  1. Apparently, Jordan Poyer was getting into it with some fans on Twitter last night. People were saying some, um....unkind things about Rachel. Jordan stepped up to her defense, as any good husband would, I suppose. Things got heated. Rabble rabble rabble.
  2. The popular wisdom is that they're taking a corner or edge rusher in round 1. I'm starting to wonder, though, if it's actually going to be an offensive playmaker in round 1, followed by a corner in round 2. The depth of the corner class leads me to think they can reasonably select a starting caliber corner in round 2 or even round 3. Beane always says that playoff losses show you where you're lacking. Our loss to the Chiefs showed us lacking in coverage and pass rush, sure....but don't tell me Beane didn't notice the elite speed and playmaking capability of the KC offense, too. Whereas the Bills have a great receiving corps as is, what they DON'T have -- either in the WR or RB room -- is an "instant offense" guy like Tyreek Hill or Mecole Hardman.
  3. If you know Matt Miller, you know that he's one of the better voices in the scouting community. He's reasonably well connected, and he puts out good, sane, accurate content year after year. He puts out an annual "what I'm hearing" article as the draft approaches, and it often contains good insight into which way teams are leaning. He has more info about some teams than others, but he shares at least a little something about all 32 teams. The full version of this article is behind a paywall, but a kind soul shared a guest pass with me and I was able to read it. I may just end up subscribing to thedraftscout website anyway, because there's a lot of great content there. https://www.thedraftscout.com/p/matt-millers-scouting-notebook-team Here is what Miller says about the Bills: Buffalo — A playmaker on either side of the ball is the rumor coming out of Buffalo. They’ll play the board and let talented athletes slip to them as always, but a speedy cornerback, yards-after-catch wide receiver or three-down running back would all get a lot of consideration here. That could easily be the first three picks for Buffalo. ...I don't know about the rest of you, but I find that pretty darn interesting. We all know they're looking for a more athletic and well-rounded cornerback, but the RAC receiver and three down running back tidbits -- and the lack of any mention of pass rushers or offensive linemen -- is eyebrow-raising. p.s. Save me the "no one knows anything, it's all a smokescreen, Beane doesn't let his secrets out!" reply. Yes, the Bills run a tight ship. No, it's not impossible for certain well connected people to find out which ways they're leaning. Yes, it could all be a smokescreen -- but I doubt it.
  4. Im actually with you on all those points. I was mostly just pointing out that, according to Bukowski, he can’t seem to find any teams with even a 2nd round grade on Melifonwu, let alone a 1st. Thought that was pretty interesting and surprising.
  5. Because teams have to plan beyond this year. Smart front offices draft for the future, not just the present. As Josh Allen and other young Bills get signed to big contracts, it will become more and more important for the Bills to rely on a pipeline of cheap labor. Less picks = less cheap labor and less swings at players that can help the team.
  6. I'm not sure how to respond without "politics" become involved. I find it sad that vaccination is a "political issue" to begin with. Anyway... I fully support this decision. I echo the sentiment that I hope more businesses do this (once vaccines have been available to everyone who wants them for a requisite amount of time). I'd feel much better about going into a crowded restaurant or movie theater if I knew that everyone inside was vaccinated. If you don't want to get vaccinated against the highly contagious and potentially deadly disease, and thus, want to continue to be a potential carrier and spreader of the disease, then fine, don't get the vaccine. That's your right as an American. But understand that there's no reason private businesses should have to let you through the door and into close proximity with the rest of their vaccinated, non COVID-spreading customers. I do have one question: If everyone in attendance is vaccinated, will masks still be mandated in the stadium?
  7. I don't think Carrie signing would affect draft plans, other than making it so that corner isn't a crying need. Beane seems to sign a low cost veteran cornerback every single year, often late in the offseason. EJ Gaines Vontae Davis Kevin Johnson Josh Norman In any case, it's nice to have a GM who fills all "needs" PRIOR to the draft, so that he can truly take the best player available without feeling the pressure to absolutely HAVE to fill certain positions.
  8. 1.) I've been figuring that CB would be the one last spot where they would add a veteran before the draft. 2.) I had to type, copy and paste damn fast to beat YOLO to the punch.
  9. Yeah, I mean.... don’t get me started on the table jumping nonsense. It’s nice to be known for being diehard loyal, for having epic tailgates, for being friendly/charitable/neighborly... but being known for drunkenly jumping through flaming tables is dumb. It reduces a truly great fan base to the level of cartoonish debauchery.
  10. The absolutely staggering amount of fall-down, blackout drunkenness I see at Bills games is gross and sad. I’m no shrinking violet. I have a few drinks and a toke before and after the game. I stand up and yell and pound the seats. I realize this isn’t Saturday night at the opera house. But the amount of people who use Bills games as an excuse to drink to ludicrous, craven excess is off the charts. I’ve come across so many people that are too drunk to even follow the game (or who aren’t even looking at the field), starting fights, spilling beer on people, pissing themselves, harassing little kids because they’re wearing the opposing team’s jersey... I’m not just picking on Bills fans here. I’m sure this happens, to some degree, all across the league. But the Bills Mafia’s legendary proclivity for extended tailgating often results in embarrassing levels of inebriation. It’s gross.
