I think Joe Brady will have a good game plan for this one- has probably been working on it for a couple weeks as Denver was our most likely opponent and he already had some Miami stuff. Samuel will get some use as they’ll focus on Cooper. Not a ton, as the scheme will continue the everyone eats philosophy. Allen runs will return to the forefront as they’ve been under wraps the last few weeks and much of the season. My guess is those are reserved mostly for playoffs these days. Should be interesting.

Heard him on GR yesterday. It was a little odd. He said he thinks Buffalo wins, but he doesn’t love the matchup for the Bills and Denver has a shot to pull an upset.

Vegas stadium should be available , or Arizona .

It’s been exactly the issue. How do those drives continue ? The lack of a guy that makes a play when needed - i.e third down. It doesn’t have to be a Josh Allen level player ( there just aren’t many of those) but they don’t have a stud on D that changes a game. Now, Allen is so good that the team could go to the Bowl without that impact defender. If not they need that guy quick. They don’t have a couple seasons to wait on development and see if the guy pans out.

I believe it was 77 seconds , but yeah that was a crazy game. We all sat on our hands for the better part of four quarters The defense couldn’t stop anything that day , then came alive after a blocked kick that Bennett returned for a TD.

Cool. Reinforcement for a potential matchup with the ravens?

I’m not surprised as we’ve seen this before. Fans only have so much $ to spend, and the divisional opponent will probably be a higher profile team than Denver. Many ticket holders are likely financing their tickets by selling the first round. Heck, even during the SB years a wildcard game was a tough sell. The lower prices will likely bring a younger, loud and rowdy crowd and that’s not a bad thing. Forcing a 2 seed to play a WC game has ( mostly) led to this. Isn’t the issue with punts not KO’s Anyway, Denver could kick off short and force BUF to field them if they want to.
-
Hopefully the game doesn’t go in a manner like you described. If it did , however I would be shocked if it didn’t result in big changes. Maybe McD stays, but a major change on the defensive side of the ball. You’re making a huge assumption regarding Pegula and what his thoughts on the matter are. None of us know for sure. Standing pat would be very surprising imo.

Great news. Hope all is well with him and this personal matter.

Not a model for humanity, but a great example of a pro ballplayer who played and played extremely well in a time of personal grief. Anyone who holds any of these guys up as some model of humanity is very misguided.

Thats you, but everyone is different. Look at Favre. We’re human yes, but not all the same.

Amazing. A lack of aggression / risk taking or just dumb luck ? Lack of talent? The disparity is huge.

How many of those fans are there? Probably not a ton - certainly not on this board. How does one show discontent? To whom ? Fans want to see them win a Championship. Badly. -
He can still only cover one WR at any given time
-
With his next team ? No way anyone could possibly say that. Who’s the QB? These things matter a LOT. Just ask Andy.
-
The moniker of the game is rendered somewhat moot because the NFL changed the playoff parameters. Did it take one win to get there or 2 ? I haven’t looked into the history, but calling a 2 seed a wildcard is just a completely new ballgame.

As I said, I don’t love the comparison. There may not be a great one out there at the moment. We’ll see what happens. I also don’t put McD in the same tier on defense as Reid is with offense. Obviously Reid is currently light years past McDermott in terms of legacy. I don’t care that it was during a pandemic at all.

College football is not nearly as level a talent pool as the NFL, so I can’t say it’s apples to apples thing to look at the college playoff. I get the point about quality of competition, but that’s not always as simple as seeding. Would you prefer to face what would have been an 8 seed Cincinnati team and Joe Burrow, or a 5 seed Steelers team with Russell Wilson? Most NFL fans and observers would also agree that having an actual bye week ( not just resting some players in a week 18 game) in the playoffs is a huge deal. Because of this difference , there may not be a perfect comp for what McDermott has done so far. His playoff losses ( barring 2019) have been to what most consider the 2 other elite QBs in the AFC. His defenses have been deserving of criticism for sure.
-
I don’t love the comparison, but the fact that the two seed was traditionally granted a bye week deserves some consideration here. The Bills have had the 2 seed 3 times ( this season a fourth) under McD. Playing an extra playoff game does matter and wasn’t a requirement in the past.
-
This is a better comp, but I’m not sure it’s a perfect one for McD. He’s got a superior QB to McNabb in Josh Allen. Sean’s situation may be unique. He could end up more of a Tony Dungy.
-
Fwiw lower bowl seats are going for fairly low prices on resale sites. That could mean a younger and loud/ rowdy crowd. It could also mean a sizable number of Broncos fans in house.
-
I still believe Allen will win MVP by a solid margin.

Well there’s certainly pressure, as there should be. It comes with expectations, even if this year wasn’t projected to be a great one for the Bills. When you have a superstar at QB, the bar should be high. I don’t care what Aaron Quinn has to say about it, though. He’s entitled to his opinion, but that’s about it. We can’t even say what was / would be a failure and what wouldn’t as we don’t know what hat happened or how. It’s not unreasonable to say that anything less than an AFC title game appearance is an underachievement. Regardless of preseason expectations, the Bills have earned the 2 seed. They will play at home for at least two games if they advance. They should reach the title game and play for the right to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Thanks Dick ! How can we ever forget the Jauronisms ?
-
Correct. Context is important here. Did Big Ben ever defeat Brady to reach a Super Bowl ? I don’t believe he did. Could be wrong, but I don’t remember him doing so. Good luck brings opportunity. Bad luck can bite you in the A$$
-
Sure, but that game was only close due to Bills turnovers.
