Given the Keys to Draft How Would U Drive The Car ?
oldmanfan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree to a point. Getting an athletic bigger WR would be helpful, but they realized they needed to add speed and they did, that's for sure. Like you idea about using he lower round picks to move up. Linemen would be my focus there. -

Given the Keys to Draft How Would U Drive The Car ?
oldmanfan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trade down if possible. The best guys are on the defensive side so I'd draft an edge guy to augment pass rush in round 1. Then focus on O line; try to get a top C or RT. Look for a WR then. If I come out of the draft with an edge guy , starting C, and a WR I feel great. -
Put this in another thread. Five years from now you'lll have 11 guys on D that will cover or blitz from anywhere on the field. Guys like Milano and Edmunds will be highly valued. Guys like Kyle won't be in the league. And then offenses will have to adapt. And likely by getting back to pounding the ball on the ground. Anyone remember our first Super Bowl? Belichick had a couple down linemen and had his DBs just keep guys in front of them and punish them when they got the ball? An innovative coach could do something similar and slow these offenses down right now.

Perhaps you missed the part about unless a guy gets hurt. Only time he changed other than that was Peterman. News flash: just because you think you're the smartest kid in the room does not mean you're the smartest kid in the room.
-
The HC says he's the starter. Starters start. Unless they're hurt. Simple.
-
Allen starts for one simple reason: he's the starting QB for the team.

Five years from now innovative defensive minds will have figured out they need to have 11 guys that can cover and blitz from any spot on the field. The large defensive linemen who anchor will be relics. Guys like Milano and Edmunds will be worth their weight in gold. And then offenses will have to figure out how to adjust. Probably by going back to pounding the ball.

There is no way we will beat the Jaguars

If it's OK with the OP I think I'll still watch the game. -
Terrelle Pryor was a victim of Peyerson McD bromance.

He didn't play well. He got cut. Water is wet. And so on. -

Josh Allen starts week 12 but shows no growth....

Go watch the Texans game carefully. Allen was doing fine till he got hurt. And calm down; this is not global war we're talking about. It's a football team. -
why?

If Zay pans out, McD's first two drafts are awesome

You're our hero. We bow down to you. One question though. Given your brilliance shouldn't you have a job in the league? -
Good? No. Improving? Yes.

None of us have a clue what goes on behind the scenes. Was he working hard trying to assimilate the playbook? Staying after at practice to get reps? They had a couple young WRs show something Sunday, and a vet in Pryor that didn't.

Feel bad for the kid but the right move

Le'Veon Bell Will Sit Out for the Entire 2018 Season
oldmanfan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there's a whole lot of GMs in the league that are going to ask whether this guy is worth anything near what he wants to get paid. Methinks the young man just cost himself a pile of cash. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - What Is It With This Team?
oldmanfan replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think some of it is the ups and downs of life in the NFL. Jets are way down; hard for them to play well under their set of circumstances. Some of it was having a QB that operated the game plan well, although I don't expect that same Barkley every week, if he continues to start. Some of it was the development and progression of the young guys on the team. It takes time for younger guys to figure it out. Some of that wait time is shorter; for example Tiller came in after watching and learning for a little more than half a season and looked quite good. Milano is a force on D, took him a season or so to get it. Lawson it took several years; he was a force yesterday. Zay is starting to get it. When you have young guys like that it's great to see what happens when the lights get turned on, but often the light fades at times and you get clunky performances. Longer you play, hopefully the longer the light stays on. And the last part is coaching and management. Beane and his boys keep scouring the waiver wise, and they pick up this kid Isacc whomever and he looked pretty good. Foster obviously showed up, and that after spending some time on the practice squad figuring things out. Doesn't mean they'll do this every game of course, but you have to give credit to Beane and his staff, and McD and his, for recognizing they needed more speed on the offensive side, and taking the steps necessary to answer that issue. Hopefully that becomes a longer term answer. And of course bringing Barkley on board, although again could of course be a one hit wonder, this hit being a grand slam. You have to give McD credit as well for going on the road and getting his team geared up to play the game they played. Reports are that Jets ownership was apoplectic as to how our team look so fired up and the Jets looked moribund. One of my favorite sayings, not only about the NFL but life in general (especially in our country today) is people only see black and white in a world of grays. The last two weeks, it was all black: fire this guy, fire that guy, this guy stinks, the owner is incompetent, they have no idea how to manage the QB spot, and so on. Today it's all white: thinking about whether Barkley is our long term answer, maybe we make the playoffs, and so on. In reality it is a world of grays. They played well as a team yesterday, time for enjoyment of course but not cause for dreams of a resurgent QB, or playoffs, much like the struggles for a couple weeks did not mean the team is hopeless and everyone should be cut or fired. A nice shade of grey yesterday. Very light gray, with patches of white. A very enjoyable landscape. Let's hope that pattern holds for a while. -
QB Position: Do they know what they are doing?
oldmanfan replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just shut up. For God's sakes just shut up already. Who else could start? Milano, Edmunds, Johnson, Jones as a# 3 receiver, Tiller given the poor state of many O lines. Dawkins. You've reached a new level of pathetic. -
Still need a better quality center and LG.
