Allen is a budding superstar
oldmanfan replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He played well today. As with all rookie QBs he made some head scatcherd as well. But he showed signs of having the two things any long term QB has to have to make it: 1. Poise. Young QBs succeed or fail on whether they can get the game to slow down enough to make plays. He showed that's coming along. Doesn't have the deer in the headlights look. 2. Leadership: Does your team believe in you? Will they follow you? Answer to those appear to be yes. -
Depends on the type. The one where the rib articulates is I believe fibrocartilage. Much more fibrous than hyaline and can crack

Yep. You make an NFL roster you are expected to step up when your name is called. i'm fairly certain he won't retire at halftime.

Hyde is too valuable where he is. Pitts needs to put on his big boy pants.

Would any of the safeties we have be able to play corner? Don't think so.

Can I just ask a question without being told I'm trying to attack the guy? I could sit in my basement all day and night for the next year looking at film, but if I'l not sure what the OC had in mind with the play call I don't think my analysis would mean much. Allen missed some passes. Rookie QBs do that. He missed some reads. Rookie QBs do that. Instead of attacking me for asking a question, would it not be reasonable to ask whether the kind of analysis done on a rookie QB in his first NFL game is a bit over the top?

I think you should have a foundation of knowledge to make the kinds of interpretations he and others make. I wouldn't go to say a dentist if I had a heart condition, I want someone that's been there and done that I know Mel Kiper starter an empire doing this stuff. It still puzzles me as to how and why.

Seven pages on this. I looked this guy's name up on Google. From what I can find, he has some experience as a high school football coach. Is there anything else in his background I'm missing to suggest his opinion has validity? Or would it be like me writing a similar column on say Darnold, and expecting Jets fans to take it seriously just because I watch football a lot?

Watkins, Woods, 6-100, 6-81. Benjamin, Jones, 2-19, 2-63

You cherry picked one weekend of games, got caught looking ridiculous, and now are trying to backtrack. Next time don't post something that can so easily be torn apart. -
SI - Josh Allen, Thrown to the Wolves

Some folks seem to think NFL players, and QBs in particular, should be like umpires or surgeons. They should be perfect day 1 of the job and then improve. -
The Bills gained an angel yesterday

Such a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. -

I don't know who else but the owners would make the final decision on what essentially are the chief executives of the organization. I would assume (hope?) they were talking to folks in and around the league about McD and Beane. That would be nice! Regarding that, wonder if McD will call the D plays again this week? The one thing that has ticked me off this season so far is how completely unprepared they've looked in the first half of games. I hope McD has them playing aggressively from the get go. -

I think it would be nice to still have Gaines, as he fit the D better than Darby. I saw an interesting article I think in si about the Eagles D. They have three young CBs they like, and the article indicated they like them enough hat they may not even try to sign Darby to a long term deal after his rookie contract is up this year. So maybe we can get him back if we want. -
The Bills Worked Out Eight Players Yesterday

Ok then. I would like you to tell me who you would be working out. Today. Right now. Who is out there available that you would work out, based on your review of their play on film, etc. This really gets tedious. Most all of here have never seen probably the vast majority of these guys play, I can pretty much guarantee none of us have seen film on them, but because the Bills do what every other team in the league does, bring in guys that aren't on rosters now for a look-see, somehow we're wrong. I saw them brought in linemen. Great, we need them in my opinion.. If they see a guy they think is an upgrade, great. GIve it a shot. They see a WR they think might help, give him a shot. If they don't help, at least you tried. -

This brings up an issue I don't think ever gets discussed enough. When folks talk about "losing" someone in free agency, the assumption that seems to be made is the team could have retained the FA if they had made a bigger offer, earlier offer, etc. But what that ignores is the human side of the equation. Football players , while I think driven primarily by financials when in the FA market, also are human. Thus, there may be circumstances having nothing to do with football that cause them to leave one team for another in FA. Woods, for example. It was widely rumored that he wanted to sign with a West coast team to get back closer to home. If that is the case, wouldn't matter what we offered. We would have had to offer an insane amount to get him to change his mind if it was the personal matters driving the bus. I think Gilmore might have been similar. I recall a discussion saying he wanted to be on a team that got more TV time. I think Whaley really tried to get him back in the fold, but likely it was non-financial reasons that caused him to go to NE. There are obviously financial reasons for players to move in FA. Also football ones (might like a coach, a scheme, etc.). But don't minimize the impact of personal situations and desires when looking at these FA moves. -
Alabama would beat the Buffalo Bills, 'analysts' say

I remember abck in the day when they'd have a college All Star team play the defending NFL champs. It was like men playing against boys. Primarily because it was men playing against boys. -

So they're good at safety. They're good at one CB. They're OK at LB including the rookie who's figuring it out. They're good atone DE, OK with Star, And while you didn't mention it Phillips and Kyle are hardly trash. So when you say the rest of the D is trash, from what I can add up that is one position, the CB other than White, out of 11. The rest of the D. Brilliant. They bring guys in to take a look at based on what their pro scouting department has seen in pre-season etc. It is a look see. It is not Armageddon. It is how NFL teams do things.
