Bills aggressively trying to get ahead of Jets
racketmaster replied to Jammer8732's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only way I would be happy with Bills moving to #2 would be if it were for Darnold. No other qb is worth the risk and draft capital. -
The winning part is not my favorite complaint but I believe most good NFL quarterbacks have won in college and usually elevate their programs. I recall seeing some analysis on this somewhere but don’t have it at the ready right now. But there are other factors for sure that go into winning but qb is pretty important.

I’m fine with Rosen if he falls to 12. Maybe go to 10 to get him. He has great mechanics and throws a nice ball. Concerns: 1) Rosen makes some bad decisions and sometimes gets away with some dangerous throws. He has a little Eli Manning to him where he can get really hot or he can make some awful decisions. 2) He has slow feet. I wish his feet were a little quicker as he frequently gets sacks while trying to escape pocket. If his feet were a little quicker he would not be caught as often. 3) Durability. He is pocket qb and he takes some shots. Has had some significant injuries and am not sure his body can hold up to a 16+ game season. 4) Had a lot of hype around him at UCLA but I wish he would have won more games. His record is very average (just above .500). I like to see qbs elevate their programs to a different level. That said, we need a qb and if he falls close to 12, I would take a shot. Keeping our picks would allow us to fill in some significant holes.

Beane cost us the 3rd overall pick. JMO
racketmaster replied to CuddyDark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In fairness, the Bills had the 12th and 22nd pick (since the Glenn trade came before the Jets swap). But it did seem like the Colts were more interested in dropping just a few slots as opposed to dropping outside the top 10. -

Once the draft is over, there will be time to evaluate how Beane did in his first draft. -

racketmaster replied to CuddyDark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will all come down to how Beane has the quarterbacks ranked. For example, if Darnold is ranked a 9.0 and the next 3 quarterbacks are all 8.0s then maybe it would be worth it to target Darnold at 2. Or if that is too expensive, then take the 4th qb that he has ranked at 8.0. There are so many possibilities with a deep class of quarterbacks. When if Rudolph is their 2nd or 3rf rated qb? But they feel that they can get him at 22. They could end up with a stud defender at 12 and a qb they really like at 22. Again, there are so many variable to include another team’s willingness to trade out and move to pick 12. I think Beane is smart and savy so I am giving him the benefit of the doubt for this draft to get it right. -

But would it be a mistake if one of the top 4 (most likely Rosen), falls in the draft? Bills could end up keeping most of their picks if they end up only having to move up to 9 or 10. They have a lot of holes and this draft is said to be very deep in talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. -
Wonderlic test scores of 2018 NFL Draft QBs leaked
racketmaster replied to Mopreme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, but he still struggled the first year to learn the system and was sometimes running the wrong plays. He was able to get away with it at the college level because he is a freak athlete. Adjustments were made for his sophomore and junior year. Either Jackson was able to pick it up with more time or the offense was simplified (or a combination of the two). So I see the Erhardt-Perkins offense thrown around a lot that Jackson ran and using it as an example that he ran a complicated NFL offense. I would just caution this thinking because we really do not know what was asked of him. Was he allowed to audible? Set protections? Make checks? What was the play verbage and how signaled into him? What was the playbook volume? Etc. It’s possible that he did run a complicated version of the offense and had a lot of responsibility. It’s also possible the offense was simplified and he was given limited responsibility. The scouts and coaches will have figured this out during the draft process. -

It’s possible that he can. Only time will tell. -

What will allow him to be successful: 1) Freakish athleticism will stress defenses with his legs. 2) Good arm and solid release. 3). Good character and appears willing to work. 4) See #1 as he is an unbelievable athlete for the position. Concerns: 1) Learning an NFL Offense and being able to adjust each week could be an issue. 2) Throwing mechanics need an adjustment with his narrow base. 3) Accuracy. See #2 because if he fixes that he will probably be accurate enough. 4) Will need to develop more patience in the pocket and trust going deeper into his progressions. -
Wonderlic test scores of 2018 NFL Draft QBs leaked

I can’t say that I am too surprised by the Ferguson score. He is talented but did not impress much from a mental standpoint from the interviews I have seen. I still believe this is a concern for Jackson being the lowest score of all the prospects. He struggled to learn Petrino’s offense his first year. There were a number of times That Jackson was excecuting plays that were not the ones called by the staff because he did not know them. We know that college offenses are simplied already so this is somewhat troubling because much more will be asked if him at the NFL level. Jackson appeared to pick up the offense much better in years two and three but how the coaching staff taught him and what was truly expected of him is only known to the Louisville staff and the teams that have spoken to them. -
I’d say at least 3 maybe a 4th low end franchise qb. I also believe there will be at least 5-6 capable quarterbacks from this draft (at least capable of being a top end backup). The class is very deep and there will be a few surprise players like a Rudolph, Falk, Lauletta, White etc. beyond the top 5 that are most discussed. Plus, the top 5 qbs have serious potential. In the end, Bills will get a qb. Just hope it’s the right one for our franchise.

