The likely reasons for his release, in approximate order of likelihood: 5. Was neither humble nor hungry 4. Was no longer comprised of iron, and thus unable to sharpen other iron 3. Did not display a growth mindset 2. Was not doing his one eleventh 1. Did not respect the process

Do ANY of us exist? Or are all apparent forms and faces merely the temporary, impermanent, spontaneous, ecstatic, undulating dance of of the eternal one? The cosmic play and constant change of the changeless one, empty of any self-essence or inherent reality. Are you really who you think you are? Is it possible that form, sensation, perception, cognition, and mental formations are illusory? Are you anything more than one locust of awareness representing a single, infinitesimal portion of a vast, formless suchness that pervades -- nay, comprises -- all that is? Are you wave, particle, both, or neither? But yes, AJ Epenesa does need to get better.

Paging Bobby Babich...

Yeah. Strange. I wonder if there's some behavioral or work ethic thing behind it. Doesn't "fit the process" or something. Talent wise, and at a position without a dynamo on the depth chart, it's an odd release.

Bills fan favorite Antonio Williams has been cut from the practice squad. Interesting.

Not sure if the U.S. Virgin Islands would work for you, since you said the wife hates heat. I used to live on the tiny island of St John, and greater beauty you have never seen. It stays pretty temperate (for the tropics) in the Winter, with an average in the upper 70s and the trade winds blowing. Since it's a U.S. territory, you don't need a passport to go there. It's just the same as flying into any other U.S. state. Just fly into St Thomas and take the ferry over, and you're in. I'd check the state of things there with regard to COVID before buying tickets, but assuming they're not out of control, it's a lovely place for a vacation.

Caffeine - America’s #1 addiction - what’s your source?
Logic replied to BuffaloBill's topic in Off the Wall
Agreed. The only thing is that there has been a bit of a learning curve with the pour-over method. It's really easy to make a decent cup of coffee, but it takes a little finesse to make a GREAT cup of coffee. Now that I've learned some tips and tricks, there's no better method in the world for making a perfect cup. -

1-2 cups of black coffee every morning, preferably freshly ground and made via french press or pour-over method. -
The certainty of pass can be mitigated by the lack of depth most teams have defensively. In other words, is your 4th or 5th corner going to be able to cover his man effectively? 5-wide can also be effective if you have a QB who can run the way Allen does. I'm not saying it should be used all the time or anything, and obviously it hasn't been our most effective offense this year. It can be highly effective in small doses, though, imo.

With Beasley and Davis back in the lineup this weekend, it will be interesting to see how the snaps are divided up amongst the receivers. First things first: Davis should be WR2 and should out-snap Sanders. That much is clear to me. In the slot, things are a little more interesting. McKenzie seems to be the clearly superior option in terms of gaining separation in man coverage. Beasley is still the go-to guy in terms of finding soft spots in zone. Perhaps the degree to which each guy is used can and should be determined by the way that the opposing defense is playing us in a given week. If they're gonna go man-free, let McKenzie eat. If it's the two-high zone that teams were hammering us with, put Beasley in. Meanwhile, Sanders is another interesting option to take snaps in the slot. He might be the best of both worlds, with regard to his ability to beat both man and zone coverage. Obviously, having too many WRs and having to figure out how to feed them all is a good problem to have.

I was quite surprised by this statistic and wanted to share it with all of you. And to think, some were ready to move on from coach McDermott earlier this season.

I feel like a more simple way to say this is that as long as the Bills win one of their two remaining games, there's a 97% chance they make the playoffs, according to fivethirtyeight.com playoff caluclator. So yes, technically they could miss the playoffs if they lose one of the next two. It would, however, be extremely statistically unlikely.

Did Josh Allen go rogue on the 4th and 1 run.
Logic replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall
Actually, I was wondering something different about the play. I saw that Diggs basically didn't even try to block the corner that was defending him. He did, however, turn around and make himself available for a shovel pass. Seeing the 11 yard pass that Allen DID complete to Diggs on 3rd down in this game as well as the rollout shovel pass to Knox that sealed the game, it made me wonder if the play design was not only for Josh to roll out left, but for Diggs to be available as a "break glass in case of emergency" outlet receiver for the shovel pass. Hmmm... -
I see some fear of the Colts in this thread, and I just wanted to say that I am fully NOT on that train. It's not that I think they're bad or that I lack respect for them. Obviously they whooped our butts this season. HOWEVER... I do not think they'd whoop our butts again. I think this Bills roster would be supremely motivated to go out and avenge that awful showing. I also think our team is playing a COMPLETELY different level of football than they were at that time. I'd rank my preferred playoff opponents thusly (from easiest to most difficult): 1. Raiders 2. Dolphins 3. Ravens 4. Chargers 5. Colts 6. Patriots (Belichick in the playoffs is never something I actively WANT to see) 7. Bengals 8. Titans 9. Chiefs

This is what they are saying in New England Land
Logic replied to DefenseWins's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep. As another famous Pats fan -- Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports -- said yesterday: "I hate the Bills for the first time in 20 years". We have been the little brother they've (easily) bullied for two decades. I don't blame them for thinking that the bullying would continue indefinitely. The problem is, we have Josh Allen and they don't. Now THEY get to see what it's like to go against an elite QB twice a year for the forseeable future. I hope they enjoy it exactly as much as Bills fans enjoyed the past 20 years of this rivalry. -

I don't have a link, but listening to Bill Simmons (long time diehard Pats fan)'s podcast right now is fun. Sweet, sweet New England tears. -

I didn’t see this posted yet. It’s the greatest 90 seconds of audio I’ve ever heard in my life. ”He has a rag ahm!” ”The division runs through Buffalo for the next 20 years. Not us. It’s ova!”- 173 replies

This x10000. When I saw all the jawing this team did after yesterday's win, I did a bit of a facepalm. Josh yelling "who the ***** did they think I was?!" and Poyer talking smack to Jerry Sullivan. All of that nonsense. Stay humble and stay hungry, boys. I agree that when this team is supremely motivated -- as they were against KC and NE part 2 -- they are nearly unbeatable. But they also seem to have the faintest whiff of "reading their own press clippings" this season. It's partially what I think has led to some of their bad games this year and their disappointing record overall, relative to expectations. If this season has showed us anything it's that any team can beat any other team on any given Sunday. Add COVID into the mix and the aforementioned possibility of over-confidence, and I don't know how people can't be at least a LITTLE nervous about the remaining two games. If we go out and lose to Atlanta or the Jets, then yesterday's win meant nothing, and New England can still win the division. Stay humble, stay hungry.

