12/8/24 Game 14 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Rams post game Thread
oldmanfan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would not have called the TO. But let’s be analytical. Under the best of circumstances we don’t call a sneak (which I think Josh called at the line), we throw three times and hopefully score. Then the assumption everyone makes is that somehow we use our 3 TOs, stop them on a 3 and out, get the punt and somehow with maybe 20-30 seconds move to where we kick the winning FG. Can that happen? Yeah Josh did it with 26 seconds Thanksgiving a couple years ago. Here’s the more likely scenario. McVay knows he gets one Ist down it’s game over. He also knows his WRs have shredded to Bills all game. I don’t think he calls 3 runs, I think he calls pass maybe even on 1st down. And game is over. It would have required a miracle either way, inside kick or not. This game was lost because of our D getting dominated. And the same would have been said about the Rams if we had won. Ih, and to people here who equated McD to a murderous leader of the Third Reich whose name I never use: put that stuff where the sun doesn’t shine. That is beyond despicable. -

The simple fact is that their offensive personnel destroyed our defensive personnel. And vice versa. Our D steps up it’s not a close game. And again vice versa. -

I think McVay would not have been afraid to throw it at the end. The destroyed our zone all day and any quick throw to Puka was almost guaranteed. -
If Bill Walsh hadn’t had Montana, Reid hadn’t had Mahomes, Paul Brown hadn’t had Otto Graham…

Time for rational thought: 1. They were going to go for it on 4 th regardless, so taking the penalty or not meant nothing. Going with the 4 man rush and zone that hadn’t worked all day is a legitimate gripe. 2. Despite Tommy yelling about the TO, what would the odds have been of holding a team we hadn’t stopped the entire freaking day from getting a first down? Especially if McVay didn’t just have to run the clock down? More or less than3%? And yes they should have jumped right up and ran another quick play or spiked it after the failed sneak. 3. The calls for McD to be canned are stupid childish reactions. They are 10-3 with a supposed rebuilding team. 4. They lost because we were dominated by their O line, and because our zone did not match up against them. -

The Rams would have went for it on 4th regardless; blame the rush 4/zone there. Didn’t matter if you take the penalty. The sneak has worked all year, and if we had thrown for it then MacVay is more aggressive on his calls. We hadn’t stopped them all game; the idea we would at the end is around the 3% Tommy kept screaming about. -

Hey Tommy, calculate the percentage chance of stopping and offense you haven’t stopped all day, then getting the ball with no TOs and getting into FG position. -

Nope. They go for it and make it; blame the rush 4/zone on 4th down that hadn’t worked all day -

And if they make the same play they did it would have been first down anyway. My criticism is that on 4 th down they rush 4 and play zone, which hadn’t worked all day -

Their O line is absolutely dominant today. Keep rushing 4 and not getting anywhere near Stafford. -

Week 14, Bills v. Rams, PREDICT THE SCORE!
oldmanfan replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills 27, Rams 17. Rams defense is vulnerable to the run so I see us having several long drives eating up the clock. -

You have to give McD credit for building and maintaining a solid team culture. Some pooh pooh it, but culture is critical to success. He has gone through several coordinators, but has 2 now that are sympatico with his philosophies on both sides of the ball. He seems to be getting more aggressive with on 4th down. He still needs work on in game decisions and adjustments, but overall he's in the top echelon of guys in the league. For those who want to replace him I can only say in my life experiences that when you think the grass is greener on the other side, most of the time the grass turns out to be a lot browner instead.

OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
oldmanfan replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bottom line is this: he could have hit Lawrence, but he didn't have to go in with the forearm shot as he did. Using the forearm shot shows intent to injure. No other way around it.