Kim pegulas interview- nfl mobile app
racketmaster replied to Brian3488's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills planning on drafting a quarterback has been worst kept secret so it’s not exactly like Kim Pegula spilled the beans. If you thought that it was a 99% chance we go quarterback in the first, now it is 100%. -
Ian Rapoport - Bills not going after 2nd pick
racketmaster replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm warming up to the idea of moving up somewhere between 6-10 in order to draft Rosen. He is pro ready and there is not much to question about him on the field (other than durability). The more interviews I watch on him the better I feel about him as a franchise qb. I just don't see Rosen as a Jeff George or Jay Cutler type of guy. If anything he appears more similar to an Aaron Rodgers. So if personality is no longer a concern, I am left with durability. This is where I am changing my opinion a bit and more willing to take the risk. The capital needed to trade up for Rosen will be less if he drops out of the top 5. It would be too much risk to go to #2 for him (too many draft picks) but he could be good value trading up to the 6-10 range. -
Bills Go 7-9 this Season
racketmaster replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mccaron is a downgrade so if he starts all year, 7 wins would be optimistic. The rookie qb will be the wildcard. Are they ready to start? And how well will they play? Too early to make any serious predictions. -
Why all the hate for Josh Allen?
racketmaster replied to Buff76ers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not all but it is common to see Allen threads stating he “sucks”, “garbage”, “puke if they draft him”, “would not draft him in the 4th round”, make fun of his accuracy etc. there is a lot of things being said about Allen that seem to be gross exaggerations and non-sensical. He has his flaws but posters that hate him completely ignore the positives. -
Why all the hate for Josh Allen?
racketmaster replied to Buff76ers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fans hate Allen much more than NFL scouts and coaches do. Many fans see the 56% completion rate and it is end of story. NFL evaluators don’t base their entire evaluation on a quarterbacks college stats. There are too many variables from surrounding and opposing talent to what type of scheme they ran. -

Bills had private workout with QB Luke Falk
racketmaster replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills also attended 2 of Falk’s games last year. Thought maybe the Bills had lost interest in him. They could just be looking for options if they get shut out of the top 4 and Rudolph and Jackson are not considered values where they might have to take them. I still think that Bills want to trade up for Darnold and if that can’t happen they probably settle for Rudolph at 12 or 22. -
Peterman Works w/ Tom House, Adds Velocity
racketmaster replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best thing about this thread is that it prompted a $100 wager. Lol Too long of a timeframe for me to bet on but I personally like the odds that Peterman is on a 53 man roster in 2019. -

Bills will draft a potential franchise qb in about a week. Bills are smart enough to not bank on Mccaron or Peterman being the long term solution. We just disagree on whether Peterman can be a quality backup. What he showed in the preseason and in limited action (other than SD) was a poised qb that generally made quick and smart decisions. If he makes a few improvements to his game this season he could earn the right to be our backup and make Mccaron expendable in a year. -

This is reasonable. I’m certainly not advocating that he can be our franchise qb but I too think there is a chance he could be a quality and affordable backup. -

It’s possible that he does not improve but I believe the Bills saw something in him last year to draft him and then keep him. Also, the coaching staff must have seen something in Peterman that warranted pulling the starting qb in the middle of a playoff run. Here is what we know: 1. Peterman was expected to be a mid round draft pick last year and we got value getting him in the 5th. 2. Peterman looked pretty solid for a rookie in the preseason games. Enough that there were a significant amount of fans wanting him to start over TT. 3. Coaching staff thought he was ready to start on the road in the middle of a playoff race. 4. Peterman started out well in the game against SD but seemed rattled after the tipped interception. He never recovered and was benched for 2nd half. 5. When called upon to play against the Colts in the snow game he performed well in the severe conditions. Not much can be taken from the game but he handled the conditions better than Brissett before he was injured. 6. We know that it is fairly common for rookie qbs to make significant improvements in their 2nd and 3rd year’s. Their is a learning curve and they often begin to feel more comfortable. This is especially true if the qb is willing to put in extra time. 7. Peterman is self aware (very good quality to have) and knew that he needed to make improvements so he sought out and expert in the field in order to improve mechanics and velocity. Maybe nothing changes but I think there is reason to believe that Peterman can at least be a serviceable backup. I know it was a historically bad half but this is such a small sample. Great qbs can have a really bad half. I say give the kid a little more time before we make definitive judgments that he can’t play the position (the position of a quality backup).
