This will pitch the “jersey numbers determine career outcomes” club into existential crisis.
-
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/21/nfl-passes-expanded-jersey-number-rule/ Get ready for jersey numbers to look different. NFL owners approved a rule proposal today that dramatically expands which positions are eligible to wear which numbers. Now jerseys with numbers in the single digits can be worn by defensive backs, linebackers, running backs, fullbacks, tight ends, H-backs and wide receivers. Defensive backs and linebackers could wear any number from 1 to 49, while running backs, fullbacks, tight ends, H-backs and wide receivers can all wear 1 to 49 and 80 to 89. Quarterbacks, punters and kickers will still be required to wear numbers 1 to 19, linemen will still wear 50 to 79, and defensive linemen and linebackers could also wear 90 to 99. Several NFL players have indicated that they’ll consider changing their jersey numbers this season.

I'm sure the resident TBD draft experts will weigh in, but I, for one, absolutely believe he would be a great fit for the Bills and a real asset to our defense. As you stated, he has positional versatility, and can play a traditional safety role or capably take snaps as a big nickel/slot defender. He has even shown skill as a punt returner. Prior to opting out of the 2020 season, he was a turnover machine at Oregon. NFL.com lists his player comp as Jordan Poyer. The only problem with Holland is that I believe 30 is too high to pick him, and he won't still be on the board at 61. He seems to fall in that 35-55 range. Unless the Bills trade back, I don't see how they can draft him. Furthermore, with Poyer and Hyde having both recently been extended, I'm not sure they'd view at as a worthy use of resources. I like the player a lot, though.

Gotta love someone who levels an accusation of “idiotic post” and then says the nonsense above. You bought Trump’s Big Lie (which has been refuted by, oh , I dunno, ANYONE with a shred of credibility) hook, line, and sinker and you’re accusing ME of idiocy? That’s rich. 😂

I don’t want to hijack this thread. There’s already a thread about this. Suffice it to say: you’re ignoring and/or conveniently failing to mention a few very key points, and you’re absolutely a perfect example of those who fail to acknowledge the serious reality of what occurred that day. Feel free to PM me or take this up in the 1/6 thread.

Keep proving my point.

Define “creeps”.

Case in point, re: minimizing/downplaying. 10,000 bonus points for “horsecockery”. By the way, in looking back over your posts in the 1/06 panel thread and others, I see that I was off base in my statements about what you’ve said on that matter in this forum. There ARE some folks on here who regularly seek to insinuate that the Capitol storming was no big deal, or who seek to otherwise minimize or dismiss it. FireChans just did it a few posts ago in this very thread, for instance. I wrongly lumped you in with them. I apologize. It was an inaccurate and poorly researched characterization on my part. I am sorry. As to the Rite-Aid smashing:I do think there is some merit to the idea that “rioting is the language of the oppressed”, and that there are instances where it is defensible. Not all instances, admittedly. I certainly don’t condone the destruction of locally owned businesses, in any case. While I myself have not ever participated in property destruction as a form of protest, I also recognize that I do not belong to a historically oppressed parcel of society. I recognize also that, in the heat of the moment and in an act of crying out at repeated injustice when no other act seems to make their voices heard, people could find themselves engaged in such activities. I accept, though, that we will have to agree to disagree about the appropriateness of property destruction as a means of protest, and I don’t mean to hijack this thread in that direction.

@B-Man Has posted quite a few things downplaying it, while simultaneously frequently expressing his outrage at "liberal protests". He's not the only one. side note: I can't believe Pelosi actually said this *****. 🙄

I don't know who needs to hear this, but it's not normal for police to commit extra-judicial murder. The fact that extra-judicial murder by police officers is so normalized is scarier than the fact that people sometimes destroy property in order to protest it. I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you normalize, defend, and minimize the storming of our capitol and murdering of capitol police by right wing mobs in a seditionist effort to overthrow a free and fair election, but get angry and upset about Rite Aid's windows being smashed, you're a monstrous hypocrite.

