Hire Saleh as defensive coordinator IMMEDIATELY

NO (immediately) -
Not challenging Dalton sideline catch or Cook TD

They hired an ex-NFL ref to advise on replays. I am sure he told them it was not a catch. -
How did you feel when Josh set up in the shotgun?
oldmanfan replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Needed a first. Don’t think running it would have gotten it. Samuel was open on 3rd down but the pass wasn’t there, maybe due to the pass protection. -
How was Josh able to finish the game with a concussion?
oldmanfan replied to JakeFrommStateFarm's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would not be shocked if he is listed being on the protocol tomorrow. -
But here’s the thing. You could also say you never know, maybe a WR breaks a tackle and gets them down the field to kick a FG. When a plan doesn’t work out the urge is always to say doing it a different way would have. But no one knows that. If we had run it 3 times , kicked, and they end it with the FG people would be saying they should have thrown to try and get a first down.

1. O line has got to play better than they did today. Two weeks in a row they got shoved around. 2. Coordinators have to come out better in the first half than they have the last two games. Brady especially has to look at his schemes to get guys open, and having an O line play better would help a lot. 3. People wanted challenges but we have the retired ex-ref in the booth. I suspect we didn’t challenge because he advised they’d be unsuccessful. 4. Josh seemed to be pushing today. Missed some throws that should have been made but needs more help from his O line especially. 5. Might be time to put in a call to Micah. 6. The 3 downs at the end? Can argue it many ways. If you run and get stuffed they use their TOs and get the ball with time for a play, quick spike and a kick. If you pass and don’t complete the same thing. Only thing that would definitively changed things was to get a first down. 6a). Lose to a 59 yard FG you tip your hat to the kicker. 7. How Josh was able to clear protocol and come right back in is a mystery. No way a shot like he took when his head slammed into the turf was harmless. 8. They’re 3-2, one more away game then the schedule eases. Still leading the division.

I saw it as long. Much like the one to Kincaid was short. We all love Josh but the deep ball is not his forte.

Worst (regular season) coached game in the entire McD era
oldmanfan replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again, you run it where? Into the middle? Each play is like 2-3 seconds because they call their TOs. We wind up punting and giving them the ball with around 10-15 seconds. They have time to run a play, get to the line, spike it. -
Nope. Sorry.

It was an overthrow. We all love Josh but we don’t need to make excuses for him.

That is simply inaccurate. -
Kind of the same for any team
-
If anything he was pushing too hard today. He wasn’t “on” today. Three throws: 1. Overthrows Hollis deep. 2. Underthrows Kincaid deep. 3. Flare to Samuel. Throws it behind him when he had running room if he leads him.

Brady needs to adjust his schemes. -

Just an assumption on your part. We show run formation they stack it and we run little time off. Martin’s punt was good, coverage was late. So you assume running plays pinned within the 5 yard line would automatically work. -
Who is more at fault? Beane or McDermott?

We’re 3-2, lose on a last second 59 yard FG. Guess I thought the season is 17 games. -

Second: Even if we had run the ball 3x in a row and HOU used all 3 timeouts, we're punting with 20+ seconds left on the clock instead of 16. Everything else being the same the Texans would've had 11 seconds to run a play in the middle of the field and spike it (risky), or a pass to the sideline. Third: Let's say we followed your script and ran the ball 3x and then successfully defended the sideline on the Texans one play..... there's still a good chance Fairbairn makes the 64 yard FG From another poster a couple pages back. Not everyone agrees with you. -

If we showed run they stack it, call their TOs, we run maybe 6-7 seconds off the clock. We punt they have time to run a play and spike it. -

We weren’t on the one yard line I don’t believe. -

A combo like this would have been reasonable. Would have taken maybe 2 seconds off the clock -

The last sentence is reasonable. Running twice would have eaten little clock given they had 3TOs. -

I do not think running stacked it more necessarily. -

I don’t think the decision was wrong. And as I’ve said if we had run and they kick the FG people would be screaming we should have thrown to get a first down. A first down was the only thing that guarantees getting to OT. -
