Can we be the 2018 bears in 2019?
RalphWilson'sNewWar replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After the 2017 Season ended I turned to my PaPa and said “PaPa...you know who should mimick the LA RAMS model? The Bears. They have a 1st Round QB who is struggling under a Defense Minded Head Coach. They should move on from him...bring in a Younger, Hot Offensive Minded Head Coach and use all their money to build around him.” Who knew?! ? ? ? So I think the Bills can only go so far as to being the next Rams or the next Bears. They can spend like those teams and maybe even make some trades. i don’t think they would be able to land the level of player like Mack in the offseason. And they are in no way going to be bringing in a Hot Offensive Minded Head Coach to hold Allen to a higher level/standard that really you see only more from Offensive Playcalling Head Coaches over their Defensive Minded counterparts. Go check out some Mic’d up footage of the way Nagy talks to Trub before a game/during a game. It’s another level. -
Why in the world would anyone in Buffalo want to see Bengals v Steelers?! We have Josh Allen...Browns/Ravens have Mayfield/Jackson. Not only is it an important. Playoff game but it’s only also only the second time 2 first round QBs from This draft go up against each other. succh a shockingly poor decision by whoever makes those decisions.

The exciting part and maybe the fortunate/unfortunate part for Allen (depends) is the Bar that 2nd Year QBs of this current generation have set for upcoming 2nd year QBs is prettt high but not unreachable. Wentz, Goff, Trubisky, Mahomes all made tremendous leaps in Season 2. It was pretty significant. From completion percentages, yards and touchdowns. AND (barring a KC Upset this Sunday) all four led their squads to division titles in Season 2. Now you are going to have peopel tell you next year “patience”, or “process” or “it takes time”. Hogwash. The league moves fast and Allen should be expected to deliver at least a run at the Diviison title and ample improvement in all statiscal categories mix. if you want to have high standards you need to hold your own team to the level that the rest of the league sets. It can’t be one standard for the league and a lower standard for Buffalo just because you want to feel good about your team. Next season Allen has some big improvements stats wise to accomplish...if he doesn’t take the next step like his contemporaries...then it’s time to start looking again.

I have had the same thought. He doesn’t entirely trust the finesse throw where he has to modulate his 1-100 arm power to say 55 power and would rather take the throw that requires 90-100 power. What did Coach Arians say in the game. Allen needs to learn to play the game at 5-15 yards instead of 30-50 yards? (Something like that.) i alos liked the analogy someone made on this site comparing Allen to a Golfer that loves the Driver and playing long ball. Or the bowler who can whip strikes but is always 50/50 on picking up 1-2 pin spares.

Edited title: Winds of Change for AFC East
RalphWilson'sNewWar replied to BubbaT's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well it is a copy cat league afterall. Isnt that what the NFL is all about? Finding the hot new trend and exploiting it against the teams that haven’t caught on? Was not the Best Era Of Bills Football founded on a Trend? And if you get a few divisional titles, maybe a league MVP and perhaps a few Super Bowl appearances out of the hot trend... Trust me...you don’t hear Rams or Bears fans crying today. And I’m sure the Eagles aren’t giving back the Super Bowl trophy. as for only having a few examples...yes there are only 4-5 examples...but so far...again I like what I’ve seen with the results. -

Maybe the issue here is more with Pat and him feeling like an antiquated relic of the past who didn’t see this trend coming. i mean Pat Kirwans advice to the Rams was, quote, “He needs someone that has the vision of building this thing that he’s done it before successfully,” Kirwan said. “He can go out and hire some kid, for all I know, but my instincts tell me this is a job for someone with credentials, someone that’s been there and done that.” good thing Rams went 180 the opposite direction of Pat Kirwans advice. -

I only base my “hysteria” on results. It’s a results based business after all ?. I have personally seen 2 High Drafted Rookie QBs being driven to their early graves by Defensive Minded coaches only to be saved in their 2nd seasons by 1st Year Offensive Minded Head Coaches. i have also seen very recently, 2 other QBs be driven to consideration of league MVP in their 2nd seasons by their own Offensive Minded Head Coaches. (Wentz and Mahomes). And shoot...since I’m feeling good. Toss in Shanahan and Garrapalo into this mix as well. so Pat Kirwan can call it fools gold all he likes...but the results paint a very different picture. -

I see it complete opposite. That teams with Rookie QBs like Cleveland, Arizona and New York Jets might all be dumping their Defensive Minded Head Coaches to bring in Offensive Minded Head Coaches places them on the current Hot Trend in the NFL and would put them ahead of the teams that do not. you shouldn’t have anything to worry by getting your Rookie QB a better coach in their 2nd season even if that means learning a new play book. If it is a better playbook then they will be better for it. -
EJ Manuel: What went wrong after year 1?
RalphWilson'sNewWar replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Green Bay had all it needed to be a Wild Card team. Seriously, for as bad as it has seemed from the outside...The Packers are just barely going to miss the playoffs. 7-8-1 with a tie against Vikings based on a bogus penalty on Matthews. So 8-8. Then they had a 2 point loss to the Rams, and 3 point loses to Seahawks. Plus a few other 1 score game loses. Rams game was the Montgomery Kickoff Fumble...Seahawks game the Packers defense blew a 14-3 lead. -
EJ Manuel: What went wrong after year 1?

He was a sub 60% completion passer as a rookie who was forced to play to soon. After the first season it was deemed he didn’t have any talent around him so Buffalo in incorrectly traded up for Sammy Watkins thinking that a WR would help his completion percentage. Little did Buffalo realize that the QB makes the Receivers not the other way around. good thing things are no where near that in Buffalo today. ... ... ? ???- 141 replies

- The blowouts - Benching Taylor in Playoff Run - Nathan Peterman - Awful at challenges - Sub .500 Record after 2 Seasons - Defensive Minded Head Coach whose Offenses have averaged 18.9 and 15.1 points per game in 2017 and 2018. Plenty of ammo to pull the trigger on a move if you wanted to. Frankly, I just don’t have the energy for another coach change...but it’s not like Coach McDermott has solidified anything. That is if The Pegulas are at least holding this franchise to a high standard.

We are going to find out right now. Your up. So answer this please. Go back to August. was the person who said McCoy would have a bad stats season....1.) A passionate Bills fan who simply was able to see the eventual problems? 2.) A Fake Bills Fan who just wanted to bash the Bills?
