Bills FA moves garner praise from national media
Logic replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Media is badmouthing the Bills? "They're a bunch of idiots and hacks! They don't know what they're talking about!" Media is complimenting the Bills? "They're right, ya know! I've always liked that guy!" -
I echo the sentiment that Williams' injury may have been more serious than many are giving credit for. I expect him to either re-sign with the Panthers on a 1-year prove-it deal or to sign with the Giants on a 1-year prove-it deal. Either way, I expect that the Bills will not be the team to sign him.

Key word for in Bills Free Agent additions: Flexibility

I also attended that game. I expect it will stand forever as the worst sporting event I ever attend. Just putrid. -
Robert Foster stayed in Buffalo for offseason to train
Logic replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Foster has everything needed to be a top end #1 receiver in this league. He's big, he's fast, he's dedicated, and he has good chemistry with Josh Allen. -

Key word for in Bills Free Agent additions: Flexibility

Like a Browns fan said on Twitter this morning: 2020 AFC Championship Game - Bills vs Browns, the Battle for Lake Erie. -
With the caveat that free agency obviously isn't over yet and there will likely be at least a couple more signings... The word that keeps coming to mind regarding the Bills free agent signing is Flexibility. First, it should be noted that Beane front loaded most of these contracts, such that if any of them don't work out the way the Bills hope, they can easily move on after year 1 or 2. None of the moves thus far should hamstring the Bills long term. It should also contribute to the Bills being in the top three for cap space available NEXT offseason. In this way, the moves provide the Bills FINANCIAL flexibility. Second, many of the moves provide the Bills ROSTER flexibility in terms of how the players fit in and how they affect the draft. Long, Feliciano, and Nsekhe could all win starting jobs on the offensive line. On the other hand, none of them carry such a high cap number that it will prevent the Bills from drafting players at guard and tackle. As such, if the free agent signees DON'T win starting jobs, they will provide versatile and experienced depth. Long has played both center and guard, Feliciano has played all three interior positions, and Nsekhe has played everywhere but center. The Bills could even theoretically move Dawkins to LG and start Nsekhe at LT. Furthermore, the additions at WR and TE mean that while a drafted player at those positions remains desirable, it is no longer an emergent need. Not only did the Bills add players that will immediately help their roster, they did so in a way that provides both financial and positional flexibility going forward, as well as allowing them to truly draft the best player available in all 10 rounds come April. For these reasons, I think the Bills absolutely knocked it out of the park in free agency this year. Beane stayed true to his word, filling holes, acquiring players that fit the Bills culture, and maintaining flexibility and financial solvency moving forward. A++

Idiot. Huge, huge idiot. What he's doing is roster malpractice. He should be jailed.

WR Cole Beasley (Dallas) to the Bills
Logic replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the ONLY things keeping many fans from being more excited about this signing are the following: - His age - Failing to realize how important a quick and savvy slot receiver is to the success of the Daboll offense, PARTICULARLY with all of the space that exists underneath due to respect for Allen's arm and the Bills' outside receivers' speed. Beasley will become a Buffalo fan favorite in short order. -
Ed Oliver would not surprise me one bit. Another guy who I know isn't on most people's radar but who has "process" written all over him is Christian Wilkins from Clemson.

I'll give you that one. Jamal Adams is the truth.

Mike McCagnan is a garbage GM. He gave out huge money to a running back and an off-ball linebacker. His draft picks, other than Darnold, have been mediocre to poor. Adam Gase already had an undisciplined team with no identity in Miami, and now he's bringing the ***** show to New Jersey. Color me unimpressed with everything about the Jets OTHER than Sam Darnold, who I like.

Report - Bills talking to Hou for Clowney
Logic replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Between the Frank Clark talk, the Ansah visit, and Beane's unsolicited talk about Hughes and Lawson both being up at the end of this season, it's become pretty clear to me that landing a good to great edge rusher was and is a top priority for the Bills. -
G Jon Feliciano (Raiders) to the Bills
Logic replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love when players spend their first contract on one team, learning to become NFL players and getting spot starts, and then when they're finally ready to take the next step and become starters, my favorite team scoops them up and reaps the rewards. Another great addition from Beane! Both Feliciano and Nsekhe are players that could potentially be starting level players, but who will not keep the Bills from drafting youngsters at those positions. If the vets lose the competitions, they'll be valuable, high level depth. If they win the competitions, they'll allow the rookies to learn from the bench from some savvy veterans. -
Bills betting on the acumen of their medical staff
Logic replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a little weird to me the amount of "it's football, people get injured" responses I've seen so far. Why are people afraid/unwilling to admit that the crop of FAs the Bills have signed so far seem to be more injury prone than your typical, occasional football injury. Like I said, look at a guy like Kroft: Missed so much time in 3 of 4 seasons that the team that spent a high pick in him didn't even want to keep him around. Ditto Kevin Johnson. There are typical, freak football injuries, and then there are players who seem to have a history of CHRONIC, RECURRENT injuries that keep them from living up to their potential as players. We seem to be signing a lot of the latter this offseasn. I'm fine with it, I'm just point out that its a reality. Why the pushback on that simple statement? I have no idea. Why the refusal/unwillingness to admit that there's a difference between random, regular football injuries and players who are SO chronically injured that it has affected their career? I have no idea. -
Bills betting on the acumen of their medical staff

