Hopefully this doesn’t upset fans, but your entire breakdown just brought back how I used to recall Jake Locker. I liked how Pennington summed it up way better than I did. ”De-Athletle” Josh. It will help you grow from being a good player into a good quarterback. thats all the peopel who say Allen needs to run less were trying to say
-
But...if they aren’t playing for this year...then why not experiment? we know he can run and we know he can throw on the run. these four games work on what you don’t do so well or on areas that are uncomfortable. ie...staying in the pocket. if you let him be Josh Allen...then your a parent who is basically just caving to a crying baby to get them to stop crying. Better to sit back there in the pocket and toss 45 balls for 300 yards and maybe 2-3 Tds and 2-3 ints. When your 4-8.

I went hard yesterday saying Allen needs to Run a lot less. frankly i would prefer they approach the next four games as more opportunities to experiment and learn than a win at all cost approach. if that means Allen stays in the pocket and attempts different types of throws based on his analysis of the defense...I will take that over a immediate scramble for a first down.

It’s funny you say that. I blurted out while talking to a friend discussing how teams would play Allen. “Make him a Quarterback”. Then I recalled, that’s exactly what defenses said about Taylor in 2017. just watching the replay of yesterday, Allen is much more dangerous running OR when the play either breaks down/he bails early. So he’s dangerously efficient when he turns the play into a school yard or jail break scenarios. but you keep Allen in the pocket and...you have the miss down the sideline, or missing Jones in the end zone, or the interception or the missed bomb. Allen’s scouting report of his issues begins to ring true when he stays and throws from the pocket.

SNF: Chargers at Steelers
RalphWilson'sNewWar replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I recall one. San Diego went into Denver on a Thursday night in 2013. It was 30 some degrees. That’s why I recall it. It was night cold game in Mile High against Manning. it might also have been a game that eliminated buffalo from wild card contention. -
Green Bay Packers: HC Mike McCarthy fired
RalphWilson'sNewWar replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would it be a concern if McCarthy teamed with Sam Darnold and as Head Coach/Offensive Coordiantor in 2019? -
His running IS a weapon. I agree. But it’s not being purposefully weaponzied. His running is more of a parachute/fail-safe device. these are scrambled on busted plays, not designed read option or QB Sneaks. His runs today were the result of the offense failing to execute the designed playcall of a pass. Now we need to see the tape to figure out why the passing plays aren’t being executed? - QB not properly identifying the defense pre-snap? - QB getting confused by defense? - Offensive Line breakdowns? - Wide Receiver lack of talent? - Combination? these next four games I would prefer he experiment more with his arm than worries about beating the jets 16-13.
-
Only issue I have is none of these runs are designed. They are not part of Dabols Offense. So on these runs...The Bills are not executing the offfense game plan. either Allen can’t see the field or is refusing to throw or other areas are failing. every time he runs...the play has failed. He’s had over 200 rushing yards in 2 weeks. That’s ALOT of broken/failed plays.

It’s a cousin to the philosophy of Tanking for the better draft pick. A step back in the present for greater gains in the future.
-
Do Taylor and Allen both sacrifice throwing in favor of running? That’s all I’m saying. allen needs to move beyond the running. It’s only slowing him down and making evaluating him take longer. if he’s not going to stand and Deleiver then it will never get to the level it could go.
-
It might seem moronic. sacraficing the present for the future usually does.
-
I need Josh Allen to evolve into something better as soon as possible you bet. we traded up for a QB with many question marks and I want him to work on his throwing. These next four games instead of running. didnt draft him for running. and you took Tyrod running for a billion 1st downs instead of throwing...where’d that get anyone?
-
Didn’t trade up for a Running Quarterback. Stand in the pocket and deliver. And in these next four games try some throws. Rather punt while experimenting than immediately running for a first down.
-
It’s just slowing down the process and taking away the time he needs to analyze a defense, stand in the pocket and deliver the surgeon like throws that you need to win in this league at a Prime Time level. he can keep on running. He’s good at it. But it’s just a bandage on the wound, it is slowing him down. but if he wants to go platinum in this league and sit at the top dog table...he will use these four games to stand in the pocket and try some things. Try to use his brain. Chess match it up Mr. Allen. I’d rather him try some throws on 3rd and middle yardage and punt then have him scramble for the first down.
-
Allen’s success won’t START until the running STOPS. its fools good. dont fall for it. he gets the BOTD because he is a Rookie. but his true success won’t START until the running STOPS.

I think my opinion on Qb/Coaches has changed or intensified in light of seeing how Jeff Fisher and John Fox nearly destroyed Jared Goff and Mitch Trubisky. now I simply wonder how many other young men who poured everything into it, showed up in the nfl only to be destroyed by Head Coaches whose times had passed. How many are out there? if some of that anger spilled out with Baker...so be it.

Not a problem with it at all. 1.) He’s the leader/face of a historically awful organization who is trying to set a new tone and change the culture. You all should appreciate culture change. Like Brady said, when you win in this league you to get say what you want. 2.) Very Jordan-Esq. Creating enemies/generating that little extra motivation out of nothing. It’s assassin like and if concocting slights, insults or whatever motivation against an opponent ends in the stat line and outcome for the Browns like it did against the Bengals...I’d say have Baker do it every week. 3.) He’s a YounG QB with his whole future ahead of him. The 1st Overall pick who almost had it all destroyed by a dinasour of Coach who was costing the team wins and pushing Baker toward the Bust Label. Baker didn’t work so hard simply to show up in the nfl to be Jeff Fishered by another past their prime Head Coach. It’s upsetting. 4.) He’s also in the Branding business trying to create a Marketing Identity for the Baker Brand. First he wakes up feeling “Dan6erous”. Now he’s a bad boy putting ex-coaches on blast. nothing wrong here.

In Buffalo...you’ve watched the Bills for basically these reasons. - Fear of them moving - Nostalgia/Born into you - Beer/Friends Party very rarely is the reason to watch and/or go to the game for Quality Exicting Entertainment. It’s more Obligation to go because when you were 7 your dad took you to your first game and yeah we all have that story. but game like last night. Are the type or games that actually justify you to go that aren’t related to some deeply ingrained Social Regional responsibility of being a WNYer. And frankly I am disappointed to see Bills fans want to poo poo the MNF Game and its implications for the future. the Bills as a whole have been a garbage franchise. BUT there bright spot, historic spot in the history of the NFL was when they ran the K Gun. A no huddle attack. the K Gun. let me ask...what the defenses historic nickname?

what went down in LA tonight is what fans of all 32 teams deserve as much as possible. On a weekley basis if possible. there is too much competition former attention with streaming services, tickets are expensive and game day experience is blah with all the drunks. You want to keep us? Give us 54-51. Give us nearly 1000 yards passing and 11 Tds from the QBs. Give us the razzle dazzle I know we are keeping our Defensive Guy so its pointless to say it and I like McDermott and maybe we get the Defensive Coach who lands a Franchise QB 50/50 but to the fans of Jets, Browns, Ravens and Arizona...don’t let your owners either speak to anyone on defense. Offense now. Offense forever!

The "Process:" Not Just a McDermott Cliche
RalphWilson'sNewWar replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But saying “the process” works in the short term. As in minutes after a blowout lose and your standing in front of the media. McDermott has been quoted saying, he sees the process, knows they are going the right direction, this is normal in the growth, trust the process. it is an unassailable Defense for the time being.
