Concerned that Joe Brady may have crashed back to reality.

Talk to statisticians about basing conclusions on a sample size of 1. -
So last week when we kicked the Jags butt was a big game as well I guess. Or the Fish game.
-
Why do we think the 4th game of the season is a big game? We stunk last night. Coaches and players need to take lessons away and do better next week.
-
Of course. God forbid your narrative would be ruined. That said, the coordinator battle was won by the Ravens last night to be sure. They need to watch film and learn from this one. But when the coaching staff continually bottles up the Fish offense with Hill and Waddle, is that also Josh?

So far WR group looks like a dumpster fire

Just an old fashioned ass whoopin’. Learn lessons and move on.

Sometimes you just get your butt kicked. That was last night. Coordinators got outcoordinated, players got ouphysicalled.

Week 4, Bills v. Ravens, PREDICT THE SCORE!

I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better

Fair points. But Brady has been running the offense not just this season but for a fair part of last season. And I haven’t seen defenses adapt. Rather it seems Brady adapts his offense to the defense. Against Dallas last year he recognized they couldn’t stop a physical run game and ran the ball down their throats. This past weekend it was that the Jags man D wouldn’t perform well against the pass, so he beat them that way. To me what is more reasonable is that Brady has shown himself adept at adapting. -

My response is simple: who the hell cares? We have an OC that recognizes that defenses are playing more 2 deep and such to take away the deep ball, so in response he designs plays that take advantage of it. He uses all the tools in the box including all the available guys that can catch the ball. And. It. Is. Working. What does it matter if other guys could come in and do the same. The depths to which some seek ways to be critical is really somewhat amusing. Now it’s first read throw percentage, a stat I have never even seen before but see it here as a way to criticize. -

You and others keep harping on this for no apparent reason. Why outside? Why not up the seam? If outside, why can’t it be a TE or RB, like Ty Johnson’s TD the other day? Do they not count? Is the only way to win when teams supposedly know you are passing is a guy on the outside? Hasn’t Brady’s play calling shown you otherwise? Or for that matter Andy Reid? -

You are being completely obstinate at this point about the design of Brady’s offense. This offense is going to run the ball more than you probably want. This offense is designed to spread the ball around to guys that are open. This offense is designed to not necessarily require a top level WR by your description, but rather WRs that are ready when their turn comes and that are willing to do things other than catching a ball (block) to achieve success. And it’s working. It worked the last half of last year and it’s working now. The only argument you and others can make is: but just wait, you’ll see what happens when DCs catch up. They haven’t so far since Brady took over, have they? -

The point is you are assuming things are going to be negative in the future for God knows what reason. The point is that many teams are playing Cover 2 right now so the smart football is shorter passing routes. The point is that since Brady took over as OC the offense has been cooking and we haven’t seen evidence yet that defenses have adjusted. The point is that when defenses have allowed shots downfield we’ve seen guys like Coleman get open for a TD, Ty Johnson for a TD, MVS (Josh just missed him) and so on. The point is that Josh is thriving in this office and is being touted as the leader in the MVP race for running this offense so well. The point is that, unless I’m missing some, folks harping about the WR corps don’t seem to be posting in many other threads, which leads one to question if the reason they do so here is simply to be negative. I’ll stop there, but you get my point. There you go. Well stated. -

Who is the leading candidate for MVP right now? Josh Allen. Enough said. -

Through the entire off-season I said the most important factor this season was Brady and how he schemed the offense. Thus far he is doing extremely well. Those who keep harping on the idea that the WR group is subpar are doing so because they are grasping at straws to find something negative. Why they feel the need to be negative only they can explain. When you have a philosophy that everybody eats, you won’t have a guy put up huge numbers. Brady’s offense is predicated on having everyone eat, and by balancing run and pass. And it’s working. It’s working because the O line has been dominant, because Josh is in fact going to the right guy at the right time, and because in this offense it is not just WRs that catch but TEs and RBs. Look how many guys scored last week. For those now moaning that we’ll have to see what happens when they take X away, or play a better team, blah, blah, my response is this: let them be scared of us, not the other way around. -
Someone asked me today what I thought about the Bills start, and that is the word that came to mind. Solid. The entire team is just solid. Josh is solid, although his level of solid is above that of mortal man. The O line is solid in the rush game and pass protection. The D line the same in run defense and pass rush. We lose two starting LBs and the replacements are playing solid football. All the WRs and TEs are playing solid ball, making the catches they should make, eagerly participating in blocking for the run game. The DBs are all really solid, especially the CBs. And who would have thought guys like Hamlin and Lewis and Ingram would be playing as well as they have? Cook to me is the one guy who has gone above and beyond (and Josh as well, although to me he's just playing at his normal incredible way). Coaching is solid too. Brady is calling stuff that allows the guys on his offense to make plays. Babich is using his players to maximum effect. And McD is overseeing all and showing confidence in his team like going for it aon4th and 3 on the first drive. Solid team. Solid coaching. solid performances. Solid victories. This is the kind of effort if maintained can take the Bills a long way.
