  1. Agreed. Not saying defense doesn’t matter, but the game has changed significantly in the last 10-15 years.
  2. So what’s this magic “ formula” ? It appears at first glance to be a QB named Tom Brady , followed by a Roethlisberger , or one with a surname of “ Manning”. Anything else ?
  3. They should’ve just let ‘em pull it and not had a sponsor name on the stadium. Don’t need the $$ anyway.
  4. Just another opinion piece that in the end doesn’t mean squat. Don’t have to be the most “ complete” team - or someone’s idea of it- to win the Super Bowl. But hey, these guys need something to write about this time of year.
  5. Far more fans watch on TV than attend the games. No one wants to watch a 12-9 Bears vs Texans game on TNF. He’s not wrong.
  6. Flexing for crappy TNF makes sense. Either get rid of TNF altogether ( won’t happen) or have flexing so we don’t see DEN vs AZ or whatever.
  7. 1980 to 1995. Watched NFL, NHL and NBA plus NCAA football and some MLB. All were much better than the last 20 years and certainly better than today.
  8. I haven’t thought of the Bills as “young” in awhile - probably since Josh’s second year or so. I’d guess most Bills fans don’t either. Looks like they have a good mix right now, and they’re still firmly in a Super Bowl window.
  9. League officials indicated that it’s going to happen. This was around the time that they were making arrangements for the neutral site AFCC game if the Bills and Chiefs were to advance. First I had heard of it but apparently that’s what the league wants.
  10. It matters, but not the be all end all. You’ve got to find a way to win. They’d better , because I don’t think the Bills will get the number one seed. The East going forward doesn’t look conducive to it. Conversely, the AFC West doesn’t seem to have a team that can give KC a battle. It appears the NFL will be going to a neutral site championship game system soon; that will help.
  11. Looks about right. What’s to be upset about ? First one is obvious, and the second was in the AFC title game. No real argument to be made there.
  12. Yep. He’s been very solid for the Bills, but is one concussion away from an extended absence or even retirement. Time to get a strong replacement candidate ready to go.
  13. Bengals may not be a fluke, but more of a matchup / strategy type thing. The Bills looked outcoached both times. Dig a bit deeper on the Dolphins playoff game though. That game was likely headed to blowout status before some self- inflicted wounds by the offense . The D actually did their job, surrendering few yards for just FG’s on very short fields.
  14. I’d put their past performance mostly on strategy/ coaching than personnel. Last year had injuries in that mix too. Elite offense is the name of the game in todays playoffs; probably more than ever imo.
  15. I concur. The defense is probably good enough. The Super Bowl showed us it doesn’t matter much if you’re the #1 defense anyway ( dubious late penalty flag and all ) You’re not shutting down the best offenses in todays game and need to match score for score. Then it likely comes down to having the ball last - which is where the SB was heading before “ the call” . Even with the Bills favorite status going into last season, most everyone thought it was theirs to win IF they stayed healthy. As you pointed out , that didn’t happen.
  16. Defense was still very good in almost every category last year as well. They slipped a bit in yardage but most metrics stayed remarkably consistent. The pass rush disappeared after Millers injury, though. The offense was still good, but not nearly as reliable down the stretch. Josh’s injury, Dorsey’s rookie struggles and OL were all concerns too. Just seemed too reliant on Josh being Superman regularly to make things happen. Have to admit I get a bit jealous watching Mahomes toss the ball to wide open WRs most of the time ,with some of his patented plays thrown in here and there. That’s probably influenced my opinion on the Bills WR corps, though a lot of it is likely just superior play design by Andy Reid.
  17. I like the addition of Kincaid, and the middle of the field was a huge problem for most of last season on offense. Still, I’d like to see another quality vet WR ; not certain how much we can rely on a rookie TE being the difference. I’d be more confident if Beane can bring a WR but I can see your point here.
  18. Never said you did , ‘stein
  19. I agree with the vast majority of this. Certainly a better explanation than 37 wins over 3 seasons being some kind of mirage. I do think Beane needs to add a legit weapon at WR2 to put the Bills over the top and into the SB. Still have time to do that.
  20. Right? 37 wins over last 3 seasons, second only to KC’s 40. Not much to bridge there , but they do need better defensive strategy/ execution in playoff games. Offense was a no show all the way around in loss to Bengals , Josh’s worst playoff appearance to date.
  21. Wouldn’t be surprised. Actual conservatives / Republicans don’t care enough to “ protest “ such a silly event. Just don’t sexualize children and you can have your idiotic “lifestyle” choices for yourselves.
  22. Exactly … now , that doesn’t mean we think it’s a good idea to have a neo nazi tea and brunch day at the local elementary school. Amazing how this stuff works , no ?
  23. Because they are few and insignificant ,so normal people just ignore them.
