time choker as a HC and everything could come to a crashing down in an instance when it matters most. Really nothing is off the table. He could decide to send an all out blitz and get us torched for the game winner. The over-correction to past blunders is what I fear most.

Guessing but the red zone offense has probably been less than stellar the last few years and that’s why they were always calling trick plays down there to make up for it. That and not being able to run the ball.

I think the next step in McD’s head coaching maturation is handing over the defense to someone else. If he can’t do that, he will have to go. I’m fine with him staying as HC but the soft zone gotta go. In his update the other day, he tried to distance himself from the defense to make it seem like it’s Babich’s defense and he only helps when needed. Nope. Nice try dude. There’s been a continuous blurring of the lines and that’s to escape accountability. We’ve already seen it play out too. When the heat gets close to him, he just fires the puppet that’s running his defense and continues on.

IMO, in this scenario it’s the HC’s job to make sure the team isn’t in a position to win because you can’t count on the players to do so. You have to make it impossible.

McD defense has always had these flaws. It’s nothing new.

4th and short is the only thing this defense is good at.
