Saturday Football Thread: PIT@BAL & HOU@KC (no Bills stuff please)
Boatdrinks replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Watering down aside, as Bills fans we should hope for this change to happen ASAP. The worst part of the expanded playoffs for the Bills is the elimination of the bye for the 2 seed. This year it appears they will be the 2 yet again. I’d venture the Bills would have reached a Super Bowl with Allen already if they had been awarded the previously standard bye week. -

Not really. It’s great to be able to rest some players and all, but the real benefit of the bye is only having to win one game to reach the AFC title game. It’s just a much easier path to a Super Bowl appearance. -

People may be saying such things, but probably not people that actually have an MVP vote. -
Maybe. Or it removes all doubt about the worthiness of the eventual champion.
-
Actual MVP voters seem to have been leaning strongly toward Allen and his resume built through the last month in particular. I don’t think it’s as close as a meaningless season ender making a huge move in the race. As for Allen sitting, he’ll play as long as seeding is in doubt. After that he may just make a preseason style cameo appearance in a week 18 game.

Clearly he’s fine and will not missing be any time, but there’s no way he’s got a high ankle sprain.

Josh Allen AFC Offensive POW Again (Week 15)!
Boatdrinks replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying every bit of this great Josh Allen era of Bills football. Including any and all accolades that come the way of Bills players. The NFL world’s championship won’t take place until February. So take the wet blanket elsewhere. Bills fans deserve to savor these years after 17 years of NFL irrelevance. -
There has been a growing consensus over the last month that Josh Allen has made his case for MVP. I’m talking about amongst actual MVP voters. The Lions game seems to have cemented that. Sure, there needs to be discussion on talk shows for entertainment value. However, in past years it seems the voters move almost in lockstep with just a few dissenters. This means much more in the end than talk show fodder. Longtime NFL writers such as Armando Salguero have joined in almost universal praise of Allen. This is why I believe Allen has locked in his first MVP award.

Not so much. Power rankings are more of a week to week snapshot than a cumulative season award. Those early losses are far in the rear view.

I think there is a distinction by the NFl with regular season and postseason records.

12/15/24 Week 15 Bills @ Lions Game Post Game Thread
Boatdrinks replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
That non call plus the hilariously bad non DPI call in the end zone on the Bills first drive were enough to raise eyebrows. Probably just flat out incompetence but not so sure. -
To rest or not to rest the starters, that is the question

I’d rather need to win just two games to reach the Super Bowl than to win three. The 2 seed is preferable to 3 though: it does matter. Still a reasonable chance at hosting the AFC title game. -
12/15/24 Week 15 Bills @ Lions Game Post Game Thread

This^ . Few if any have the combination of Josh Allen’s athleticism and what is going on in his headspace - especially when being chased by defenders. He’s a defense destroying cyborg of a football player. -
12/15/24 Week 15 Bills @ Lions Game Post Game Thread

I’ve watched his rollout to his right on the Keon Coleman catch about a dozen times already. Watch the Lions defender try to time up his tackle on Allen- then slide off to the ground as Josh jukes. Ridiculous and has to be a back breaker for a defense. The guy is truly an alien. -
This would not happen. Allen will play as long as playoff seeding is relevant. If it’s not, he’ll sit or more likely be on a pitch count. I don’t think McD is a fan of sitting players. He certainly wouldn’t play Josh extra time for some MVP campaign. I doubt Allen would be interested either. He’s made his statement on the field already.

I’d guess that he sits on Saturday, and all efforts are being made to have him ready vs PIT

While not a prime time start, I think it still will result in more tickets than usual being on the secondary market. This will likely have some downward pressure on prices. The weather forecast will also contribute to this. All well and good, as it should result in a younger and lively crowd - a great atmosphere for another national TV slot.
