Georgia election laws and MLB
Governor replied to Orlando Buffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Do you know where that behavior started? Bullying in schools. It just expanded throughout our entire culture. We went from trying to protect victims, to using that victimhood and attacking others. -
No problem has a one size fits all fix. Personally, I’d be just fine paying higher taxes if I knew that we had a really high quality police force that wasn’t constantly bidding on new toys that aren’t necessary. I think Troopers in NJ make like 80/year. I’d give them a modest bump. Cops in the south make like 17 bucks an hour. I wouldn’t take that job. I would double the pay of an officer in any southern state.

I get what you’re saying but the manufactured anger and outrage over looting is just an auto-response that I’ve heard my entire life. Now, if people were going into random people’s homes and kicking their dog, punching their wife in the face, and pooing on their kitchen floor, I’d be right there with you, but I just have a really hard time believing that people are genuinely outraged that a few retailers are broken into and some plastic items(that are insured) go missing. So to me, the threats about looting seem to be more about control.

Pat Robertson is right but the training also needs to be fixed. There’s also way too many cops. They aren’t needed. You could lay off 1/4 of the cops in this country and no one would notice. Pay the ones they keep. We need to make the job attractive again and you do that with higher pay. Hire smarter people. We can’t just keep hiring anyone who’s ex-military. The police aren’t soldiers. We shouldn’t be making all of them jail/prison guards either. It only perpetuates the broken system that we’re about to dismantle and clean up. We also don’t need the fire departments showing up to every single tiny incident and then requesting/demanding bullet proof vests because they’re showing up to every single incident. I don’t know who’s bright idea that was and when that started, but it needs to be fixed. No more toys! We’ll call you when there’s a fire! “I think the problem is they’ve got to pay them more,” he said. “We don’t have the finest in the police department. They’re low-paid people… it’s not a question of training, it’s a question of hiring a more superior workforce, and we aren’t doing it.” “But we need police, we need them, and we need to honor them, and I’m all for it, but at the same time, we cannot have a bunch of clowns running around who are underpaid and who really are not the best and brightest,” Robertson concluded.

I expected the crew that likes murdering civilians to jump on that one. That only took like 1 minute.

When someone has a knife, they’re training says to shoot that person in the leg. In this instance, it wasn’t supposed to be a lethal shot, per training manual.

The narrative I saw most today was “You will die if you take a grain of sand worth of Fent, so he was obviously OD’ing and was going to die anyway.”

You’re losing this battle and you’re lashing out. That’s to be expected. I don’t really have a horse in this race. I’m just explaining that it is actually effective to target these corporations since they’re the ones funding the police. When CVS gets tired of replacing their front windows, they’ll get on the phone with their city police and tell them to cut the crap. That’s happening everywhere right now. Trying to pretend that Joe’s corner pizza shop and Beths cleaners are the intended targets is just nonsense from the right to make it seem like the tactics aren’t working. The country sees through that, as you can see.
-
It is working. It’s targeted attacks and boycotts and it is disrupting the money to police and causing these corporations to change their behavior and take stands on social justice. People are just upset about that. Police departments all around this country are changing due to tactics by protesters, BLM, etc.

Didn’t Obama already take your guns? How did you get more? -
Police could just stop killing people. It shouldn’t be all that hard. No one should be killing anyone. Youre pretending that a single Target store’s windows are more important than someone’s life.

It’s already in the works. I’d bet everything that I have that there’s already legislation written and sitting on Nancy’s desk right now waiting to be introduced in the future. Ha!!! Not everyone agrees. The North American Meat Institute took issue with the study, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/is-it-time-to-put-a-tax-on-meat/#app -
Are we supposed to be sad that a corporation like CVS suffered some vandalism when they’re funneling millions of dollars to police for “added protection” which perpetuates the bad behavior and contributes to the bloated police state? if you’re goal is to disrupt the money flow to police, isn’t that exactly who the protesters should be targeting?

No one said you can’t ever have beef again. We’re going to “reduce” meat consumption, and how you do that is by taxing the hell out of it to change “bad behavior.” That’s what we did with cigarettes, and many other things that lead to death if not used in moderation. I won’t even get into the strain on the HC system from the meat and dairy industries. -
Yeah. The police shouldn’t behave this way. It’s very costly in the end.

It’s the most impactful choice that 1 individual can make if they care about the environment. Not buying a Prius, or recycling, or anything else. it’s not the 1700’s anymore. The “Swedes” will be fine. What’s different today is that other countries like Brazil and China are now eating beef in large amounts. That wasn’t the case 20 years ago. They’re knocking down rainforests now to raise cattle on. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/dec/21/lifestyle-change-eat-less-meat-climate-change -

Beef production needs about 28 times more land than the production of pork or chicken, and requires 11 times more water. When you compare it to other food items such as rice, for example, and potatoes or wheat, beef needs 160 times more land, and releases 11 times more greenhouse gases. -

Food addiction is no joke. IMO, it’s worse than a heroin addiction because it actually kills your body quicker. You see all of the same behaviors, excuse making, etc (vitamin lies)that you would see from a heroin addict also. As a nation, we should be treating them exactly the same. America is addicted to bad food. -
If you got your news from this board you’d think that Portland and Minneapolis are piles of rubble. Nothing left.
