You also need a top 5 defense. If you look at the SB winners over the last 10-15 years, they all had top defenses except for KC and NE, and even they played like a top defenses during those runs. They improved drastically in the playoffs. Bucs were 1 both times Rams were 1 KC and SF this year 2&3 Philly (lost) but was still 1 Ravens were top 3 both Seahawks were 1 Denver(Manning) were 1 Giants were 1 or 2 Steelers were top 3 Colts (Manning) top 3? The narrative that you can win with the 12th or worse ranked defense has never been true. The defense can really be no worse than 7th and trending up to have a shot.

They need 2 new starting safeties and 1 CB at the very least and then there’s the DL. Looks like an entire defensive rebuild to me.

Giants are moving up for a QB or they take your selection at 6 as a last resort. They really don’t have a choice. This is year 3 and Schoen still hasn’t selected a QB. Both are often true. McD is coaching up pretty weak talent but he’s coaching them up to fail on the big stage because his scheme doesn’t work against good teams. Its not a good situation at all.

Many times this season I’ve seen coaches go for it, manage to get it, then get stuffed on the next series and settle for a FG anyway or turn it over. It would be different if that 4th and 4 decision guaranteed you a TD but it doesn’t. You’re on the road, with a lead, you kick the FG every time. Andy Reid kicks that FG in that spot.

But they had to make him one of the highest paid QB’s in the league. Financially, it didn’t make much sense if you’re looking 5 years down the road.

I would make the trade just to have another DC and scheme.

Yeah. It really is the scheme. It’s also undersized and when 1 guy goes down in a game, the entire defense collapses. It takes McD 2-3 weeks to adjust his defense to injuries unlike the Chiefs that just adjust on the fly in the same game. That’s not acceptable when all of your team’s resources are being spent on that side of the ball.

Damn. It felt that bad too. Continuously shredded in playoffs.

There was a rookie QB in the playoffs this season and he could’ve been a Raven if they traded Lamar (like he supposedly wanted) and moved up in that draft.

Draft a QB that can throw the ball. Maybe no team actually wanted to trade for him?

The Ravens had a perfect opportunity to move on from Lamar in the offseason and they totally blew it. I’ll never understand that decision. They deserve what they get now.