*Brandon Beane Draft Presser LIVE @ 1:00 PM EST, 4/20/21*
Logic replied to ExWNYer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Beane just said in his press conference that he doesn't expect the cap to go up by a huge amount next year. That's what I'm referring to. Also, I believe the TV money doesn't kick in until 2023. -

I feel there's a decent chance that the 30th pick ends up being at a position that may have Bills fans scratching their heads a bit, as it's not the most immediate "need" and may already have good veterans at that position. Again, though, the cap being lower than expected next year and the upcoming Allen (and Edmunds?) extension(s) will start to make the cutting of good veterans necessary in favor of cheap labor. Mitch Morse, Star Lotulelei, AJ Klein, Mario Addison, Jerry Hughes....some of the older, more expensive vets on this team may see their replacements drafted this year. -

The most telling comment to me is "we're thinking more long term than short term" at pick 30. It would seem to indicate that they're not thinking "who's going to push us over the top in 2021", but rather, "who's gonna help us BEYOND this coming year, once we have to start cutting expensive vets to accommodate Allen's extension and the reduced cap". To me, it opens the door to positions like IOL (Creed Humphrey as a potential long term replacement for Morse), IDL (Barmore or Onwizureke?), a developmental EDGE prospect, even LB. It also doesn't close the door on the already perceived "favorites" at 30, like CB or WR. WR, actually, is a pretty interesting possibility. Sanders is only on a one-year deal and Beasley isn't exactly a spring chicken. -
The one thing I hope we come out of the draft with is...
Logic replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Congrats, Augie! The draft is cool, but your son getting married is cooler! (.....that said, I trust you'll sneak away to check your phone here and there to see who's gonna be a Bill? 😝 ) -
With the 75th pick in the 2021 TSW Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Jabril Cox, LB, LSU Our once promising linebacker duo of Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch was disappointing last year. Furthermore, Vander Esch's college injury woes seem to have followed him to the pros. Having already upgraded our secondary with the additions of Jaycee Horn and Jevon Holland, we now turn our attention to the front seven. With his athleticism and adeptness in zone and man coverage, Jabril Cox will fit in perfectly in new DC Dan Quinn's defense. @section122 And the Baltimore Ravens are now on the clock.

I see linebacker listed as a need for the Lions after WR and CB. If no one has any better ideas, I say give them Cameron McGrone, LB Michigan. Hometown boy. The Draft Network's 43rd ranked player and LB6.

Who's your pick for this years Madden cover?

Aaron Rodgers or Derrick Henry. My money's on Henry. -
Who are the 49er's going to take at 3
Logic replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m just absolutely not buying the Mac Jones thing. No way they gave up that much capital for Jones. It has all the makings of a heavily pumped smokescreen, similar to how many outlets insisted the Dolphins were taking Herbert in the week leading up to draft day last year. Its Fields or Lance. Has to be. -

It’s gonna be Justin Fields. Outside chance that it’s Trey Lance. No chance it’s Mac Jones. -
Why can't Brandon Beane get the defense right?
Logic replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m fine with using pick 61 on a DT. People talk about finding difference makers/playmakers in the 1st two rounds. Well, in my mind, we have three players already on the roster that need to make more plays, that need to take a step and fulfill their potential as playmakers: Oliver, Edmunds, and Epenesa. As such, drafting a facilitator who could help unlock and free up those players is just as good as adding another flashy playmaker. I’m ESPECIALLY ok with taking a 1T at 61 if he also adds some pass rush value, as McNeil seems to. -
Why can't Brandon Beane get the defense right?
Logic replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I understand it, Alim McNeil's college coach is close with Sean McDermott, too. He seems a good fit for the Bills physically and mentally. The third round seems like the sweet spot for a 1T, in any case. -
I was reflecting on the various positions of need for the Bills today, and it occurred to me that the one thing I REALLY hope they come out of the draft with is a quality 1T defensive tackle. We all hope that Star Lotulelei returns at full strength this year and that Harrison Phillips takes a step forward that provides some hope that he can be the long term 1T for the Bills. Hope is not a strategy, however. In my opinion, the Bills direly need to draft a legitimate 1T prospect this year, let him learn the ropes under Star for a year and have a rotational role, and take over the primary spot next year, allowing them to move on from Star next year if they wish. I have seen how much of an effect a good 1T can have on the McDermott defense overall. I have seen how much the LACK of a good 1T has had a noticeably detrimental effect on the defense overall. In order for players like Ed Oliver, AJ Epenesa, Tremaine Edmunds, and Matt Milano -- ie the young core that our defense will likely be built around for the next few years -- to thrive fully, I believe a good 1T is necessary. This does not mean I view it as the biggest need or that I want the Bills to draft one in the first round. It simply means that, when the draft has come and gone, one way or the other, I want the Bills to have acquired a good young tackle prospect. What about you? Complete the sentence: "The one thing I hope we come out of the draft with is...". Elaborate if you wish, or don't. Name specific players if you want, or don't. But limit it to one thing. We all know and can generally agree on the list of Bills needs. I want to know what ONE thing you, specifically, want to make sure the Bills acquire on draft weekend.

Can we talk about actual armed insurrection
Logic replied to Unforgiven's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't remember the #Notmypresident people storming the capitol with zipties, building gallows on the national mall grounds, or trying to kill any congresspeople, no.