Defense: let’s grade and comment your grade

A or A+ aren't even an option? What an asinine LAMP post this is. -
I'm only able to read the opening section of this article, as the rest of the breakdown is behind a paywall. Still, the title and the opening bits alone are worth sharing. My favorite bits are bolded. https://www.golongtd.com/p/the-bills-have-josh-allen-the-patriots "There’s justifiable hesitancy any time any team jacks up the quarterback market. Too many franchises suffer from buyer’s remorse a few months into breaking the bank. Then, there’s Josh Allen. The $258 million contract the Buffalo Bills handed their long-lost savior felt like armed robbery on Sunday. Given the lost bodies, the stakes, the pressure and the presence of the greatest coach ever on the other sideline, this was Allen’s finest performance to date. The Bills’ 33-21 win over the New England Patriots felt like a true flip of the script. For two decades, the Patriots delivered this exact same message to all of Western New York: Our quarterback is better than yours. Foxborough is where the Bills’ dreams have gone to die every December. But not with Allen. Not with possibly the best quarterback in the sport. Every excuse was neatly lined up into this colossal AFC East rematch and all Allen did was throw the Bills on his back and make anything seem possible. No Cole Beasley and no Gabriel Davis? Fine. All Isaiah McKenzie did was have the game of his life. The offensive line was mashed up again and then lost starting guard Ike Boettger to a torn Achilles? No sweat. Allen baited one, two, three rushers at a time before flicking first downs across his body. A run defense that’s been gashed for a good month was without defensive tackle Star Lotulelei due to personal reasons and mostly gashed again. Big whoop. It did not matter. And it’s taken four years but maybe, just maybe, Allen was able to rewire how his head coach manages a game, too. There was no punting at midfield this day. Hell, the Bills didn’t need to punt at all. Sean McDermott finally coached like he had an MVP candidate at quarterback with his foot firmly on the accelerator. And this is the effect the best players in the sport have. They affect everyone and everything. Allen is more than capable of throwing the Bills on his back and taking them as far as he pleases. We know Patrick Mahomes can do this. Maybe Jonathan Taylor can. Maybe Derrick Henry can, too, if he returns. The list of such singular forces of nature in the AFC likely ends there. On Sunday, Allen completed 30 of 47 passes for 314 yards and rushed for another 64 yards. He threw three touchdowns, was not sacked once and did not throw an interception. This wasn’t against the Texans, the Jets or the Washington Football Team. This offense imposed its will on a defense surrendering an NFL-low 16.2 points per game into this weekend. If not for two drops in the end zone, the Bills would’ve hung 40 on Bill Belichick’s defense. Which is remarkable. Most of this season, New England’s patriarch has penned brilliant gameplans for the best quarterbacks in the game — he made Tom Brady look ordinary, remember. And in the biggest game of the season, the greatest coach ever had approximately zero answers for Allen. That’s why Allen’s performance this day cannot be illustrated in numbers. This is the game that should have bubbled all of the 2018 ugliness to the surface. Belichick should have confused Allen on the back end with a variety of zone coverages, pressured him up front with Buffalo’s line decimated and — again — kicked the Bills to the curb. Instead, again and again, Allen was the chief demoralizer..."

Peter King Football Morning in America - Josh Allen edition
Logic replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just wanted to bump this and say that anyone who hasn't read at least the Bills section of this article yet should do so. Good reading! -
I said this in another thread, but I thought today was Josh's best game as a pro. Given the surrounding roster circumstances, the stakes of the game, and the quality of the opponent and opposing head coach...the win was huge. The WAY he won was huge. He made the right decision on almost every play. He played a complete, mature, intelligent, composed, poised game. He's had flashier games, but in terms of being the consummate field general, I don't think he's ever been better. Today wasn't the most EXCITING he's ever been, but I think it's the BEST he's ever been. Like you said, it was winning football. Health permitting, Josh Allen is going to have a bronze bust in Canton one day.

12/26/21 Week 16 Gameday Bills @ Patriots* Postgame Thread
Logic replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
This may be a controversial opinion, but... Given the stakes of today's game, the surrounding roster circumstances, and the opponent...I thought today was Allen's best game as a pro. He seemed to make the correct decision on almost every play. When the Pats dropped defenders deep, he checked it down. When they finally squatted on the short stuff, he hit them medium and deep. When his protection held up, he stayed in the pocket. When it broke down, he ran for positive yards or rolled out and found an open receiver. He played within the structure of the offense and the gameplan. He took what the defense gave him ALL. GAME. LONG. Yes, he had two passes that could and maybe should have been picked. Other than those two passes, he had just about a perfect game. The Pats defenders even said in the post-game pressers that he just beat whatever they were throwing at him all game long. Mind you: This was against the number one defense in the league, arguably the best defensive mind and head coach of all time, in their house, for the division. Zero punts. 33 points. Domination. Best game as a pro. I'm sticking with it.- 506 replies
