  1. Practice hasn't happened yet today. The OP is talking about yesterday. How this thread still exists and has the same title, I have no idea.
  2. Amari Cooper makes the most sense from a salary cap perspective. I'm also intrigued by Jalin Hyatt from the Giants. Won the Biletnikoff award as a JR with a 1200 yard season, but has ZERO receiving yards for the Giants right now. They refuse to give him any meaningful snaps. Obviously this one would be more of a low cost reclamation project.
  3. Agreed. A 2 and a 5 and players, plural? Nah. Ridiculous.
  4. I'm just glad there's a thread that's four pages and counting (rightly) criticizing Allen's play on Sunday. Josh has become almost saintly to many Bills fans, to the point that any criticism of him is strictly verboten. It's ridiculous. He's an elite quarterback who may end up in the Hall of Fame. He sometimes has bad games and makes boneheaded decisions. Both things can be true. Oftentimes -- as is always the case in football -- there is blame to go around. But all too often, people want to pretend like Josh bears none of it, and many times, that's simply not the case.
  5. This thread title is misleading because it makes it sound like these guys are not practicing TODAY, and that's not the case. Practice hasn't happened yet. This guy is talking about yesterday's practice. Please change thread title or make OP more clear so that people don't get misled. Luckily, practice hasn't happened yet today.
  6. I have a feeling the Raiders are currently holding firm on wanting to offload his entire salary and to receive a 2nd round pick, and that Beane has told them "good luck with that. If you decide you're willing to eat some salary, give us a call" In other words, at the current asking price, the Bills aren't interested. If the asking price changes (and/or an agreement regarding salary considerations is made), then they're interested. Ball is in the Raiders' court.
  7. To add to all of this: In the years prior to McDermott's arrival, the Bills were a mess with injuries. The staff did a deep dive into the matter because it was concerning to them and something they wanted to change. They hired an entirely new strength and conditioning staff and built a state of the art athletic training and rehabilitation facility. For a year or two, the Bills had really great injury luck. Then, over the past few seasons...not so much. I don't think there's any kind of reasoning or deeper meaning to it. It's a freak thing. Look at some of the biggest player losses to injury we've had in recent years: Von Miller tore an ACL on turf. Tre White tore an ACL on turf. Matt Milano's leg buckled in a pile, then he tore a bicep hitting a sled in practice. Terrel Bernard tore/strained a pec on a routine tackle attempt in-game. Not only do I not think that a wholesale replacement of the training staff would change anything, but -- like @Malazan -- I'd love to know who the new and improved, superior training staff is out there that's just waiting to be hired by the Bills. ***** happens. Injuries suck. Not everything is controllable.
  8. I agree with this. Because his blocking isn't great at the moment and they haven't used him in the pass game at all, the second he checks into the game, it telegraphs "run" to the opposing defense. I'd like to see what he could do when actually featured in the passing game as well. He caught the most touchdowns in the SEC last year of any running back in over 20 years. Using him in that way at least OCCASIONALLY wouldn't allow defenses to automatically know that it's a run play the second Davis checks in.
  9. The Bills were 6th in PPG in 2023. The Bills were 2nd in PPG in 2022. The Bills were 3rd in PPG in 2021. The Bills were 2nd in PPG in 2020. The Bills are currently 3rd in PPG in 2024. Yes, I realize this ranking is based off our great first three weeks, and that if we continue at this current offensive pace, we're likely to plummet in the rankings. Still, it's important to point out the actual facts, which show that the Bills -- as of this moment -- are a top six scoring team for the fifth consecutive year.
  10. Yes, because I think RBs are generally more replaceable than WRs. I think the drop-off in talent from Cook to Davis is likely less than the dropoff in talent from Samuel to Shavers or Hamler. Furthermore, the Bills' misutilization/underutilization of Samuel to this point is not, in my opinion, reflective of his skill level as a wide receiver. Whereas our depth at running back is such that we'd likely be okay for a game or two without Cook, our (lack of) depth at WR is so dire that any losses there present a bigger problem.
  11. While I agree that it's unlikely (because Mark Davis is a cheapskate and because the Jets and/or Saints may be willing to make the deal without the salary demand), I think the words "never" and "no way" are probably too strong. As it is, once interested teams like the Chiefs and Ravens have dropped out. For the Bills to be considered "still in it", there must be a least a small chance. But again, I do agree it's unlikely.