Right. I get it. As I posted in a reply above, the medical histories of the guys I mentioned are beyond your run-of-the-mill NFL injuries. Not all injuries and injury histories are created equally. To pretend that signing a guy with Tyler Kroft's injury history, for instance (miseed games in 3 out of his 4 NFL seasons) is completely the same as signing a guy who HASN'T missed substantial time, is being disingenuous. Again, people need not get defensive, because as I said, I LOVE what the Bills have done so far. I don't see why people are hesitant to admit that a common theme among Bills signings so far is a checkered medical history. -
Yeah, um...The Jets are NOT winning free agency. Crowder is a good get, as is Bellamy. Not world shattering. And Mosley is an AWESOME player, but paying that kind of money to an off-ball linebacker? No thanks. And then Barr backing out on them? Also, their need for a center was/is as big as the Bills, and they missed on both Morse and Paradis, and it's well known that they went hard after Paradis. Not impressed with the Jets' offseason at all. But then, that's not surprising, because I think Mike McCagnan is a terrible GM.

Bills betting on the acumen of their medical staff

Exactly. And this is my point. The Bills medical staff said these guys were healthy enough to sign, and time will tell if they were correct. That's what the thread is about. And by the way, with the guys mentioned, we're beyond "news flash, players get injured". Morse missed FIVE games with a concussion AND battled lower extremity issues the year before that many Chiefs fans/analysts say he never fully recovered from. Long has been so injury prone that he was forced to sign a cheap prove-it deal. Kevin Johnson was a 1st round pick whose entire career has been derailed by injuries. Kroft was limited in 3 of 4 seasons due to multiple injuries, so much so that the Bengals chose not to re-sign him despite a huge need at TE for them. It's not run-of-the-mill stuff, its potentially injury-prone players. I'm not trying to be negative. As I said, I love the signings, and I get why Beane strikes in FA the way he does. I'm just saying I hope the Bills medical staff is right on their evaluations of these players. Simple. -

Bills betting on the acumen of their medical staff

Kevin Johnson Mitch Morse Tyler Kroft Spencer Long The above players have all battled through injuries and missed games the past few seasons. Even Frank Gore, at 36, is a bit of a medical risk. It's clear to me that one of the ways in which Beane finds value in free agency is to sign players coming off injuries. Heck, one of the biggest reasons players even make it to free agency to BEGIN with is medical struggles. With this approach, though, comes the chance that not every signing can remain healthy. Witness the Bills tenures of EJ and Philip Gaines, for instance. Let me say this, lest I be accused of anything less than cautious optimism: I LOVE what the Bills have done so far this offseason. Love it. I think they've improved the team tremendously and found great value. That being said, it is imperative that the Bills medical staff has done their homework, and that their opinions of the medical prognoses for these individuals is on point. Luckily, they seem to be front-loading most of these contracts, such that if any of the players CAN'T stay healthy, the Bills can get out of their contracts pretty easily in year 2 or 3. Nevertheless, with the monetary bargain of oft-injured players comes also the risk that they will remain, well...oft-injured. Time will tell on this one. -
Feels like we will get one of the top TEs in draft now...
Logic replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm thinking they're looking at a pass-catching tight end in round 2-4, rather than a Hockenson or Fant level guy in round 1. -
Nsekhe not only provides the Bills a quality lineman, it gives them great flexibility in the draft. He can play well at LT, RT, and both guard spots. If they draft starting level guys, he'll be an elite backup. If they don't, he can be a more than capable starter for a couple years. Win-win. You can't find a soul out there with a bad thing to say about this dude's play on the field. Redskins fans and writers love him and didn't want to lose him. The analytics crowd call him better than half the starting tackles in the NFL. Love it.

WR Cole Beasley (Dallas) to the Bills
Logic replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like Cover 1 said on Twitter: Beasley runs such sick routes that he always gets the iso camera replay after every reception. And like Dak Prescott said: he's always open! PERFECT underneath security blanket for Allen. A guy who can take advantage of all the space underneath created by Foster and Brown running deep and Allen's arm. Love it. -

Wr signings vote of confidence for Foster and Zay?
Logic replied to BruceVilanch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it shows they DO have faith in Foster and Jones, AND that they wanted to add some veteran presence. JUST adding rookies to an already young WR room wouldn't have been the best move for a young QB.
