  1. I would truly love to hear your idea for the quarterback position. We haven't had a good one for 20 years. Why not go another 20, right?
  2. Pffffft. You're dreaming. Cool! We'll just play....um...WHO at quarterback, again?
  3. I happen to believe that Baker Mayfield will be far and away the best quarterback in this draft. I believe he has Hall of Fame potential. So if that turns out NOT to be the case, if he is a total bust or gets into off field trouble or turns out to be Just A Guy, I'll eat a crow burger with crow aioli.
  4. Great job. Would love this draft. To those saying "too rich for my blood": Really? Bills acquire a franchise QB and still get to have basically a regular draft this year. Yes, they lose next year's 1st, but you have to give up something to gain something. In this case, that "something" has been missing in Buffalo since 1997: a franchise QB! I just can't believe, after 21 years of futility, that anyone would still be gun-shy about acquiring a QB just because some draft picks need to be given up. How long do the Bills sit back and be content with second third tier passers? Sheesh! I hope the draft goes exactly as written in the OP (with, of course, the adjustment to the second round since we give up one of those picks).
  5. I know it's already been said, but Harrison Phillips is the most "McDermott-y" guy you'll ever find. Wrestling champion, double-majored at Stanford, active in the community, effort player, perfect heir to Kyle Williams. I am convinced there will never be another prospect that more perfectly matches what McDermott wants in a player.
  6. Josh Allen. Let's see: Perfect QB physique, huge arm, no accuracy. Where have I heard this one before....Oh right! The last two first round QBs we drafted!
  7. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/special-counsel-wants-documents-trump-numerous-campaign-associates-n853386?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_np Special counsel wants documents from Trump, numerous campaign associates by KATY TUR and ALEX JOHNSON WASHINGTON — The grand jury investigating alleged collusion between Russia and Donald Trump's presidential campaign has issued a subpoena seeking all documents involving the president and a host of his closest advisers, according to a copy of the subpoena reviewed by NBC News. According to the subpoena, which was sent to a witness by special counsel Robert Mueller, investigators want emails, text messages, work papers, telephone logs and other documents going back to Nov. 1, 2015, 4½ months after Trump launched his campaign.
  8. I love that he is -- by his very presence in all things QB related the past two seasons -- insisting to his front office without equivocation that they need to find a franchise quarterback. It's not that I think he aids the research. Instead, I simply feel that he's making it very clear to those he employs that quarterback should be the Bills' top priority. To be sure, if he's vetoing decisions, stepping on the toes of the personnel men, or being overly meddlesome, then I don't support it. But that's not the feeling I get from him. We have no indications thus far that he's a Jerry Jones (or even Ralph Wilson) type owner.
  9. I think Terry wants to personally ensure that the Bills obtain a franchise quarterback. All of the talk of him dining with Mitch Trubisky and the Bills wanting to trade up for him last year, and now this. Pegula may not be a "football guy", he's more of a fan just like you and I. But even fans in the stands know that you need a franchise QB to win consistently in the NFL, and I believe he wants to help identify and select one. Given that we know the Bills won't be in the Cousins chase, it's safe to surmise at this point that they WILL be drafting a quarterback, and almost certainly in the 1st round. It's gonna be an interesting couple months leading up to the draft.
  10. Thank you for the work to put this together. Well done. Here's the thing for me: I KNOW the hit rate in the top half of the draft is low. But if you're part of that minority percentage that DOES hit on a pick -- particularly at QB -- it can change your franchise. On one side of the coin, you have Washington, who traded a bunch to move up for RGIII, and it was a swing and a miss. But on the OTHER side of that coin is Philadelphia. THEY traded up for a quarterback and struck gold. Is a move up risky? Yes. Is there a reasonably likelihood that the player you move up for busts? Yes. Is it necessary to take risks and swing the bat every now and then if you want to hit a home run? Yes. In the case of attempting to obtain a franchise quarterback, I accept the risk.
  11. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh snap! Somebody get Terry P some ice for that burn!
  12. Love it. He was heavily involved in the research of Mitch Trubisky last year as well, who the Bills were heavily rumored to be interested in trading up for.
  13. For those who want the Bills to trade up (this includes me): It is in the Bills' best interest for the Broncos to win the Cousins sweepstakes. Elway has already stated that the #5 pick is up for grabs "depending how things play out in free agency". The 5 spot, obviously, will require less capital to obtain than the #2 or #3. Assuming Barkley and Chubb go in the top 5, that means two of the big four are guaranteed to be available at the 5th pick. So...Fingers crossed for Denver to get the job done.
  14. Haven't read all the replies, but I'm firmly against NOT addressing the quarterback position. Every NFL roster has holes every single year. There is never a complete roster. The closest to "complete" that I have seen the Bills roster be was the first year of Rex Ryan's tenure. We had quality RB, WR, TE, O-line, Defensive personnel, special teams...and why didn't we win championships? Bad coaching sure, but also because we had NO QUALITY QUARTERBACK! You can build and build and build your roster as much as you want, but until you have a franchise QB in place, you're just spinning your wheels. Furthermore, once you DO have a franchise QB in place, you can use the cap savings from a cheap 5-year QB contract to build the roster around him. This is the model that the Seahawks, Eagles, Rams, Chiefs, etc are using right now to great effect. I am beyond sick of saying "wait til next year to get a QB!". If you're not going to draft a quarterback in a year in which there are five 1st round prospects, you have extra draft capital, and it's the first full offseason for a new coach/GM combination, then when ARE you going to draft a QB? I mean...enough already. Get me a QB. Fill in the blanks afterwords.