  12. Raiders agree to pay Adams' 2024 salary. Bills send a 2025 2nd and MVS. Where do I sign up?
  13. To be fair, Cook isn't exactly filet mignon when it comes to blitz pickup. Better than Davis? Almost certainly, if for no other reason than being more experienced. But...still not great. Wouldn't surprise me to see Ty Johnson ultimately get more play than Davis.
  14. Honestly, of all the players we could be missing due to injury, Cook is the one I feel is MOST replaceable. I like both Ray Davis and Ty Johnson and would be excited to see what they could do if given more of a workload. I'd certainly rather be missing Cook than, say, Shakir, Samuel, Oliver, etc.
  15. After Cole's mental lapses against the Texans, I assume Rapp will be back in the lineup. Hamlin will continue to start at free safety and has been better than people generally give him credit for. He's not an upper echelon player, and he's obviously a step down from prime Hyde and Poyer, but...he's been playing NFL starter level ball and is not the liability people think he is. Go ahead and roast me.
  16. 100% The one thing I'd say is that the playoffs are many weeks away, and this was always going to be a young team going through growing pains and transformation early in the year. Obviously if things don't improve considerably on offense, playoffs won't even be a consideration anyway.
  17. We'll never know for sure, but I'd be willing to be that one of our two 2025 2nds could have gotten us up high enough to draft BTJ. Then we still could've had Bishop. It seems to me like Beane never seriously considered any kind of move-up this year, because he felt he was entering a reset/rebuild period where he didn't want to give up any significant capital to move up. It's a shame, because Brian Thomas looks to be an AJ Green level player, and his presence seems like it would tangibly elevate our offense. Coleman has shown flashes, and I'm not writing off the idea that he can be a good player for us, but Thomas ALREADY looks like an elite NFL receiver, and I'd bet my bottom dollar that he winds up having a more impactful and impressive NFL career than Keon.
  18. Too early in the week to say definitively which of those mean anything. Unless something new popped up for Cook and Samuel, I'm guessing those are more rest/caution type things. Rapp being cleared is good. If Shakir is out again, it's gonna be tough sledding on offense.
  19. Personally, I believe Beane is ready to send a 2nd rounder IF the Raiders eat Adams' salary for this year. I also believe that the Raiders have no intention of eating his salary this year, primarily because it seems like they don't have to. It feels to me like if the choice is between receiving a 3rd rounder and getting his salary off the books or receiving a 2nd and 5th rounder but having to eat his salary this year, the Raiders will choose the former. Mark Davis has -- to put it in polite terms -- a history of frugality.
  20. Yes. I get that part of it. But based on the report below, Carr could miss several weeks, and the Saints are ALREADY just 2-3 and in a tough division. By the time Carr comes back, the Saints could be out of it. So unless Adams is already thinking about next year or doesn't view winning a championship as a priority, it still seems like a weird move.
  21. The weird part about the Saints supposedly being the favorites is that it was just reported that Derek Carr is likely to miss multiple weeks with an oblique injury. This would be the second time that Adams gets traded to a team to play with Derek Carr and then doesn't actually really get to play with him. Sometimes I find player priorities so confusing. The Jets I kind of understand because they're a game out of first and have the man at QB with whom Adams has had the most success in his career. But the SAINTS? Why would Adams want to catch passes for Jake Haener or Spencer Rattler for four weeks while the Saints struggle to hover around .500? It's just strange.
  22. The genitals of upcoming Raiders foes all rejoice in unison.
  23. Holy straw man, Batman. I have no interest in continuing to argue against things that you just made up out of whole cloth. Have a nice night.
  24. The discussion at hand is about how sometimes the type of defensive strategies that are being employed in the NFL right now dictate that the intelligent and effective thing to do is to dink and dunk, because that's what the defense is giving you. The graphic I posted is meant to show that the bills are not some crazy idiots that are forcing poor big-armed Josh Allen into a shorter passing game -- opposing defenses are often doing that with the way they defend the Bills offense. That even the great Mahomes consistently posts spray charts showing tons of short passing, and that his average depth of throw has been getting shorter year by year. If you want to post random graphics that aren't really relevant to the discussion at hand, though, be my guest.