  11. Great. Can’t wait to hear where Beane stands on the vaccination issue. 😝
  12. The certainty people sometimes have about draft prospects is wild to me. I respect the analysis and opinions of our resident draft experts, I truly do. But to say with near 100% certainty that a prospect can only play a certain scheme, or that he’ll definitely not be able to stop the run in the pros...I dunno. It’s all forecasting and informed guess work. The same type of forecasting and informed guess work that results in all sorts of unexpected busts and diamonds in the rough. I guess I just don’t see much room for certainty in the draft prognostication game.
  13. Andy Ngo is a serial lying grifter This is known. https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/andy-ngo-right-wing-troll-antifa-877914/ https://www.jacobinmag.com/2019/08/andy-ngo-right-wing-antifa-protest-portland-bigotry https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/7/3/20677645/antifa-portland-andy-ngo-proud-boys
  14. Too much money. We should probably just let his contract expire and then draft another quarterback.
  15. I'm not knocking anybody. Trading IS fun. It's fun to collect more picks in a mock draft. Also, if you're the team trading UP, it's much easier to pull the trigger when it's all just make-believe, when real money and careers aren't on the line. Still, these things always seem to have more trades than happen in real life. Just an observation.
  16. If this mock draft has shown anything so far, it's that football fans feel that trading around in the draft is a whole lot of fun.
  17. I agree. CeeDee Lamb was a good pick and I would have had a hard time turning him down, too. On the other hand, the Cowboys defense was abysmal, and at some point they're going to need to buckle down and add to their defense, even if it means passing on exciting offensive players. You can have all the WR1s you want, but if the opposition can score at will, well...
  18. I was reading Peter King's Football Morning in America column today, which you can read here: 20 QB Decisions shaping This NFL offseason The majority of the article is about the unprecedented musical chairs going on in the NFL this offseason. The opening paragraphs really caught my eye: There has never been an offseason like this one, which sets up a draft the likes of which we’ve never seen. Never has there been such a league-wide gold rush for quarterbacks. Never has the draft gone 1-2-3-4 with quarterbacks at the top. But with the assurance now that the top three picks will be, and the real chance that Atlanta at four could pick a quarterback, we might be witnessing draft history. And I doubt this will be the last time that so many quarterbacks go so high in a draft. “I have never seen quarterbacks get pushed up in the draft the way they’re getting pushed up this year,” said one middle-aged coach whose team is in the market to draft a quarterback this year. “Trevor Lawrence deserves to be the number one pick, but after that, in my book, there’s three receivers, a tight end and two offensive tackles ahead of the next quarterback. But this desperation for quarterbacks . . .” Say no more. A few reasons. “In a league that has veered dramatically toward the passing game and toward three and four-receiver sets, it makes sense the quarterback becomes more in demand,” said Greg Cosell, a maestro at tape study. “You need a really good quarterback to play the game that exists now. It leads to the need, and sometimes the desperation, of trying to find ‘that guy.’ “ Reading about all the QB volatility and the way in which QBs are pushed way up the draft board these days...I couldn't help but be really, really thankful that for the first time in a quarter century, the Bills can watch all the craziness from the sidelines. We've got our guy! It took a bunch of wheeling and dealing by Brandon Beane and a real daring roll of the dice on a gifted but flawed prospect, but we succeeded! We can sit out the annual quarterback sweepstakes! For the first time in my adult, football watching life, the Bills quarterback situation is secure for the present and future (assuming a contract extension, which I view as an inevitability). The offseason sure is a lot more fun when you already have a franchise quarterback! And now, back to chuckling at Jets fans for having to talk themselves into being okay with the fact that they screwed up their chance at Trevor Lawrence 😆
  19. Yeah. There are several articles from Cowboys writers imploring the Cowboys to resist temptation if an exciting offensive player is on the board (Cowboys fans have this pipe dream that Pitts will fall to them, for some reason) and select a cornerback no matter what. I guess that's what happens when Jerry "I love me some gloryhole!" Jones is making your picks 🙄
  20. With the 10th pick in the TSW Mock Draft, The Dallas Cowboys select Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina The Cowboys offense should be good enough to score 30 points a game, but our defense can't stop a nosebleed. Trevon Diggs is established as CB2, but we need an alpha dog in the room. Someone who can follow the opposition's #1 receiver all over the field and lock him down. Horn is that guy. We feel Jaycee is a perfect physical and skillset match for the Cover 3 defense that new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn likes to run. As an added bonus, Quinn is close friends with Horn's college coach, Will Muschamp, and was able to get all the information he needed as to Horn's disposition and intangibles. We feel this is a slam dunk pick of value meeting need. (Side note: There's a lot of smoke lately to the Cowboys liking Horn. It's to the point where Cowboys beat writers can't guarantee that the Boys wouldn't pick Horn over Surtain II if both were available). @TPS and the New York football Giants are now on the clock.
  21. Seems like Gunner might be off for the night and picking in the morning. I pick after him. Being that I'm on pacific time, the draft "re-starts" at 5am my time, so I might not be making my pick too immediately once I'm on the clock. I promise I won't completely Alphadawg everyone, though.
