  1. Bo was great. I've seen many great ones over the years. I always tend to divide them into two types: more physical and more elusive. Bo, Earl Campbell and of course Jim Brown in the former group. OJ, Sanders, Sayers, Dickerson, and Dorset the latter. Then the guys kind of in between: Payton, Emmitt Smith, Thurman. if you want to pick one guy in the open field that could cut, elude guys, and run like the wind, it was OJ Can you imagine if this board existed for those years?
  2. Yep. Recall it well. As much as OJ is now a complete degenerate, I have never seen a better runner.
  3. When football was football
  4. I agree to a point. Getting an athletic bigger WR would be helpful, but they realized they needed to add speed and they did, that's for sure. Like you idea about using he lower round picks to move up. Linemen would be my focus there.
  5. Reed Johnson Mills Gonzales Faneca
  6. Trade down if possible. The best guys are on the defensive side so I'd draft an edge guy to augment pass rush in round 1. Then focus on O line; try to get a top C or RT. Look for a WR then. If I come out of the draft with an edge guy , starting C, and a WR I feel great.
  7. Put this in another thread. Five years from now you'lll have 11 guys on D that will cover or blitz from anywhere on the field. Guys like Milano and Edmunds will be highly valued. Guys like Kyle won't be in the league. And then offenses will have to adapt. And likely by getting back to pounding the ball on the ground. Anyone remember our first Super Bowl? Belichick had a couple down linemen and had his DBs just keep guys in front of them and punish them when they got the ball? An innovative coach could do something similar and slow these offenses down right now.
  8. Perhaps you missed the part about unless a guy gets hurt. Only time he changed other than that was Peterman. News flash: just because you think you're the smartest kid in the room does not mean you're the smartest kid in the room.
  9. The HC says he's the starter. Starters start. Unless they're hurt. Simple.
  10. Allen starts for one simple reason: he's the starting QB for the team.
  11. Five years from now innovative defensive minds will have figured out they need to have 11 guys that can cover and blitz from any spot on the field. The large defensive linemen who anchor will be relics. Guys like Milano and Edmunds will be worth their weight in gold. And then offenses will have to figure out how to adjust. Probably by going back to pounding the ball.
  12. Don't have to be either O or D oriented to be a good HC as many have pointed out. Just need a good OC. Marv had Ted.
  13. If it's OK with the OP I think I'll still watch the game.
  14. He didn't play well. He got cut. Water is wet. And so on.
  15. They are not varying, nor should they be. Successful organizations don't change their plan at the drop of a hat. They have a multiyear plan, and they need to see if it succeeds. If it does then they're heroes, if not they lose their jobs. As it should be.
  16. Peterman wasn't good enough. Neither was Taylor. Nothing to do with skin color. And the article referred to in the OP is written by a guy who has made racial issues the center of his existence; everything to him is racially motivated.
  17. Go watch the Texans game carefully. Allen was doing fine till he got hurt. And calm down; this is not global war we're talking about. It's a football team.
  18. You're our hero. We bow down to you. One question though. Given your brilliance shouldn't you have a job in the league?
  19. Good? No. Improving? Yes.
  20. None of us have a clue what goes on behind the scenes. Was he working hard trying to assimilate the playbook? Staying after at practice to get reps? They had a couple young WRs show something Sunday, and a vet in Pryor that didn't.
  21. Feel bad for the kid but the right move
  22. I think there's a whole lot of GMs in the league that are going to ask whether this guy is worth anything near what he wants to get paid. Methinks the young man just cost himself a pile of cash.
