Tom Brady said learning new playbook is tough
RalphWilson'sNewWar replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did Brady ever have that meeting to give ownership of the Bills back to the Pegulas? i know they had mentioned it. ? -

Definitely harder to in Buffalos case. Considering... Hausch makes that kick in Cleveland it only goes to OT same with Allen hitting the Touchdowns against the Ravens or Patriots only guarantee Overtime. so that’s about 20-30 more plays needed to get buffalo to 13-3. Scoring in those overtime’s and or stopping the opponent from also scoring.

Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams

That needs go bye bye. The narrative needs to be “the whole team runs through Darnold.” Aim for 24-25 points per game and see who can top it. -

Defensive Stars...you can win with them just as easily as lose with them. Football only will come down will Darnold know what to do on 3rd and 7s and make it happen. Jets have a blue chip QB draft pick in his 3rd season with a Offensive minded coach. Goal should be to win 31-24 not 13-7. -
sometimes it really is about when you play and how the schedule shakes out, right? If you keep the W/L results the same and simply give the Bills the Jets Opening 6 (Those first 6 because they both played common opponents) Bills go from starting the season at 5-1 to starting the season at 2-4. What does it all mean in the long run probably not much I still think the bills are a better football team With more talent and better coaching but I think it always goes back to the point of a player saying that their coach doesn’t have the right leader ship when in fact these teams are just so razor thin close about having the same results if not for a half a dozen plays or bounces go the other way. if the Titans kicker can kick does Coach McDermott suddenly not have a good leader ship? And how much of a good leader ship does it play in to the fact that the Titans kicker can’t kick. Stuff like that.

Interesting... Bills/Jets - Split Jets lost to Patriots (x2), Browns, Eagles, Ravens Bills lost to Patriots (x2), Browns, Eagles, Ravens Jets beat Giants, Dolphins, Dallas, Washington, Steelers, AFC WEST OPPONENT Bills beat Giants, Dolphins, Dallas, Washington, Steelers, AFC WEST OPPONENT Buffalo was able to separate over beating Dolphins, Bengals, AFC SOUTH OPPONENT. Jets lost to Dolphins, Bengals, AFC SOUTH OPPONENT.

I agree teams need leaders. Leadership is a component of Sports. BUT leadership does not equate to on field execution. however for some romanticized reason, Positive on field execution that leads to victory is falsely coupled with good leadership. which just isn’t an exact formula. you take the best football coach in the world a great leader, and his quarterback on fourth and two trailing by four points does something stupid and throws an interception suddenly that coach is Not a good leader anymore? The team doesn’t have leader ship? They weren’t focused during the week? That is the type of stuff you hear come Monday from players, media and fans. we just have to try to find a way to give everything in our world a meaning or reason because if we do then we feel we can control it. It makes it less scary. You know? so to lie to yourself and say that leader ship brotherhood wanting it more the will to win by creating these false hoods that these are the things that will lead you to winning it makes you feel if you install those things you have a better chance of winning. It gives you a false sense of control but at least you feel a little bit better. but in the end it’s the quarterback that has the better hand eye coordination and brain functions you can process information faster and decide not to throw that interception and instead check it down to the tight end who is wide open in the middle of the field who walks in for the game-winning touchdown that’s the team that will win. and it won’t have anything to do with leader ship brotherhood the will to win wanting it more...etc.

That’s true. i just get a little eye rolly when sports gets pushed too far into a romanticized area. Using words like leadership or brotherhood or will to win...etc. all that stuff sounds good on Monday or in a quote or a book. but at the end of the day...the team who loses 45-10 also had a guy who stood up in the locker room and gave a heartfelt speech just like the winning team did. its 22guys running into each other and it’s decided by 5-6 plays usually that randomly go one way or the other

Great Leadsrship is fine. A nice sprinkle on top. But if your QB doesn’t hit the WR on 4th and 2...then leadership goes right out the window. many a great “leaders” have been quickly dispatched because their players couldn’t make it happen when it needed to happen on the field. how many times do players say “I love that guy” or “great leader” the day the team releases him? I mean...Coach McDermott is a good leader. But in his first year he isn’t a playoff coach if not for a phantom pass interference in the INDY/Blizzard game and or the Dalton TD pass. Either of those go the other way...his leadership isn’t counting for much in the W/L column

You don’t need to have a relationship with everyone in the building. You don’t need to address problems with the team or speak to the team at half time. You need to have good players that can execute the plays based off a sound game plan on Game Days. Jets don’t have good players...their coaching staff doesn’t develop good game plans. Look at it this way... Change nothing about GASE, except make him a Game Planning/Playcalling genius. No one would say anything You can be aloof and weird if you are great. But when you are not a good coach AND you are aloof and weird...disaster.