  15. Haven't read the entire thread, but just wanted to say: If one personnel decision honestly makes you give up the Buffalo Bills, then you are a weak-ass B word, and the team will be better off without your ****ty, conditional fandom. Thank you.
  16. !@#$ Jarvis Landry with a rusty spoon. He can take his $16 million salary and his 4.76 40 time and run a pivot route straight to hell. I hate his Gatorade-jug bullying, frosted tips, diva antics, whiny ass nonsense. He's a total garbage person and he plays for a garbage franchise and I hope they stay together forever and finish 7-9 every year and that he only makes the Pro Bowl during the years that it's in Orlando ,because !@#$ Orlando too. And yes, I've been drinking.
  17. 1. Baker Mayfield -- if he were 2 inches taller, he'd be the slam dunk first overall pick in the draft. Will be the best of the bunch due to what's in his chest. 2. Josh Rosen -- Mechanics, arm strength, intelligence. If he didn't have character/leadership concerns, he'd ALSO be in the discussion as slam dunk first overall pick. 3. Lamar Jackson -- I'm much higher on his abilities as a quarterback than most. I'm also more confident that he'll make plays in the NFL than the guys listed below. 4. Sam Darnold -- I like his intangibles, arm strength, mobility, and his accuracy MOST OF THE TIME. His wonky throwing motion and turnover-prone nature worry me. 5. Josh Allen -- I absolutely HATE "perfect size, elite arm strength" prospects who can't actually, ya know, play quarterback. I hope the Bills stay far, far away. 6. Mason Rudolph -- I like his deep ball and his frame. I'm not sure he'll have the mental processing ability or nuance to his game needed to be a quality pro. 7. White/Lauletta/Falk -- Throw these three names in a hat. Pull one out. You've just landed yourself a quality 10-year backup.
  18. Mike did what he was supposed to do. Provide leadership, help with the culture change, block on passing downs, and chip in a few thundering runs throughout the year (remember when he trucked Lawrence Timmons out of his shoes in Miami?! The problem, as another poster stated, was relying on him as RB2. He should have been RB3 and Williams should have been kept. I STILL can't figure out why they cut Williams.
  19. hah. The Rams should NEVER have drafted him so high. It was silly. He's taller Roscoe Parrish. Second rounder all the way.
  20. I agree, actually. I think he's trade-happy and doesn't have a cogent long term vision. I look at him and I see Doug Whaley redux. Rams will have a few seasons of playoff berths, but will be decimated by inability to pay all their highly drafted stars and inability to keep replenishing the roster because Snead trades away picks.
  21. I feel that Austin was misused just about his whole time with the Rams. He spent much of his career in Jeff Fisher offenses, so that tells you a lot, as well. To me, he should be used pretty much strictly on jet sweep actions, returns, and screens. See: Tyreek Hill. He is not, never has been, and never WILL be a true WR. If you treat him as such and use him as I just mentioned instead, I think he can be productive for your offense.
  22. As time goes on, I warm up more and more to the idea of staying put at 21 and drafting Lamar Jackson. If the Bills aren't going to trade up to the top 5 for a Rosen or a Mayfield, then I hope they take Jackson. Daboll can design an offense that will fit both Tyrod and Jackson's skillset. Tyrod -- who is already under contract for a reasonable amount and is a leader in the locker room and can get you to the playoffs -- starts until Jackson is good enough to take the job from him. Yes, I realize the worst case scenario with Jackson is that he's a total bust and can't play quarterback in the NFL. But heck, that's the risk with ALL these guys, and they don't have even half of Jackson's pure athletic ability and upside. If you're not going all out for a top 3 QB, stay put and take Jackson.
  23. In addition to wanting someone other than Whaley to do the quarterback selecting, I also think McDermott assumed that -- after all the roster purging they were doing -- they would likely have a pretty poor record and a top 10 pick in this year's draft. Everyone figured this year's draft crop at QB would be great. So not only did he probably want the future GM (not Whaley) doing the grocery shopping, he also probably figured he'd have "more money to spend" at the store. And for what it's worth, I agree that it was pretty silly to not pick a QB last year. The only difference is that I wanted Watson.
  24. Someone showed me a graph recently that demonstrated Lotulolei's productivity in stopping the run. It has gone DOWN every year since he entered the league. He is trending in the wrong direction and is likely to command a large contract. Something about Dontari Poe doesn't sit well with me either. This would be his third team in less than 5 years. Something's not right there. I choose Bennie Logan.
  25. Fair enough. In my opinion, every one of his picks was at a need position. We need a RT, C, CB, EDGE, and QB. They may not be the BIGGEST needs, but what if the value isn't there at those picks? Would you still prefer he plug a DT and LB into the mock just because those are the biggest needs? I'm not saying the guy doing the mock isn't clueless about the Bills. He probably is. Most mock drafters are. But this whole "every pick made needs to fill a primary need" idea is off base. That's often not how drafts work, especially if the value isn't there. And once again, the positions he picked for the Bills ARE needs. And for the record, I too think the Bills will draft a defensive tackle and a linebacker. But my MAIN point was that if they identify and then trade up for and secure what they believe to be a franchise quarterback, the rest is gravy to me.
