I will also say that I thought his being a healthy scratch in week 16 was telling. All things being equal, I get the feeling the Bills would like to go with youth at the position. If the Bills are going to roll the dice with an oft-injured player at tight end, I'd rather they go with Tyler Eifert. At least there is a high ceiling there if he can get past the injury bug.

https://theathletic.com/790400/2019/01/29/siberian-stigma-how-the-bills-recruit-free-agents-to-buffalo-and-why-deep-pockets-dont-always-help/?redirected=1 Tim Graham just posted the above article to Theathletic.com. It discusses the difficulties in getting free agents to come to Buffalo. It's an all-around good article, but the nugget buried in the middle that was most interesting to me is this: "Mike Shanahan has stated he would’ve been the Bills’ coach if his wife hadn’t refused to come." Maybe everyone else already knew that, but it came as news to me. Interesting "what if" to ponder.

Colts re-sign potential Bills FA target OG Mark Glowinski
Logic replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every year, without fail: If we DON'T sign quality players, people complain that the GM is sitting on his hands and doing nothing. If we DO sign quality players but overpay a bit to do it (because, ya know...that's how free agency works, especially when you're trying to lure players to a bad weather city that hasn't won in 20 years), people cry "WE OVERPAID!". Damned if you do, damned if you don't. -
I want to know three things about any WR prospect: 1. Can he create separation? 2. Can he catch the football? 3. Does he have a good attitude? If the answer is yes to all three, then I'm on board. I don't care if he's a giant, an athletic marvel, a contested catch artist, etc, etc...Can he separate, can he catch, is he a good dude? That's all I care about. I don't know enough about this year's crop of draftable WRs to be able to say who checks all three boxes.

David Culley (former Bills QB coach) gone- to Ravens
Logic replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, I guess all the Culley haters got their wish! Will be interesting to see how replaces him. Position coaching hires aren't always that newsworthy, but the QB coach hire will be, for obvious reasons. -
Colts re-sign potential Bills FA target OG Mark Glowinski
Logic replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the Colts having the most free cap space in the league, I wasn't expecting Glowinski to hit the market anyway. However, the OT and OG markets have been set with the recent deals of Massie and Glowinski. Given that FAs tend to get more than they're worth, we can expect an OT to fetch between 10 and 13 million per year. An OG should fetch between 6 and 10 million per year. I think if the Bills can find a way to sign a C and OT in Free Agency, a quality guard can be found in the 2nd-4th rounds of the draft. -
Whatever it is about having Anderson in the QB room with him every week as a player, Allen sure seemed to improve a lot once he came aboard. He also has specifically mentioned on multiple occasions how much DA is helping his development. As long as his presence is helping our franchise QB develop, I have no problem with him taking up a roster spot. The continued successful development of our quarterback is more important than, say, a 6th WR who would be inactive most game days anyway.

The Inabilty to Draft a CB cost the Bills 4 Super Bowls
Logic replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always thought it was the amount of time it took the Bills to figure out they should be running the ball every down against a 2-linemen defense that cost them the first Super Bowl. I'm not convinced they would have won the other three no matter what. Those Redskins and Cowboys teams were incredibly great. -
What Players are you focusing on in today's senior bowl
Logic replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the captains for his squad are the ones with the Raiders insignia, actually. -
It's weird to me that this year's draft class is discussed by many as not being very good for WRs. With guys like Butler, Harry, Metcalf, Brown, Brown, et al, I just don't know how people can say that. Here's hoping the Bills grab at least one of the top 5 just mentioned. Especially given that this year's free agent WR market is lacking in quality.

Given that Beane was part of the Panthers front office when they drafted RT Daryl Williams, that is who I'm expecting to be the one "big ticket item" the Bills spend on -- assuming the Panthers don't re-sign him first. I also expect them to hand out a moderate contract to an offensive guard. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess. I DO agree with the notion that they're not gonna go out and spend crazy money. A lot of Bills fans who've set themselves up to think we're gonna be big players in free agency may be disappointed. If they can get the offensive line mostly squared away and find some linebacker or corner depth, I'll consider FA a big win.

Just saw a USA Today mock draft which had the Bills trading back to the 15th spot and garnering and extra 2nd round pick. In the first two rounds, they had the Bills taking: OT Greg Little WR Hakeem Butler WR Marquise Brown Not too bad. And in their scenario, TE Hockenson was actually still available when they picked Marquise Brown. That's who I'd take instead in this scenario.

Two makes sense to me. Foster Jones McKenzie Williams Draftee Draftee And that's without knowing whether they add any WRs in FA.

Senior Bowl- Day 3 A Bills fan first hand take
Logic replied to CEN-CAL17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for taking the time to write up this report. Excellent stuff. As I mentioned in another thread, Risner is my #1 draft crush this year. He just has "process" written all over him. -
I hope you're right. I keep thinking about Beane's recent quote about how our o-line lacked cohesion and leadership this year. We never really replaced Wood's leadership. I can't think of a better candidate to come in on day 1 and be the alpha in the o-line room than Risner. Interesting. I'm not familiar with him, but am reading that link as we speak. What position would you see him playing in Buffalo? His size has me thinking he could be a candidate at weak or strong. Perhaps a guy to be a goomed as eventual replacement for Lorenzo Alexander?
