Random talking head says something about the Bills
Boatdrinks replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
In reality , that’s not who any defense oriented HC is. They don’t bring in guys with a completely different system or philosophy. It’s just not how it works. This isn’t unique to McDermott as you are making it out to be. If Pegula decides he wants a totally different defense, then he will have to move on from McD. Can’t imagine a play call would have one defender picking off another. I don’t love the drop back stuff but someone screwed the pooch in that coverage. -
Most Bills fans don’t , but you can probably not sweat it. KC remembers Burrow and Co winning AFCCG at Arrowhead a few years back. They’re in position to essentially decide who gets in. They won’t go all out to beat the Broncos and let Cincy in the tournament. If the Broncos puke on their shoes, Miami is in with a win regardless of what the Bengals do. The Steelers would probably like to face Houston in the WC round instead of Baltimore, so they will be motivated too. The Bengals fought back this season, but will most likely be watching the playoffs from the couch.

Yes you are. Totally new defensive system means new players, probably a couple of seasons to put together. New offensive system ( again) with similar requirements most likely. Then top it off with a coordinator who hasn’t proven they can be a decent HC, much less a very good one. Again, the only acceptable option here would be a proven NFL HC, preferably one with a championship ring. If you want a coordinator, make Joe Brady the HC. Anyway, my hope is the Bills reach the AFC title game at a minimum and these changes aren’t necessary in the peak of Josh Allen’s career. -

If the Bills can’t reach the AFCCG or Super Bowl and a HC change is made, it could be concerning though. A popular candidate from fans is Ben Johnson or someone like that. As you mention, there isn’t much of a track record for this type of change. A more logical replacement would be a proven NFL veteran HC. You cited Gruden as an example. When you have a superstar QB and a team that consistently wins 11 or so games a year, turning the keys over to a “ hot coordinator “ is suspect at best. You are trying to extract the final degrees of improvement from a winning team; to win a championship. Starting over is not an option. -
Fortunately neither Kolar or Broussard has a vote. I don’t love some of the names on that list of 50, but I don’t believe nuance is lost on the majority. Particularly the longtime sportswriters.

Only thing I care about schedule wise is not drawing the Monday night time slot in WC round. With the Bills being the 2 seed I doubt they get stuck with that.
-
Most surprising to me is 509 points scored in 16 games. Just wasn’t expecting that at all.
-
This is correct. Last two were 1990 and 1988. Bills made the AFCCG both times, fwiw
-
That’s about it. 13 wins in the bank plus the 2 seed. Aside from Josh keeping his consecutive starts streak alive, this amounts to a bye week.

It would be wild, and somewhat unlikely so that’s why I’d like to see the Bengals miss the postseason.

Great job compiling this. So many references on this board to this game, which has become something of an urban legend. -
Yep. A very “ Chiefs like” schedule.

Bills fans will not decide the fate of McDermott. That decision lies with Terry Pegula. Yes, the conversation is somewhat pointless for that reason. -

I can’t see McDermott with a DC that has a completely different philosophy. Oil and water. The defense we saw yesterday is exactly what the Bills D is ; an erratic defense that gets takeaways. They’re not shutting anyone down in the playoffs outside the WC round. It will be Josh Allen putting on the cape and taking the Bills as far as he can take them. Will it be the AFCCG ? Super Bowl? We’ll have to wait and see. -

The Bills need to make the AFC title game at minimum this postseason. If not, a major change needs to happen. Hopefully T Pegs / Beane understand this. They’re the only ones with opinions that matter. Ideally the Bills get the job done and it’s not necessary. -
When the Commanders benched Cousins and inserted Penix, it was just the tip of the iceberg for Collinsworth.
-
I agree. Only QB not named Brady that has defeated them in postseason in PM era. Why let that QB in the tournament?

Saturday Games - who are we rooting for? Belinda

That would be Bills over Broncos , Chargers over Chiefs , Texans over Steelers. -

Don’t care too much , wouldn’t mind seeing the Bengals eliminated for the 2nd straight year. -
Idiots. What about the way Josh Allen plays football would possibly make one think he’s satisfied with a playoff loss ? I highly doubt it’s 50/50 right now in the minds of the 50 voters. “ most certainly” seems hyperbolic.

That must be a tough way to watch sports. After the last Allen touchdown Gabe Davis touchdown I was looking up AFCCG tickets on my phone.

Sure, the playoffs are more important. But the MVP will be decided ( not announced) before the playoffs even start.

Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs - Can the Bills run through this gauntlet.
Boatdrinks replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chiefs divisional round opponent won’t be a serious challenge. -
Not really. The Bills were trying to win the game with a minimal game plan and putting nothing on tape. Possibly even trying to put specific things on tape that won’t actually be used. They didn’t need a great game plan a la Detroit game to get a win vs New England.
