Sean McDermott is Out of Answers

The bandage was the cap space. Again like it or not they felt they had guys with big salaries and cap numbers that weren't performing. So they elected to get rid of that quickly do they would have space and picks to get the guys they think will win. -

Well, since neither you nor I are Nostradamus I don't think we can answer those questions. They just brought Pryor in. They tried Foster for speed, and now Phillips. In the Houston and Tennessee games Allen was going downfield more. If they don't give him weapons you'll have a point then. Plus, after watching the Bills play in Buffalo for 58 years now, I can tell you without question that you have to be able to run the ball in Buffalo in December. -

And that is why they drafted Allen. And why Beane said before they drafted Allen that you have to have a QB to win -

Do you honestly think he talks the same way with his team as he does at press conferences? -

They nstink right now. No one is denying that. No one is denying that they need to make sure they use their cap space and draft picks wisely or they will be in jeopardy of losing their jobs. But here you are, trying to rewrite history to have your little hissy fit. And it's tiring. Pretty solid ideas. -

Let's talk about Glenn. He missed almost all of last year. And they traded him to move up and get their QB. And I defy you to find anyone around here who, since Kelly , has not at least once complained about the Bills not ever taking a shot at a QB in the draft. That they'll never go anywhere without a QB. Let's talk Dareus. Who pulled a Haynesworth and decided to become a fat tub of goo after he got paid. Let's talk Woods. Actually you have it backwards; everyone thought at the time that the contract he got offered was way more than a #2 WR contract. Plus all the rumors were that he wanted to go back west. Plus it was Whaley that could have resigned him before he left in free agency, not McD or Beane. Let's talk Goodwin. It matters not whether he's better than Ray Ray or Foster right now, it matters what he was then. And then he was a guy that could not stay on the filed, whom no one wanted to keep around. Let's talk Brown. Brown who made a lot of tackles 5 yards downfield, Brown who again many fans had seen enough of when he was here. You are revising history to fit your little narrative. You are the typical guy around here. Complain when they don't do everything to get a QB, complain when they do that they should have focused on getting other guys instead of a QB. -
You said they should send him to Dr. Andrews. They did from what I've read, or at least had him review all the records They say he's week to week. And now it's the esteemed Dr. Andrews you want to question? I mean no one is infallible, but they did what you want and they're still wrong? Come on now.

Come on. Jones looked good last night. He's coming on. -

Or you rip the band aid off quickly and get it over with. -
Bills need to build around their centerpiece.
oldmanfan replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree about building around Allen. As for the O line, there is a disconnect right now. They have O linemen that seem more effective as maulers, and they have a RB in Shady that dances. Either they need to get back to the blocking schemes they used last year that worked for Shady or go with anther RB like Ivory as the primary guy. Last night I was yelling at the screen when they ran those Wildcat sweeps too many times. We don't have a line that can do that routinely, and after the surprise factor wore off it was a waste of plays. Daboll messed up their. Next year, they have to spend resources on the line. Football is still won or lost in the trenches. -
Would Manziel be a better qb with this team?

Nope . No way. -

Bring in new guys.. I suspect they will be looking at FAs like a Hyde or Poyer, a little under the radar but really solid guys. Hopefully at WR and especially O line. I expect a WR to be drafted day one or two. Maybe two. But the T word. I'm think that word should be banned. I suspect everyone at ONE BD would as well. -

Revisionist history yet again. at the time people thought Woods was overpriced, no one wanted Goodwin because he couldn't stay on the field. Brown got roasted routinely around here. Darby is having it tough in Philly. Dareus was a big piece of goo that did not live up tom his contract. Of you list I personally would have liked to see Watkins and Hogan stay. Let's just stop with the Monday morning QB stuff. -

They have been very clear that they need to rebuild the team from what was in existence when they arrived. that is true. But stop with the stuff about not trying to improve at say WR. They brought in Kerley in FA, tried Coleman, had a ton of WR in camp. Took a shot at the guy who went to the Ravens. O line they went out and got their starting C in FA, and it is just a reflection of that fact that the O line talent in the league overall is lacking. And so on. -

There is not a chance they are losing on purpose. How many threads are we going to see that cry about the same damn thing? Here is the reality: our offense stinks right now. It stinks because we lost a couple linemen we didn't plan on losing, in a league where linemen are at a premium. We have a rookie QB that was playing till he got hurt, and now we have to use a backup - and exactly how many times do teams playing rookie QBs or backups do well? Our WR corps is not that great either, and we have a RB that is beginning to show signs of age, and who is trying like hell to help the team but whose dancing around is right now hurting rather than helping. So they need a major infusion of talent on that side of the ball. Now, how do they get that? By sticking to their plan. They came to town with a plan to reinvent the team. They have cap space and raft picks to start doing that. We will see how they do with that. Right now we don't know, despite all this crap about not being able to evaluate talent, etc, etc. etc. blah, blah, blah. The rest of this year will suck. No question. So will reading that same old crap from the same old people with the same old lines about firing people. When every single person here knows that's not happening. -

No. Most coaches talk like this. They aren't going to get all emotional. -
Brandon Beane deserves to be fired tomorrow
oldmanfan replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess my question would be how one defines strong ownership. Some like Kraft get more involved in day to day things and are successful and others like Snyder or Jerry aren't successful. Some stay hands off and it works, some don't. -

Manziel would not be a better QB for any team in the NFL. -

Give me Jones as a starter, he's getting better. I would let Clay go but I think his contract means he's here one more year. -

And what exactly would make them better owners? Should they go out and hire a retread coach that in his first HC gig bombed in Cleveland? Should they hope to draft a QB in the 6th round that turns out to be the best ever? They screwed the pooch with the Ryan hire. No question. So they have brought in a young new HC that was on everyone's short list, and also a young GM that had earned his stripes and his shot. They presented a plan to the owners, and they are following through. Whether it works or not is an open question as it would have been for anyone they hired. And the guys they hired broke the playoff drought last year. They're doing the same with their hockey team, which is showing signs that they are becoming a good team this year. So, again, what exactly should they be doing? Oh, and I did all that without using capital letters. -

This kind of stuff should be banned from the board. Right. Beane finagled a way to have Wood come up with a spinal condition that threatened his career and life. And he somehow arranged for Richie to lose his mind. Crafty guy, that Beane. And if he works out it will be brilliant. -

You know why they don't have a rookie paying on offense right now? Because the rookie QB is hurt. The rookie QB. That pretty much everyone claiming to be a BIlls fan has yelled since the retirement of Jimbo that they had to try and get if they want to go anywhere. -

I was one of them. As were many other individuals here and more importantly many other teams in the league.
